Greetings Event Team! We have had a couple of meetings lately and many important matters were discussed. Unfortunately both of them were short notice, but this will be changed with future gatherings and announcements will be made beforehand. Below I will detail a quick summary of what was discussed so that everyone is informed.

  • We are now accepting and looking into Event Proposals! If you find anything of interest that you would like accepted, run it by me and I will give you the final verdict. This also applies to what you believe should be denied. If the end decision is for the event to be accepted, the Event Team will discuss the proposal with the creator, and we will assist in any way that we can.
  • Our own events are being accepted and denied now as well. If an event is sitting in the 'Current Accepted Events' sub-forum, it means that we are working on having it implemented or it is currently active. Events in this sub-forum are our main priority and I will be personally overseeing their progress alongside the event proposer.
  • If your event contains lore that is not currently implemented in the world of Asulon, you must contact a Lore Master and have it approved. It is preferable to have this done before you post the event! The "Your Ideas and Lore" section of the forums is the best place to do this.
  • We are now looking for potential Event Team builders! If you have an interest in a particular applicant, don't hesitant to contact me! I will be searching for high-quality builders that can build anything on the fly. I do not want builders that must be babysat. If you are an actor and would like to join the build team, post an application! Chances are you will be accepted if you are build team material. Additionally, contact promising builders and get them to apply!

With that out of the way, I am also glad to announce that our Event Team forum is now neatly organized and cleaned up. The main forum will be for general discussion and important announcements, while the sub-forums will be used for our events and workload. We will also be using Teamspeak much more frequently. I hope to use it for discussing ideas, Event Team meetings, and events that we are involved in. Additionally, I ask that any member of the team that is currently not added to our Skype chat, contact me ASAP. While Skype certainly isn't the best way to organize ideas, that will not be its purpose for us. Skype is an easy way to contact any member of the team whenever needed, and it is much faster than communicating through the forums.

I will be creating an announcement in the 'Server News and Maintenance' section of the forums tomorrow as well. If you are interested in sharing a few of your own words in the thread, be sure to post below and I will include it in the announcement. Here is what we have so far; Distuth has already sent me his post which is inserted at the bottom.

"Greetings Asulon!

As many of you know, the Event Team was recently introduced as a group of members who would assist in the creating of fun and fruitful events. Not long ago I took up the role of manager of the team, and I have been doing my best to get our most crucial task accomplished; bringing immersive. high-quality events to the server. The only way we may achieve this is if we involve the community as much as we can with our goal. How can we do this? It’s very simple. All you need to do is begin writing event proposals that are rich in story and lore, provide an entertaining and unforgettable experience, and incorporate the community on a (preferably) large scale. We aren’t talking server-wide events, but you will understand what I am attempting to get across once you continue reading.

Additionally, we are now actively searching for potential builders for the Event Team! Many of you may be wondering why your application has been awaiting a response for some time now, but don’t fret! I am reviewing applications daily, but unfortunately we are not in need of actors at this point in time -- we currently have plenty! With that said, a few new builders will be selected within the coming week, so stay tuned! ~

We the Event Team are like a family; we try to include each team member into our projects. The following paragraphs are written by our very own team. This is what our members are looking for regarding event proposals, and some other important information to note as well. Read carefully, for this may determine if your event is accepted, or trashed!

[The above paragraph may be edited depending on what YOU, the Event Team, decide to include in this news announcement. Below is what Distuth wanted to share, so feel free to go off of what he has already included.]

Guidelines for Event Proposals:

Following these basic guidelines will give your event much better chances of being accepted.

1. Playerbase Involvement:

Unfortunately, we don’t have the manpower to create events for a single player. Make sure your event can create RP for a reasonable amount of people.

2. We aren’t building free stuff for you:

You wouldn’t think this would come up. We didn’t either. But we were mistaken. So lets get it out in the open now. The Event Team is not there to build free castles and towns. The purpose of our build team is to construct buildings/landscapes for large events. If you request our help in making a headquarters for your organization, we’re just going to laugh at you.

3. Be Creative:

If your event consists of “Lets have a festival!” or “Lets go kill stuff!” make sure you actually have some background to support the event.

4. Keep scope in mind:

It’s a lot easier to get your event accepted if it’s based around a specific group of players rather then the whole server. Massive server wide events require a lot of work, and the event has to be incredibly impressive to justify the workload.

5. Remember the lore:

If the event doesn’t fit the lore, we can’t do it. This should be fairly straightforward. If your event is large enough to affect lore or require new lore, make sure you’ve talked to the Lore Masters beforehand.

This is a great idea, and will atleast give those applicants, waiting to be reviewed some sort of.. hope or sign to show they are being considered. I've had a few messages sent, from applicants asking if we are still accepting applications.

My advice to the applicants are below. If your going to apply for the build team, keep your building simple but unique. Don't over-do it but don't make low quality builds. Make it realistic but don't feather it with materials. If your thinking about applying for an Actor position, think wisely on the scenario's given. Go in-depth, don't stop your imagination flying around your keyboard and typing up your ideas. If you have a problem, or a question or even require a help, PM Viper or a Event Team member. If your trying to structure and form an Event proposal, don't make one that makes you a Necromancer so you can shoot lightning, and gain personal fun. Create the idea for Asulon, not just for yourself and remember to follow Lore.

The announcement is looking pretty good, I'd have to say. In the guidelines for event proposals, I would suggest adding:

6. Event Proposals are not Event Apps:

Don't feel that event proposals are limiting you to have to go through a complicated process just to get a little event out. The event proposals section is merely a tool for players to get the help of the event team for large events, and events that require actors or the build team. If your event is small, for example a party you're having in your town, and you can arrange everything yourself, then nothing is holding you back from doing it yourself. If your event is on a large scale (but not massive), for example a large festival in a major city, or you need the Event Team's help, then we want you to make an event proposal.

To further add to the announcement; If any players are doing a mini-event such as one that evolved through proper role-play you can /tell or PM Event Team Actors and ask them for assistance. Please keep in mind that if you are trying to get them to come in and act as a "power player" for your side they are free to deny if they see it is not fit. You can also make a /modreq or get in contact with Viper3X and they can seek out a member for you or one who might suit your event best.
