b]Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: sagaterrias

How old are you?: 18

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: England

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Indeed I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm currently in the last year of six form at my school, getting ready to go to University. I'm on my computer quite frequently and enjoy gaming as a whole. My favorite games are Skyrim, Halo, Mass Effect and Minecraft.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I'd be on the server around 2-3 hours a day, so about 16-18 hours.

What do you know about Role-playing? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Role-playing for me is becoming a character in an imaginary world where you yourself can shape it's

personality and feelings, with some borderlines of course. You are able to leave worries behind out of

character and act as someone else. I'd say it is somewhat of a group effort, together you all shape how the role-play starts and finishes. It is role-play that has kept me active on Minecraft as a game.

What experience have you had in Role-playing, if any?: Since I've started Minecraft I've had a fair amount of experience with role-play. One of the main role-playing servers I played on was the Overture Saga. I joined in the third instalment all the way to the fifth. I also joined The World of Synthesia and Feudal Tales. From them I've role-played a wide range of races.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-Gaming is where you use knowledge gained out of character in character. An example is if you know the name of somebody’s character even though you haven't yet met them or asked them there name in character. Another main issue with Meta-Gaming is if you have an issue with someone out of character and you begin to take it up in character.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is:

Power-Emoting is when you role-play an impossible task that can't be done by your character. One of the main examples is when you are forcing your characters actions onto an opponent therefore the other character can't defend themselves or attack back. Essentially you are making your character an indestructible god.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I've heard some good reviews about this server and heard that there is a lot of good role-play here, I'm hoping that this server can become a main one for me.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Overture 3- Stayed until the end.

Overture 4- Stayed until the end.

Overture 5- Stayed until the end.

World of Synthesia- I did not leave, it ended for reasons I'm not quite sure.

Feudal Tales- Ended due to the fact that the owner was busy with school work.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Indeed I have and I understand and agree to all of them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Team speak set Rules: I promise.

How did you hear about us?: It was recommended to me by AlexanderAmaya, Spectator_bob and GavLan.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Yes, in which I was told to extend my in roleplay questions. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/64244-my-application-human/

In-Character:

Character Name: Arnold Ranch

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): A Northerner.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Arnold was born in the Holy Oren Empire, where his family were considered fairly average there. His father fought for the army and his mother worked at one of the inns. The income seemed enough to support young Arnold, however how very wrong they were. After the birth of Arnold his mother caught an unknown disease, the doctors seemed to be more focused on this new disease than his mother.Eventually the doctors found a prevention for the disease, however it was too late to stop it from spreading. Instead the prevention only delayed the mother’s death. Still determined to keep his wife alive, Arnold’s father used up all the families savings on the cure. Yet it was obvious to him that despite the prevention, she was still dying inside. Each morning her face would bare a dull and weary look, yet Arnold’s father was still determined. But the money soon dried up, soon enough he could not afford the medicine and he was forced to watch his wife die.

As Arnold reached the age of 3, it seemed his father’s depression had finally come to a halt. He began to cherish his son now, as it was all he had left of his wife. As his son grew older, he taught him the basic skills of defending himself in case he ever came across a dangerous situation. As Arnold reached the age of 7, it became apparent that he had a way with words. He knew how to get people to support him, or to understand their feelings. As Arnold came to the age of 9, he began to wonder why unlike his friends he had

no mother. This seemed to be a big mistake however, because it was from then that his father began to act

strange. He explained to Arnold the cause of his mother’s death and it caused him to burn inside. The next week Arnold's father went missing, Arnold had just at a friend’s next door when he found the door ajar. He began to panic,he had no idea where his father could be and didn't know what had happened.

That whole night Arnold stayed awake, hoping and waiting for his father’s return. Just as it seemed his father was not returning, there was a knock at the door. There he stood, cold and damp with mud splattered over his clothes. When Arnold questioned him of his location he simply said that he would see soon.

Arnold's tenth birthday passed and his father had bought him a training sword to practice with. For days Arnold would walk around the house attempting to joust the household objects. It was a month after his birthday that his father walked into Arnold’s room. He seemed just as normal as any other day and told Arnold that he had a surprise for him.Arnold followed his father into the woods where he led him to a small opening, and there it was. Laid down on a mat of sorts was an assortment of bones, his mother’s bones. Arnold screamed, he was horrified and sprinted through the forests as fast as he could. It didn't take him long before he came up to the guard barracks, he told them of his mother’s bones and told how his father had gone deluded. As the guards came up to the opening they saw the dead body of Arnold’s father right next to his mother’s bones.

Arnold was then adopted by one of the priests in the Holy Oren Empire. He helped Arnold overcome his grief and helped adapt Arnold’s way with words. When he reached the age of 12 the priest taught him his beliefs of the gods and how to respect them. From then on the priest cared for Arnold until he finally became a man, once he hit the age of 18 he bought a house for himself in the Holy Oren Empire and joined the ranks of the army to gain himself money.

Now Arnold Ranch is 24 and has left the army to explore the world of Asulon, who knows what adventures await.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst travelling from the Cloud Temple you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

*Approaches the men with a stern look on his face.* Now now, there is no need for that gentleman. Why don't we return this man back to the ground and the local guards won’t need to know anything about this. The men sneer and look at Arnold "why would we do that? I see no guard around here, maybe we should delve into your pockets aswell". *Arnold smiles at the men." Well ofcourse you could do that however last I saw is that there's a group of them heading this way right now. *The mens expressions change as they glare at eachother". *Arnold continues on, obviously enjoying the fear he's striked.* "I wouldn't want to be caught by a group of them, would you? You'd be best to go home with an empty pocket than be thrown in a cell with no pockets at all. *The men make a hasty decision and drop the hafling and make a quick escape down the road.* *Arnold approaches the halfling on the floor and lends out his hand.* *The hafling takes it and speaks to Arnold.* Thank you sir, but they still stole most of my money. *Arnold smiles and hands him a satchel of coins.* It's okay, use this for a safe trip home. *The hafling nods at Arnold and thanks him once again before dissappearing down the road.* *Arnold then mutters to himself.* It's a good thing they believed that, any longer and they would have gotten suspicous.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is

standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

*Approaches the man with a satchel of gold jangling in his pockets.* "Hello there sir, how are you on this fine morning?" *The man at the stall laughs and says.* "I'd be alot better if you could purchase some of my goods I've got for offer." *Arnold smiles and says.* Perhaps it's your lucky day then, what's that over there? *Points to an odd powder of sorts.* "Ah, well that is Suplher right there, espically good if your looking for something to keep your guests entertained, it is most frequently used for explosions". *Arnold chuckles and replys.* I'm not sure I could trust myself with something like that, perhaps you can interest me with something else? *The merchant nods and asks.* "Any good with a blade?". "Perhaps, what type of blade are you selling?" *The merchant points to a large iron blade settled on a crate.* "What's your price for it?" *The merchant smiles, thinking he's made a sale.* "I'll sell it to you for 100 Minas sir, best price you'll get." *Arnold shakes his head.* "Perhaps I'll look elsewhere, good day". *Walks away from the stall.*

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

*Approaches the hut looking startled.* How odd. *Arnold walks through the ajar door and notices the open chest, he takes a peak inside.* "This looks like a survilist pack of sorts, perhaps it belongs to an adventurer, how odd of them to leave it so open like this. *Arnold scans the room looking for something suspicious.* Unless.. *Curses.* A trap! *Arnold rushes out of the door to worried to look around him, he immediately makes a mad dash towards the forest, when he feels safe enough he stops to catch his breath.* *Arnold then goes on to question himself.* "Perhaps it wasn't a trap?Perhaps it was simply just a adventurers home". *Letting curiosity get the better of him, Arnold makes a slow walk back.* *As he approaches the hut, he notices something odd.* "Hm, these trails where never here before, they can't be mine either as I headed the oppisite way.. *As Arnold catches sight of the Shack, he hides behind a tree, relising that it was indeed a trap.* "I was right! There must be about ten bandits here, I should head back before they scout the area. *Arnold then creeps away from the shack as silenty as a can, making sure not to be heard by the bandits*.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

*Arnold approaches the camp with caution, before finally realising that they are netrual.* "Hello there, It seems I've taken the wrong turn and lost my way, could you tell me where I am? *The leader of the camp smiles.* Of course, you've stumbled across the Oren trading camp. *Arnold looks puzzled.* Oren? As in the Holy Oren Empire? *The leader nods*. "Oh, that's a relief! That was my intended destination. *Arnold's stomach growls*. "I don't suppose perhaps you have some food I can purchase of you? It's been a long journey and underestimated how much food I needed". *The leader smiles*. "Ofcourse, you can have some for free, we have more than enough here". *Hands him a few loafs of breads, which Arnold takes.* "Thank you, perhaps you can tell me the direction I need to head to get to the Holy Oren Empire?". "You just need to go southeast from here and you should come across a path, from there it should take you there, good luck traveller. *Arnold expresses his thanks once again and heads of in search of the path.*

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been

staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

*The head guard approaches Arnold and informs him of the situation.* "I'd like to help sir, however my swordsman skills are not its best and I don't think my persuasion will work in this situation. *The guard grunts.* "I don't care how good or bad your swordsman skill is, all I know is that one is better than none!". *Arnold nods.* "As you wish sir." *Arnold follows the group of guards out onto the road where the bandits are settled.* "Perhaps I should at least try and negotiate with them first?". *The guard smiles and pushes Arnold in front of the bandits. "As you wish." *Arnold looks uneasy as he says.* " Now gentleman, I propose you give yourselves up now and save yourself the hassle of fighting, I'm sure a reduction to your sentence can be in order aslong as you come in without any fuss. *The bandits spit on the floor.* "We aint given ourselves up that easy, an I'd like to see you stop us!". *The guard turns to Arnold.* "As I suspected, get home Arnold I'll spare you against this blood bath". *Arnold nods and without hesitation walks back to the city*.
