*Zogtar sits in the sand in-front of his house, marking battle tactics out into the sand. He grows frustrated as the sand quickly becomes a mess and he looses track of his plan. He thinks for several minutes, trying to come up with a way to represent troops in a manner he can use. He has an idea, hurrying back to his house, he grabs a bundle of sticks, running back to his spot he sits down and drives the sticks into the ground, to represent troops. Zogtar smiles, very happy with himself. His happiness is shorts lived however, he soon gets confused as to what each sticks represents. Growling slightly, he draws his knife a carves a letter into each of the sticks, to help him remember their rank

After several hours he stops, lying back in the sand, smiling, thinking about all the new tactics he has invented. He wished he had some way to practice them though, as he is unsure of their usefulness. He thinks for several minutes, then sits up, smiling*

SNAGA, GED UWT 'ERE

*Zogtar hands his slaves a bundles of sticks, then orders her to set them up, as if she were coordinating troops, Zogtar does the same. He begins to test out the tactics he invented, evaluating the usefulness of each one. When he has finished, Zogtar is ecstatic, he thoroughly enjoyed the mock battle. He uses the slave quickly, then sends her back to his house. Zogtar gathers up the bundles of sticks, and runs off, looking for Shar'ku. He finds him in his house, and asks him to have a mock battle with him. After explaining how to use the sticks, he and Shar'ku have several battles. By the time they finish the sixth battle, it is dark, the two of them head back to their houses. Zogtar sits in his house, thinking about what he had done today. He realises that what he has created is a game. He decides that his new game needs proper rules and troops, he opens a chest, removing some bones. With his knife, he carves out several pieces:

12 Runts

4 Grunts

4 Brutes

4 Shaman

4 Nobs

4 Warbosses

4 Targoths

2 Warmistesses

2 Rexs

He marks out in the sand in-front of his house, a grid, 10 by 10. He places half of the pieces at one end, and half at the other, taking several attempts before he decides on a starting set-up he likes. He spends the entire night playing with the pieces, trying to decide on what moves they should do, how you should win, how to kill an opponents piece. When he has finished deciding the rules, he writes them down on a piece of hide.*

The Runt

The runt can move one, two or three spaces forwards on its first move, every move thereafter it only moves one space forwards. If the Runt reaches the opposite end of the board it is promoted to Grunt. Upon its next kill it is promoted to Brute.

The Grunt

Can move one space in any direction, upon its first kill it is promoted to Brute.

The Brute

The brute can move one space in any diagonal direction, and up-to two in any perpendicular direction.

The Shaman

the shaman can move one space in any diagonal direction, they can also kill a piece in any direction, within three spaces. In doing this he does not move, it is a ranged kill.

The Nob

The Nob can move one space in any perpendicular direction.

The Warboss

The Warboss can move up-to five space in any diagonal direction, or one space in any perpendicular direction.

The Targoth

Q1Wl5.png

The Targoth can move any number of spaces in any perpendicular direction, or one space in any diagonal direction, or 3 spaces in any perpendicular direction, then two spaces in any direction perpendicular to that line. If the Rex is killed, a Targoth may be promoted to Rex, he has to enter the Clan Fort, this counts as a turn.

The Warmistress

NZPpe.png

The Warmistress can move up-to three spaces in any direction.

The Rex

d9xSd.png

The Rex can move any number of spaces in any direction.

The Clan Fort

The Clan Fort must be Built after the fifth move and before the eleventh move. If the Rex is killed before the Clan Fort is constructed, the game is over. Once the Clan Fort is constructed it cannot be moved. A single piece at a time may enter the Fort, but he can only remain their for three turns, then he must leave. It can be placed on any square along the back row, its construction takes one turn.

Winning the game

If you kill your opponents Rex before the Clan Fort is constructed, the game is over and you win. Once the Clan Fort is constructed you must kill your opponents Rex and both of his Targoths and then capture his Clan Fort. If their is a piece stationed inside the Fort it cannot be captured unless their are three pieces capable of entering it.
