Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

Temple_Monks be my Minecraftian name.

How old are you?:

I have seen sixteen winters come and go in my time.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

Good ol' England.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

I believe I do have a good grip on the Grammar of the English. That's a matter up for dispute, though.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I am a human. I have five limbs. I like doing Human activities such as eating, sleeping, socializing, listening to music and playing a game revolving around cubes and the deconstruction of their natural form and the creation of artificial form with them.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

A fair bit. Can't give a exact estimate.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Roleplaying is the act of 'Stepping into the boots' of a character, either established or un-established beforehand, and acting out with the mentality and mindset of set character in a set of given scenarios which may be scripted or dynamic in nature. Good Roleplaying is the art of interfacing near-flawlessly with your character, replacing your OOC personality with the one given, in order to act as realistically and believably as possible in the Roleplay environs.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

Not a lot, I must admit. Hopefully i'll find some here.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Metagaming is the use of information garnered in Out-Of-Character in the In-Character world.

For example, your friends find some diamond ores in a mine, but don't have the skills required to mine them. You, however, do. Your friends message you on a VoIP program such a Skype telling you to come to the mine, giving you co-ordinates. This is NOT meta. However, if you act IC'ly as though you knew the information , for example grabbing a pickaxe and rushing to the mine mentioned, then that would be meta.

However, Meta is up to discussion and questioning, really. I believe there is a element of 'Global Knowledge', something everyone should know - for example, what road leads to their home or nation capital. I believe finding THIS information out OOC and using it IC'ly is fine. Do you?

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is:

Power-emoting, is quite simply, acting out In-character through the use of emotes/actions in a way that cannot be countered by others.

For example, "Terry the Halfling Chef grabs his meat clever and sever's Rex Pok's head in a single swipe, catching the head and promptly sauteing it and serving it up al-dente to his Halfling buddies."

What do you expect this server will be like?:

Pretty darn good.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have not played on any other servers.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

I have indeed!

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

-places hand over heart-

I do solemnly swear, upon danger of death, dismemberment, or ingestion by Skaddernak, to abide by these rules and uphold them where necessary.

How did you hear about us?:

A friend.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

Nay, I have not.

Character Name:

Neri

Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

None. You need to fix your subraces...

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Neri was found on the Island of Adyton, by two rather senile old men. They raised her, feeding her the various meats of the sheep that infested every nook and cranny of the island, never feeding her fruit because they thought it was cursed by Iblees (They were rather senile indeed.). As she grew, she began to explore the ruins that they lived inside. She found various tomes detailing... things. Things that seemed... homely to her. Things she could relate to.

She was also given books by her Guardians that detailed a Order known as the Monks, books they said had survived the End of Days upon the lands of Aegis. She listened to all of their stories about the doomed land with a unquenchable thirst, until they had gone right around in a circle and began telling their first story again! When this happened, she sneaked away and opened the books, reading of the Stars, Moon and Sun, who were originally people but now were not. She was drawn in by the wonderful illustrations in the book. She ripped them out and nailed them above her bed, which was made from sheep wool that she had gathered from briars around the island, weaving it clumsily by hand into a comfy material... if somewhat scratchy.

As she grew older, turning slowly into a woman, she began to understand more about the ruins she lived in. They detailed a being, or group of beings known as the Dragur. Fearing what she had read, and what she was - she had never been told where she was found or who were her parents, she decided to run away from home. Before she did, she delved deep into the ruins, searching every corner until she found what she knew she would find from what her dusty tomes described - a necklace in a Dragur's form, supposedly carved from it's tooth or claw. She stared wide-eyed at it, mouth agape. She grabbed the necklace and fled, hoping it would grant her safety in her travels. As she left, she saw the glow of burning houses in the distant, and the colours of a pirate ship along the horizon. She ran in a panic, fleeing, without a care for her Guardians.

She stopped, realizing she could not simply leave without thanking the men who had cared for her for many years. She found her way back to the cave, narrowly avoiding a group of pirates who were walking to the shore with chests laden with booty from the dig-site nearby. She hugged the amulet tightly, thanking it graciously for saving her.

Eventually, she found her way back to the cave, and called out her Guardian's names... or not. She realized that in all of her time living with them, she had never learnt their names, simply calling them both 'Father'. She looked high and low on the cave, not finding them anywhere. As she was about to leave, something caught her eye. In a abandoned alcove near the entrance, she found two stone statues of old men, facing each other, faces carved in a mood of great mirth. She smiled, a single tear escaping her eye, sliding down her cheek.

She left the place, pondering upon what great magicks could have caused such a thing to occur. She hurried to the pirate's vessel, the only boat now upon the island, and hid inside a chest of stone, enduring a harrowing sail to their fort, where she hastily departed and trudged her way inland. Eventually, she dropped unconscious from her exertion.

Luckily, however, she was found by a man, who was running a caravan from Arethor to the Cloud Temple. He ferried her to the Temple, and left her in a seat under the shade of a silver birch tree ((The dynmap is really quite detailed, good work.)).

She awoke, and stood up.

What are your Character's ambitions?:

To live a good, honest life. Failing that, she will resort to plan B.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Hoe/staff. She knows how to fight with one pretty well.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Neri loves fire. She is very affluent with it. Of course, it still burns her, and she often cries afterwards. However, after many years on the island after playing with fire, she knows it almost as a friend. Friends do argue, though...

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ):

Other Information about your Character:

Nothing, really. She is quite plain. To the eye at least. ;)

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Neri approaches the two men, halting at a distance longer than a man can thrust a longsword. She coughs, hoping to get their attention, then says

"Good men, I'm sure this Halfling is a waste of your time. However, I know of something that is not. Are you interested?"

The two men look at each other, and shrug, dropping the halfling to land on his backside with a undignified "URFF!", falling backwards. They look at the woman, and one of them says;

"Whut you talkin' baut, missus? I bet you got money on ya..." the one says, probably named Ulgar the Ugly by his own mother.

The other nods slowly and continues "Oooh, that be a nice trinket you got thar...." the other, Ragnar the Rancorous, says, reaching a piggy hand towards her amulet.

Neri grimaces, and replies "No, I have not got money on me. However, there is a mineshaft south of her with all the money you could dream of. I would have got the money, but I am a mere damsel, not muscly like you two heroic men. If you could simply lift the rock in the way of the mine's entrance, you could get inside and claim the treasure!".

The two men's eyes light up like a Undead's staff in a fight. They briefly nod at each other, and sprint full pelt to the south, arms up in the air, waving their swords from side of side.

"RICHES, HERE WE COME!" they yell at the top of their voice. Of course, they did not ask how she knew there was treasure inside a mine with a blocked entrance. No they did not.

The halfling scurries away, confused but unharmed. Neri smiles and goes on her way oncemore.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Neri looks at the man, gazing half-mindedly at her wares. She spots the price of the bread and raises an eyebrow.

"Lower your bread prices! This is extortionate. If you put your price lower, people will buy it before it goes rotten. Better than nothing, hmmm?" she says, walking away.

The merchant nods slowly, thinking, and hastily changes the bread's sign to a more reasonable price, a good thing for everyone.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Neri would not open a chest that is not hers or she is given permission to open. She respect's people's privacy. She would instead go outside, gather some dead branches, and light a fire in the person's stove, putting some mushroom soup on top that she had prepared with her supplies. She would eat half, then leave a note for the person thanking them for the use of their equipment. She would then depart a great deal less hungry than before.

((I am using "would", because it wouldn't happen like the ORQ says, I don't think. Hope you understand.))

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Neri raises a hand to block off the warm sunlight filtering through the forest's canopy, peering ahead up the path. She sees several traders waving at her, and approaches. She greets them as they greet her, bowing deeply and asking if they have any supplies to spare her. She offers them various thing she has found in the forest during her foraging, and wishes them a good hunt, before leaving promptly, not wishing to outstay her welcome.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Neri offers to follow behind the Guard, and treat any who are wounded after the fight. She does not agree with needless bloodshed, but allows it to happen simply because it would be near-impossible to get out of the situation otherwise. There will be other times to promote kinder ways, but not today.

Anything else you would like to say?:

Nothing really. I just hope whoever reads my application enjoys it somewhat. Thank you!
