Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Fiberplus

How old are you?: 19

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: North American Eastern Time Zone, UTC-5; United States

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: English is my first language. I like to think I have good grammar and spelling. Hopefully this application will show that well enough.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a bit of a jerk, I'll be honest. A bit vulgar, but I can keep my language in check in OOC and use what I do as tastefully as I can ICly. I'm not afraid to speak my mind, but I can follow rules and both respect and obey the administration and moderators.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I'm not sure. It'd depend on how much I like it and how much free time I have. I'm currently taking classes at my community college, I have a girlfriend who is home for the summer and trying to spend as much time with me as she can before she heads back to school, and I'm looking for a job. Not to mention I have guild duties in WoW, which I'll get into in a moment.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I have a lot of experience Roleplaying in World of Warcraft, and I've been interested in it for about 3-4 years. For me, roleplaying creates a constantly evolving story in which we all have the ability to change the outcome. It's like being a character in a book, game, television show, movie, etc. The endless possibilities and the break from the norm are what draw me to it, and what I feel makes it so appealing.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: In World of Warcraft, I've both started and still continue roleplaying, so roleplaying there is all I really know. As for Minecraft, I have never in my entire life roleplayed here. I'm more than willing to learn, as the idea of it becomes more and more appealing with the thought of all the possibilities it holds. I've also played a bit of D&D, although with my group was often ridiculous so RP wasn't very prevalent.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Acting on knowledge that you as a player have, but your character does not. This could be anything from knowing the location of another character to knowing something secret about their past that you are aware of OOCly, but NOT ICly. I've had a lot of experiences with this on my RP server in WoW.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is:

"LordMelonPants would strike at the orc's shoulder with his sword." - Not Power-Emoting

"LordMelonPants slashes into the orc's shoulder, kills him, violates his body sexually, burns him, and snorts the ashes." - Power-Emoting to the extreme.

I've always called this "Godmodding", but I've known it to go by "Power-Emoting" as well. It's basically the lack of an attempt in an emote that has an effect on another player. Anything can be attempted on them, but it's up to the player on the receiving end of the attempt to determine whether or not the attempt succeeds. Power-emoting can be anything from "I grab you" to "I cut you in half".

What do you expect this server will be like?: My only other experience with an RP server involved me logging in, seeing a long-abandoned town, running around for a bit, and leaving. I never saw another person. From what I've seen just based on the sheer number of accounts linked to these forums, I'm expecting to see a LOT of people. I have no idea what Minecraft RP is like. I have no idea what the people here will be like. However, I can honestly say I'm excited to find out.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: See my above statement.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/?page_id=8 , if these are the rules I needed to read, I have indeed read them, understood them, and agree to them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Looking around I can't find any server, forum, or teamspeak rules specifically, but if the above rules link applies to all of them, then I promise to abide by them. If my word isn't good enough, maybe we could talk something out and do a face-to-face pinky swear. I never break a pinky swear.

How did you hear about us?: Googl't ya. Decided I wanted to look for a server that could hold my interest. Building has come to bore me a bit, and grinding for materials has kind of begun to do the same. So I looked for an RP server, found this one. Looked you guys over, and I wanna give the server a shot.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

In-Character:

Character Name: David Lester

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

A life of luxury, livin’ in bliss an’ sittin’ atop a mountain of gold with all the food ya could possibly eat; n’ that was that dream of the little guttersnipe, David Lester. Not at all how he lived. Skinny, weak, poor. No love, no family, nothin’. Mama and papa died at war…and when his swill-sippin’ uncle had enough of him, he kicked him out onto the streets cause he wasn’t bringin’ in no coin. The little runt got a bad reputation as a thief, a little bag o’ terror whose parents abandoned him ‘cause they thought he wasn’t deservin’ of a warm bed. Thievin’ was all the little guy could live on. Eventually, he gets caught trying to ****** up a noblewoman’s solid-gold bracelet. That was about all the guards could put up with. Lester got dragged off to Oren’s dungeons, where he’d be ‘till he was a grown man.

By now, almost everyone has forgotten the little guy. The kids’ uncle is long dead, and he’s got a choice: Try an’ start a new life. Pursue a trade, a profession, anythin’…Try to make an honest livin’ and get to live in an’ love the world that’d shunned him, locked him up, and forgotten about him. That, or go right on back to stealin’, maybe get some equipment together, a few lowlife types and go live as a bandit in the wilds. What’ll Lester do? What choice is he gonna make?

Time…time’ll tell that tale.

What are your Character's ambitions?: To get surviving. A warm meal and a bed are a good start. Ambition is for educated folk who got futures.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Lester never held a tool in his life. Tried fishing for a meal once using a stick, a piece of string, and an old, moldy piece of cheese. The fish ate better than him that night.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Lester got fairly decent at pickpocketing and pilfering small items, though his record of arrest speaks volumes for just how good he really was at it.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ):

Other Information about your Character:

Lester is a malleable character, his life experiences easily swaying him in the directions of either good or evil. For the sake of self-preservation. That’s what I’d like to play him as, especially since it’d give me an interesting way to feel out the world.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

The brutes kick the Halfling about, making casual threats at him. One of them could easily overpower the Halfling even if the poor guy was armed, and all they had were their bare fists…

Lester happens across them from a distance. The hungry wandering ex-prisoner is quickly frightened by the men. For a moment, he debated helping them. Maybe they’d split the loot with him, give him enough to eat for a day. Then again, maybe they’d just as easily turn around on the frail man and steal everything up to and including the clothes off of his back.

Lester decides it’d be better just to keep moving along, alerting a guard if he came across one.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Lester blinks a few times. He fishes in his pocket and brings up a single coin and a piece of pocket lint. “I’d be askin’ if this could get me somethin’, but I don’t think anythin’ you got is edible, mister.”

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Lester’s eyes open wide with delight! This could feed him for months! He’d have bed, food, drink…everything he could need. He looks around. "Nobody? Not a soul? Good. Yeah, just pilfer this, take it, heck, I mean, this place is abandoned, right? Ain’t nobody is gonna miss it, an’ I need to eat tonight!"

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Lester’s stomach growls hungrily. Lester does his best puppy dog face. While a daily occurrence for the poor guy, nothing is worse than being hungry and lost. That’s like being bored and locked in solitary.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offers their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Reward? Bandits? Well, erm, maybe? It’d depend, really. Maybe if they taught him how to fight an’ gave him a bow…

Anything else you would like to say?:

I hope I get accepted, and if I don’t, and should it be because I didn’t incorporate enough lore into my character’s bio, could I possibly be pointed in the right direction to some sources that’d help me develop my specific story a bit more? (Like giving a specific war his parents may have perished in, or something similar). I went through the wiki a bit, read up the best I could (It’s presently 4:11AM at the time of me finishing up this application, so my attention span is a bit wonky), but the vast majority of it still remains unread for the most part. I plan on educating myself further as I delve into the server and its societies, learning hands on as well as from the wiki. I can always rewrite my bio, though.

Your application has been...

DENIED of DENIAL!

Or in other words,

ACCEPTED!

Comments:

Your character seems rather interesting now as the type to be easily swayed and have his destinies changed. Your biography was a bit short and lacking of lore, but in this case, I will make an exception.

I welcome you to the Lands of Asulon!

Please be patient, your application must be promoted by a GM.

This may take a while. If you have any questions/concerns, send a Private Message!
