Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying or otherwise known as "Rp" is when one takes on the mind and emotions of another character and acts as him which normally is different from how you would act in the real world.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is a concept that destroys realistic RP, its when you hear about something or learn something, or even see something OOC (out of character) and use it to your advantage in character. For example my IRL friend tells me that my town will be attacked by orcs soon, over team speak or skype or steam. My roleplay character hasn’t heard the info, but I have, I then go in game as my character and raise the alarm. THAT is meta gaming.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is when you do something in Rp that was not approved by whoever you are roleplaying with or you force an event to go a certain way. For example, “*swings his mighty sword cleaving the orcs head in two” instead of “*swings his mighty sword aiming for the orcs head”, power emoting is when you don’t give your opponent the chance/opportunity to react how they would like.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Rynald McHaryn

Character Race: Adunian (Axlrose4078 leader of the adunians says it all good)

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Rynald is 48 years old, he has short hair with light blue eyes, tan skin, and around the normal size for his race; 6ft 1. Rynald is a man of honor, valor, wisdom, and kindness. He does however drink most of the time and likes a good feast or festival when given the chance.

Rynald grew up in Arethor the great city of men. His father was an Adunian from the north while his mother was an Adunian that grew up in the east. As a youngster he was taught solid values that allowed him to be sociable and make many friends. His father had the occupation of a city guard serving under the banners of King Godfrey. Ever since he could remember Rynald wanted to be a soldier, he saw how his father treated civilians with kindness and he saw how the civilians in return had a lot of respect for his father.

When he was nine he began training in the art of sword play, his father the very man who taught him. Rynald was overjoyed at the prospect of learning the way of the blade and took to it with earnest, studying his techniques and listening to everything his dad had to say. Time went on and Rynald grew into a healthy strong Adunian, a skilled fighter but by no means a master. The time came when the guards of Arethor opened their fields to recruits willing to learn, Rynald took up the pledge and tried out as a guardsmen. However as luck would have it he was paired against a veteran knight who gave no ground and made him look like a complete amateur resulting in his refusal to sign up.

As a result Rynald grew angry with himself and sad that he had failed in following in his fathers footsteps, eventually he grew so shamed to look into his fathers eyes that he requested his fathers leave to travel the known lands of Asulon. In truth his father wasn’t disappointed in his son in the slightest, but seeing the shame in his son’s eyes he gave him leave to travel the lands. However on the condition that Rynald travel to the north, to Ildon capitol of the Adunians and take up arms in service to the rightful lord, Lord Artorus Elendil. So he travelled to his kin, cousins to his father.

However before he made it to Ildon tragedy struck and Artorus was slain by treachery . Arriving at winterhall in Ildon Rynald only found sadness, he was just about to head south when he chanced upon his fathers “Nephew” (in truth not an actual nephew but a good friend) Jock McHaryn, and so Rynald pledged his sword to the McHaryn clan and with it hopes to earn honour, glory and respect.

What are your characters ambitions?: Rynald wants to earn honour for his family, and redeem himself in his own eyes. He also wants to serve the McHaryn clan faithfully.

Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Forgeskinscreenshot.png

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is honour bound, extremely loyal, despises cowardice and unfaithfulness in all its forms.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

Rynald was walking through his home city Arethor looking for his father. His back ached from the repetitive training that he had been doing all day, his sword arm ached and he wished for a hot dinner and good nights rest. Making his way home Rynald noticed a poor dwarf trying desperately to sell an old beaten up iron pot. Turning to Rynald the dwarf says.

“Hail kind sir, would you be so kind as to apy me 12 minas for my pot, my wife won’t like it if I come home empty handed. Please sir, I only need to sell one thing for my dinner”. Looking at the pot and the dwarfs sad expression, Rynald reaches into his cloak and pulls out a small pouch containing 40 minas, speaking up he says.

“That’s a mighty fine pot sir, I think I’ll take that as well as that fine leather sword sheathe, 40 minas should be enough right?” In truth both items were barely worth 15 minas, but it didn’t matter for Rynald who threw the pouch to the joyful dwarf and picked up the poor quality goods and walked on home.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

Rynald pulled up his cloak, dust making him cough. He had been travelling for two days hoping to make it to the Riven inn when Rynald spied a small commotion up ahead. Loosening his sword in his sheathe he walks over to the duo seeing what the problem is. The larger figure’s back is faced to him while the smaller (obviously a dwarf) didn’t notice him for the fear so obvious in the small dwarfs eyes, speaking up the dwarf squeeked saying

“P-p-please sir, I h-h-have no money, the clothes and this small dagger is all I got, d-d-don’t take it. PLEASE!”. Laughing cruelly the orc replies.

“Little dwarf, perhaps I should gut you with your own dagger” ((Sorry for the lack of orcish dialect, I don’t know it very well)). Whipping out the dwarfs blade the orc pretends to gut him then and there. Speaking up quickly Rynald yells…

“You there orc, kill him and I swear I’ll gut you like a pig”. ((I know he doesn’t have a VA but you don’t need an evil to make threats right)). Drawing his blade Rynald stared the orc right in the eyes.

In truth the orc was nothing but a common bully, and the appearance of an obvious warrior with real steel made him slightly afraid. Turning around the orc pretended like he wasn’t afraid, yet the strong smell of urine said otherwise, within moments the orc was sprinting for the grove of trees 30 metres away. Turning to the dwarf Rynald offers his hand and together they travel the remainder of the night to the Riven inn.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

Rynald awoke with a grunt, looking around in confusion until he realized he was on the ship to Malinor. Getting up and stretching he made his way to the foredeck and found that they had taken berth in a small harbor in during the night. Rynald was hungry and bored so yelling out to the captain he decided to take a look around the small seaside town.

It wasn’t long before Rynald found the main road heading up to the village from the harbor. Up ahead Rynald notices a frail looking man, thinking it nothing Rynald continues until with a yelp the old man falls flat on his face, the remnants of a broken stick obvious at his feet. Rynald bends down and notices the pale glint of minas coins spilled across the ground, scooping them up Rynald helps the man to his feet, stows the minas in the mans dusty jerkin pocket, and helps him to the nearest inn. All the while making small talk to keep the mans mind off his obvious frailty.
