Mindboggler 1 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Mindboggler How old are you?: 16 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: United States Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I do, although I do make errors in my spelling at times. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Ehh… I can’t really think of anything to say about myself. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: My online time can be a bit unpredictable at times, but I will probably be on for long periods of time each day, depending on my mood, things happening around me, etc. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I know the essentials of holding RP conversations and how to execute Roleplay fights. Roleplaying, to me, is when you place yourself into the shoes of another being, manifesting their personality, skills, and form. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have been Roleplaying for a majority of this summer on a MC server, so I would say it is not such a new concept to me. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when you use information you have ascertained Out of Character and apply said information while In Character. IE: You hear someone say “Going to X” then head to that area, and intercept them, or you see someone’s name in chat, but have never met that character, then calling that person by that name to get their attention. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-Emoting? I think this is the same as Power-Gaming, correct? Anyway, Power-Gaming is when you force your actions upon a fellow player. IE: Gregory sends his axe deep into your head, splitting it in half, killing you. Or, here is a smaller example; Vance pushes you out the way of the oncoming car. What do you expect this server will be like?: Well so far I am having mixed feelings. On one hand, I think it might be a spectacular experience, why else would so many people play it? On the other, it might just be a mix of terrible players, and watered down RP, but so far I am getting a good vibe from this server. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I played on a Roleplaying Server called “Fallout: Sins of Our Fathers” I had made it up to admin, but I left after making several follies, and decided it would be best to just… Disappear. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read your rules, and I do agree to them. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I do promise to follow your rules. How did you hear about us?: Went to the MC Forums, saw you guys were at the top of the list, checked out your forums, lore, ect. I found it intriguing, and decided to apply. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/67010-rokezz-mindbogglers-whitelist-application/ In-Character: Character Name: Horracio Tredway What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Southeron Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Age: Nine-teen Personality: He always maintains a serious disposition, and is rarely found in a joking mood. He is very studious and likes to spend time invested into gaining knowledge from tomes and books. He likes to avoid combat, if possible. He values self-preservation above all else, but is normally good of heart if his own life isn’t in danger. Appearance: His eyes are a light-brown tone, his hair a sleek black. He has a light complexion. His build is tall and lean. He is clad in a grey-green and brown intricate robing, that reaches down to his feet. His feet are covered by a pair of black boots. I was born to a family of historians in the city of Arethor. (This is the Human Capitol, correct?) This in the end turned out to be beneficial for me, this being because for as long as I can remember I had been infatuated with the written word. I had an especially deep obsession with the tales of Wizards, Mages, and Sorcerers. This fascination came to dominate the whole of my existence. Throughout the majority of my childhood, I began working for the needed supplies, so that I could venture forth onto the world, to find the magical knowledge of the world around me, and try to gain access to The Mages Order. I finally had earned up the Mina to leave my home late into my nineteenth Year. What are your Character's ambitions?: He wishes to, learn how to cast spells, join The Order of Mages, become a master of Wizardry, own a small collection of precious gems and metals, own a modest home, perhaps a tower at some point in the future. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Lacking much of the physical strength of a warrior, he prefers using The Staff, or small weapons such as a dagger. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He is notable for his ability to learn skills at a fast pace. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): Other Information about your Character: Nothing I can think of. Open-Response-Questions Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I walk down the dirt trodden path, map in my hand deciding where to head next, I look up to the scene before me. I consider what to do. First I think of approaching the group stealthily, sinking my dagger deep into the neck of one the guards, and then telling the Halfling to run. I shrug the idea off. That would be far too dangerous. I consider distracting the guards by throwing a rock at one of their heads, then telling the Halfling to run… Then what, get arrested? This won’t work either, I disregard the idea. In the end, I leave the Halfling to the fate before him, and continue walking. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Drawn in by the charisma of the merchant, Horracio begins to parooz through the trinkets and baubles of the stall. I eventually come to a dazzling golden necklace with a large emerald as its centerpiece, and I pick it up so that I could examine it.“Aye, that there is Dwarven craft, only the best!” The merchant declares. I eye him cautiously, and pull out a loupe I had acquired several years back. Immediately The Merchant is unsettled by this. As I closely examine the jewel I notice something, there are no flaws or irregular patterns on the stone. A scowl grows over my face. I shove the necklace into the face of the merchant before me. “You think you can get away with such atrocities in your store!” I yell at him. People begin to stop and take notice of us. “Please, please, stop yelling. Look what would it take for you to keep this between you and me?” The merchant asks me. I consider what I want, and if I really want to do this. I decide to take a few tomes he had on him, as well as a bit of meat and a flask. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: A begin to smile as I notice it is abandoned, I cheerily approach the door, its wood old and decaying. I turn the nob, and tug on the door. It’s old age having made it stuck in place. I frown, and then I come up with an idea. I pull the heaviest tome from my satchel, and prepare to throw it towards the nearest window. “What are you planning to do with that book?” an old voice speaks up. I jump a little surprised this, and drop the tome with a heavy thud. I look towards an old man, not far from me, a rake cradled in his left arm. “Sorry my mistake, I thought this place was abandoned.” I tell the old man. He slowly approaches me. “Well that wasn’t a nice thing to say about the décor.” The man jokingly says. I fake a laugh, as to not upset man who I almost robbed. “Come on in, you must be weary from your travels, I will make us some tea.” The old man says. I oblige to the man’s request, and enter the hut. He serves me tea from an aged tin kettle I bow my head in thanks. “I guess you were after that sword over there, I should probably hide these things better.” The old man says to me, as I take a sip from the warm drink. I nod solemnly. “That sword there used to belong to my son…” He says without emotion. Getting the meaning I reply “I am sorry for your loss, and any trouble I may have caused you this day.” A moment of silence passes before he speaks again. “Awe, it’s nothing the worry about!” He says happily. We talk for several minutes before I leave, relieved I didn’t rob the place. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I approach the camp blissfully, happy to finally have found civilization. “Greetings friends, how goes you?” I say to them. I notice something instantly; the people look very tired, and weak. “Are-are you hear to rescue us?” a man shakily says. At this I look around at the camp, several tents barely any people. “What happened here?” I inquire. I am set down next to the ashes a fire long gone, and they begin to tell me of the happenings here. It turned out that the surrounding area had been frequent to zombie attacks, and they horrified me with tales of how they’re fellow men had been devoured by the living dead. And the worst part, they had lost their map, and had no idea how to escape the area. “Hmm, this is a dark time for all of us… If you all continue to stay in here, just waiting for help, you will all be killed. I propose we try and walk from here, see if we can find civilization. It would be better to die trying, than waiting. We parted from the camp within the day, and eventually made it to a small town, losing only a few of the people we had. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I consider for a few moments on whether or not I should assist, after evaluating my combat prowess I decide that I would be best used to assemble more troops. Instead I begin to travel to a town neighboring the one I am in. I search around the town for the town guard captain. I finally fine him in the local tavern reminiscing on past glory with his fellow guard. “I assume one of you can point me in the direction of The Captain?” One of them sarcastically points to himself, and begins to speak “Well yeh’ve find ‘im whatcha be needin’?” I move closer to the group. “The town over is planning to exterminate the bandit camp nearby, and I have come to ask for your assistance in this matter.” “They’re seriously going to do it?” The captain asks me. I nod to him. “Look kid, we barely have enough troops to run the town as it is, I’m sorry, I can’t help you.” He tells me. I begin to try and draw any charismatic hold I can, to convince him otherwise “The town will be fine while you are gone, and if you don’ t help, the problem will only escalate, soon the bandits may grow and attack your town. Do you really want this?” The captain stares at me for several seconds as silence descends on the room. “Tell ‘im we will be there.” I smile, head back to the town, and tell the town guard of my assistance. The following night is restless for me as I pace across my room in the tavern, contemplating what could be happening on the battlefield. I stare out the window at dawn, waiting for someone to return. My hopes begin to rise, as I see several figures arising from the shadows. The guards had defeated the bandits, the forces form the town over turning the tide of the battle. I was modestly rewarded for my act, and left the town the next morning. Anything else you would like to say?: I hope I am accepted, and can’t wait to join. Wizard 125 Share Posted August 14, 2012 This was a great app. Outstanding definitions pertaining to the aspects of fair role-play. The biography was well-done and told me exactly what I need to know about the background of you character and where he came from. Good use of solid lore which shows me you have looked somewhat into Asulon and the server. Your Open-response question were fantastic and showed me you are a capable role-player and I believe you will be a great addition to the server. I hope to see you sometime in-game. Also, just a note. Since your character wants to learn magic, he is going to have to RP under a teacher who is accepted. You can find all that information in the Magic App Section. Based on my reasons, you are hereby Accepted to Lord of the Craft. Don't disappoint me!
