In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: acting out of character, or using knowledge that your in-game character would not have. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is the act of unfairly making a statement that negatively effects a player, usually the victim has no say in it. In-Character Details Character Name: Christian Malleville Character Race: human Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: I come from a family of fishermen, and just like my fathers before me, I too fish the seas. Growing up I’ve never had a real home or mother, for my father moved to where the business was and my mother died days after birth. Both my father and mother are northerners, I never saw my mother, but my father described her as diamond in the rough. She was always more of a rebel, and would likely do the opposite of what you told her, just to spite you. My father was much different, he was cool and reserved, and only spoke when spoken to. Ever since I can remember, my father emphasized independence; he taught me how to survive on my own and to never trust anyone. Above all I was taught to value hard work and devotion. We never had more than a few coins, however we weren’t poor either. My father always made a big deal of the fact that we were better off than some, and to never act better than those less fortunate. Despite the lack of a home, if asked, I would say the docks of Arethor are my home, for that is where I grew up for the early stages of my life. As a child I only had one real friend who stuck by me to this day, his name is Bromano Bailna. Our families have had a close relationship; our grandfathers and fathers talked often and held each other in high regard. Bromano taught me how to hunt, and I taught him how to fish. When I was 16, my father was found dead near a small brook, a knife wound in his back, and his coins gone. I picked up his jacket and knife and set off, disgusted in humanity for such a heinous act, and afraid to face the faces of my townsfolk, for pity was not welcomed in my family. This was the turning point in my life. After the death of my father, I wandered from village to village, fishing and selling my catch. I’ve been called a man of few words, and I don’t trust anyone. I’m neither hospitable nor cruel, and treat all the same. Some that come to know me say I’m an angel, shadowed by pain and a gruff beard. If someone needed help they would come to me, I’d accept no payment and say they owe me a debt that I’d never claim. In a way, I wear a mask, a mask of content and hardness. However I’m not happy and would like some companionship, perhaps a dog for I don’t think I have what it takes to be a husband or father. I’ve always been impressed by cities and would have loved to live in one. However fish aren’t that common on paved streets and bustling boulevards. Currently I’m 45, still wearing my father’s leather jacket, an off-white undershirt, leathers pants, boots, and a scruffy beard. I travel with my old friend Bromano and just try to get by. Despite all I’ve learned, I’m still human, meaning I’m never happy with what I got and I’m always looking for opportunities. What are your characters ambitions?: Have a permanent home, a dog, and perhaps a family. Maybe live in a city once he has enough money. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: http://s1336.photobucket.com/albums/o642/Seven7Skulls/?action=view¤t=2012-10-28_170850_zpsedba56bb.png Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He travels with his friend Bromano, they both hunt, fish, and travel selling their wares. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? I looked at the poor dwarf in front of me as he pleads to the oblivious crowd. Feeling in my pocket I find only a few coins, not enough to buy anything of use. In a gesture of friendliness I ask to see what he has, if only to show that I’m willing to trade with a dwarf. After rummaging through the bits and pieces displayed in front of me, I spot some feathers I may be able to use for fletching. Even though I have plenty of arrows at home, I offer him a fish and a coin. He hastily agrees and thanks me for the purchase. As I’m walking away, I feel some joy in knowing that one family won’t go hungry for the night. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? My first instinct is to help the dwarf, for the contrast in size is so great he wouldn’t stand a chance in a brawl. But then I begin to think, just because the Orc is making the treats, doesn’t mean he’s the bad guy. Without knowing who has the moral ground, I stealthy slide past, avoiding be caught up in the middle of a feud. Later on in the day I begin to wonder what become of the dwarf, guilt begins to gnaw at me as I imagine what could have happened. At the next town I ask if anyone has seen him, no one seems to know who or where he is. For days I was distraught over the scenario, thinking back to my father’s death, perhaps someone like me just slipped by the thief and let my father die. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: I helped the man up and gathered his coins in a bag I fashioned out of the hide of a piece of my undershirt. As I hand him his coins back I ask him what he’s doing out here alone and where he’s heading. If his destination is close to mine, I help him there, letting him just me as support. If his destination is not close to mine, I quickly make a new walking stick from a nearby tree branch and hurry away, worried the man might insist on giving me some charity for my efforts.
