Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Megurine

How old are you?: 16

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT -5, USA

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm currently entering my senior year of high school. I enjoy roleplaying, although I can be a bit shy around certain people.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: It depends greatly on my schedule for the week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I've had plenty of experience roleplaying and getting into the heads of characters (although not quite as much as I'd like, given the shortage of good RP partners lately): to me, it means assuming the role of a character (original or not) and improv-acting your way through some of their experiences.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've been roleplaying on Livejournal and tumblr for some time, and I've been on one other Minecraft roleplaying server before.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: A player "meta-games" when they shape their character's actions using knowledge that their character doesn't have, but they do.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: A player uses "power-emoting" when their character acts without giving the other character time to react, essentially dictating what the other character does. (Ex.: A "shakes B's hand" rather than "reaches out to shake B's hand".)

In your own Words, define what Out of Character (OOC) is: Out Of Character describes a period when players converse with each other outside the roleplay framework: in other words, it's not their characters talking to each other, it's the players.

In your own Words, define what In Character (IC) is: In Character describes a period when players converse and act as their characters.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I'm expecting fair-to-middling roleplay skill and a pretty impressive world to play in. :3

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I don't recall the name of the other server I played on - my time there was short-lived, as the other player I joined with (our characters acted as a team) left without warning.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yep.

How did you hear about us?: Through the Minecraft server list.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Nope!

In-Character:

Character Name: Shir Passeri

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): None

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Shir was born an out-of-place beige in a settlement filled with Southerons, to upper-class and relatively stable parents. From the beginning of her life, she was witness to the political machinations and ruthlessness endemic to the southern regions -- attending parties and gatherings as a lace-covered accessory, she absorbed more of the conversations than her parents were usually aware, and from an early age she began to fear and resent the power plays so common in her parents' lives.

In the last year of her life in the city, she fell madly in love with another young woman named Catherine, of more noble and observably Southern birth: when the couple's secret meetings were discovered, they were separated by force, and Shir was blamed for her "corrupting influence". The effects of such a scandal took a toll on her parents' careers as well, making their posts nearly unbearable. Outraged and deeply hurt, Shir struck out on her own, bearing a grudge against the "civilized" society that cast her out.

Shir is now 24 years of age, and living as separated from human society as possible, usually only entering town for crucial supplies. She wears short-cropped hair, dyed brilliant red, and an odd mark under her eye. When travelers pass through her neck of the woods, usually hungry and in dire need of a bath, she will usually grudgingly take them in and send them on their way: if they appear to be living in the wilds as she does, however, she will treat them with somewhat more kindness, as she is secretly somewhat lonely.

What are your Character's ambitions?: To live uninterrupted, by the side of a lake or a stream, completely self-sufficient, with one or two companions. She's not a very ambitions type.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Probably the bucket. Shir has a soft spot for water features.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Shir has trained her voice often and lovingly in the relative silence of the woods: however harsh her words are, the tone is impeccable, and her songs have lured several unsuspecting travelers into her territory. She enjoys folk songs.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): vd0ep3.jpg

Other Information about your Character: None needed that I can think of.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Shir isn't the type to swoop in for a grand rescue. She might, however, make an attempt to distract the two men so the halfling can escape: tapping them on the shoulder and starting a harmless argument, for example. She's not all that coldhearted.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? When Shir is in a civilized area, it's usually for a specific reason. She might scan the merchant's wares critically searching for bargains, something she can't find easily in the wilderness: but if she finds none, she'll likely walk right by him and his silly accent.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Shir examines the hut suspiciously, searching for traps. She can't accept right away that there would be such a bounty sitting open in the wilderness. If she finds none, she enters the hut and removes the iron bars carefully from the chest -- but she leaves the golden sword. You could fetch a reasonable price for a trinket like that in the big city, but it's no use to her.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Shir wishes that she had never gone searching for wild pigs, but she does ask for a bite to eat. She isn't too prideful to request food when necessary, and this is a small enough settlement that she doesn't think she'll be turned away at the door. If she's offered food or shelter, she thanks them - not gratuitously, but enough - and accepts without too much conversation at first. She might spend a night at the campfire, for the occasional human company that she needs.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Shir doesn't live in a town. If, however, hypothetically, her house had burnt down and she was in the inn for temporary lodgings, she would most likely walk right past. If she comes across the bandits, she can deal with them on her own: it's the city's problem, not hers. She's only a temporary resident, after all.

Anything else you would like to say?: If I'm not accepted and I die for lack of a decent roleplay, it's all your fault. :( (Not really, but, you know. I might as well pin the blame on you guys, for posterity.)

Your application has been...

Accepted!

A very decent application. I'd have liked to see longer ORQs, but I think you demonstrate a solid grasp on roleplaying.

Welcome to Asulon! Please wait patiently for a GM to whitelist you.
