Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is when you take the persona/form of a character and act as them.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is when you use out of character information when you are in character. For example, meta-gaming would be if you were talking to other people out of character and they were planning a raid on your store, then your roleplay character cannot know about it.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is when your character does actions that are unrealistic or overpowered without letting the other players have a chance to react.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Beren Nénmacil

Character Race: High Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Beren stands at 6'4, with a slender, lithe form. He has cold blue eyes and a stern face, with unruly blonde hair running down his face. He is very quiet, and when he does talk, he is grim and morbid. He is usually seen wearing a red hood that covers his features. His leg is bust, and he uses his longbow as a walking stick. Beren is very good-natured, and does not like to see pain and death.

Beren was born in a small elven community, son of a noble lord. He was trained in a prestigious college from a young age, where he learned to master archery and throwing weapons. Beren was very bright, and has a vast knowledge of Asulon. He left his homeland to go to Malinor at age 64, to study. Whilst there, he met Resina, a beautiful young human. They became friends, and after four years, Beren and Resina were wed in the Malinor tree. They lived happily for a few years, and 23 years ago, Resina was heavy with Beren's child. During childbirth, however, Resina died, and Beren was left to care for the child, christened Elrohir. Beren was deeply saddened because of Resina's death, and went to ride to the Sanctuary to find someone to care for Elrohir, not wanting the burden of a child after what he had been through. However, when he was traveling, disaster struck. A horde of goblins attacked and ransacked Beren's caravan,  beating Beren into unconsciousness and kidnapping Elrohir, running into the Cloud Forest never to be seen again. Beren awoke later on, finding his leg mangled, and to this day, he still searches for Elrohir.

What are your characters ambitions?: To one day find his son and reunite as a family.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in role play. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

"Fine Dwarven artifacts! Swords, armour, and other fine wares!", the little man shouts, standing on an upturned box. I brush through the crowd, my hood covering my eyes, and turn to the Dwarf. "You, with the hood! I'd bet you need a good blade to fight, and defend yourself, eh? This one here, my elven friend, for you, fifteen Minas off!" the Dwarf babbles, holding a less-than-impressive iron sword. I stand quietly, pondering for a while, the little man stroking his beard. I hold up a finger, gesturing for the poor dwarf to wait a minute, and pull a small pouch from my pocket. I extend my hand and drop the pouch on the shopkeeper's table, the jingle of coin sounding as I do so. The Dwarf smiles. "What'll it be? I have this BEAUTIFUL short blade, with fine car-" I cut the little man off mid-sentence, speaking in a low tone. "I do not care for your wares, dwarf, but you'll need this coin." With that, I turn out of the store, and leave to go to the Ale House. I helped out the dwarf because I feel pity, and know that he needs the few minas more than I.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

While walking down the road, I suddenly hear commotion up ahead. Without being detected I sneak up and witness the large orc bullying the small and defenceless dwarf. "You should leave at once, orc.", I warn. The orc snorts, and continues to threaten this dwarf and paying no attention to me. As he lifts the dwarf by his shirt collar chuckling as he does so, I draw my bow and calmly load an arrow. The orc turns to me, and advances slowly, dropping the dwarf. He chuckles as he approaches me, cracking his knuckles. I remain stoic, and let my bowstring go. The arrow hits the orc in the foot, and he shrieks, falling to the ground. As he crawls away, whimpering, I stand over the dwarf. The little man backs up, crawling backwards, but I simply extend my hand to help him up. The Dwarf's eyes widen, and he begins to mumble. "Thank you, friend, I thought I was a goner, I'm sorry, how can I repay you?" But in mid sentence, I simply turn on my heel and walk away calmly, leaving the Dwarf wondering what just happened, and who his hooded saviour was.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

I am on my way to Malinor, when I see the elderly human slowly walking. Upon noticing the weakness of his stick, I decide to ask him if he is fine to walk these trails alone. As soon as I utter the first word, the stick breaks under the old man, and he falls to the ground with a grunt. His coin spills all across the road, and he curls up, hurt. I quickly stride to his side, and help him to his feet, as he cringes, visibly in pain. I  lean him down against a tree, and collect his coin, bringing all of them back to him and putting them in his shirt pocket. The old man smiles, despite his pain, and thanks me for helping him. "A good man... those are hard to come by.", he mutters. I spot a long-dead elven bush down the road, and gesture for the man to wait. Walking over to the tree, I swiftly snap a sturdy, long, branch off, and go back to the old man. Passing him the branch, a thin smile could be seen on my lips. "Thank you, friend.", the elder praises, as I continue on my path, pulling my crimson hood over my head.
