Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying would be the act of of pretending to take on the persona of someone else. This includes taking their personality through actions and conversations often with other characters.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming would be using non-RP information in order to influence the actions of your character. Basically, it is having the player know something and then transferring that to the player’s character, who should not know about it. If your character sees another character’s name-plate in game and runs over to it, this would be an example of minor meta-gaming.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power emoting would be doing RP actions that often let you have an unfair advantage against the other people in the RP. For example! If you were to have someone stab you, then in response you said “ Then[character name here] blocked the attack and killed you, you are now dead”.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Rielyn Iheiu’Hileia

Character Race: Wood Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Born to a family of gifted healers, Rielyn was an oddity in many ways. First his skin was lighter than that of many of the other Wood Elves, especially that of the ones that he called his parents. He also did not seem to share the ability of magical healing that had passed in his family. He has the eyecolor of blue and their hair color of dirty blond like the other members of his family, but he could not even channel the most basic of healing or protection spells. His mother, the main healer in the village outside of Normandor, gave up his training and thought of him as a lost cause. In this dejection, Rielyn found something that he was good at, something that he did seemed to be gifted in. The mixing of different flora into potions that could create a plethora of effects.

While with these potions he could heal to some degree, he could not use them to rival the healing magic in his village. He used this as his drive to create better and better potions through the course of trial and error to cure the most grievous afflictions. Given the plantlife in his area, as wondrous as it was, he could not get the right reagents necessary for the wounds that were needed to be healed. After seasons upon seasons of still trying to get the correct herbs for his work, At age of 150 years, Rielyn decided that in order to fulfill his goal of creating a form of healing from the bounty of nature that could rival the healing used by his family, he needed to leave the village and venture off to find new reagents that might create such concoctions.

The determination that Rielyn shows is his greatest strength, and his greatest weakness. He is often headstrong about topics involving his area of study, so much so that he is stubborn to when is comes to changing the way that he practices his art. Even if it is for the better. Through very friendly, he is often naive to a fault, a trait that many people are quick to take advantage of.

What are your characters ambitions?: Rielyn’s main ambition is to create potions that can compete with and even excel over the magics used by healers. This combined with the the want to gain more knowledge of this subject of learning makes him very determined.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

As I walked through the city of Arethor, moving through all the noise and commotion, I noticed a very peculiar sight! A dwarf running one of the stables in the city's market. While seeing a Dwarf in a busy city such as this is a novelty in of itself, the idea of a Dwarf running a stall in this Human city was different altogether, He seemed to have no one stopping at his stall and seemed to not be doing so well financially, his stall not looking as nice of the others was the biggest clue to this. As I was walking past staring at him, he made eye contact with me and started calling me over to buy something. To not be rude to him I decided to walk over. I could not make out what he said exactly, but his arm gestures were enough of a signal to me. As I got to the stall I greeted him and inquired about what items he was selling. “Sun smile upon you.....Dwarf. What sort of items do you sell at this market?” He responded in a mix of slurs in a Dwarven accent that I count not decipher. Though I made out the words “many” “goods” and “sale”, or was it “ale”? Anyway, I decided to ask him if he had anything that would be of use to me “Tell me, do you sell any amount of alchemy reagents?” He mumbled again, this time I was completely lost. “Reagents? Herbs?” Still no solid response in a positive light. I asked him one more time, “Plants? Plant stuffs?” This was the key word as he quickly gave a “Ah!” and went digging underneath the table stall. Few seconds had passed when he dropped onto the table a bundle of what looked grass with red tips on them. I would have asked for a price, but I know that would have gotten me nowhere. I reached into my pouch, grabbed some coin, and dropped them on the table. By the look at the Dwarf’s face, it seemed to be the right number, if not more. He took the coin and locked it into his chest, and I took the bundle of grass into my backpack. As I walked away the Dwarf yelled back something and I just smiled and waved. Still having absolutely no idea what he said, but I was happy that I helped him out by purchasing his otherwise useless and always abundant Bloodgrass.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

I ran over to intercept the conflict between the Dwarf and the Orc. I knew that I would be able to do nothing in a confrontation with it, there seemed to be no help on the road at this time of night and maybe having numbers against it will cause it to back off. As I run over to the duo they stop and see me coming. Both of them yelled at me, me having no idea what they said yelled to the Orc. “You have numbers against you Orc, this can not end well for you. Back away so that you might live another day.” Using the toughest bravado that I could muster in a situation such as this. The Orc Stood his ground and got more into a battle ready position , surely ready for a fight. The Dwarf readied himself as well. While the Dwarf may have the ability to stand toe to toe with it, this beast looked like a veteran of many battles, and as such I worried about the outcome of a fight between the two.I had to think quickly if I wanted to stop any upcoming fighting. Aha!

“Orc, come any closer to me or this Dwarf and I will splash you with this,” as I grabbed a vial from my front pouch. I showed the vial with the dark liquid inside of it to the face of the brute. “This concoction when splashed on skin acts like an acid. Do you really want to risk going blind over this Dwarf?” The Orc seemed to hesitate over this, while keeping a battle ready pose. As moments of the stare-down passed I made the call. “You asked for it beast!” In one fluid motion I through the vial at the Orc hitting him in the face. The Orc recoiled, dropped his war-axe, and started to yell. His hands moving to try and wipe away the fluid that had hit his face. I yelled at the Dwarf to run, and we both ran down the road way past the screaming creature. He ran, and we ran. The Orc’s yells getting farther and farther away into the dark night. It is funny how someone reacts to dirty water mixed with canis root, something so completely harmless, when you tell them it is something different.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?:

As the man fell the distinct snapping sound was heard as hit hit the ground. The scream of pain followed soon after. I went over to his side as fast as I could. In these few short minutes are the best for any remedy I have to work. “Hold still” I said as I looked to see where the wound was. Of course.... it had to be a break in his leg that caused it to rupture through the skin. How was it not his hip? But that was a question for another time. I rummaged through my bag, I know I have some things that can help this somewhere. Finally! Found it! A healing potion should help fix this, right? Gods I hope it does. I rummaged through the bag and produce another bottle. I opened the cork of it and poured some of the liquid contents of the bottle into a small bit of cloth that I had in my front pocket. I then wiped the wound with the soaked bandage. The man screamed louder than ever before. I then motioned for him to drink from the bottle I had offered to him, while my other hand moving to get the vial that contained the healing potion. The man agreed and took many swigs from the bottle, and then a few more. While he was doing this, I opened the vial of the healing liquid and poured it over the fracture. Grabbing another cloth from my pouch I soaked it with the rest of the potion and pressed down on his leg. “This is going to hurt, a lot, be prepared.” I told the man. In one swift motion I pressed down the wound to move the fracture into place. The man yelled, but not as much as the first time. Not surprising since alcohol does seem to reduce the pain felt. I wrapped the rest of the cloth around the leg and pulled out another one for good measure. I want to make sure that it will stay on. I help hoist up the man, and walk with him to the nearest city. “When we get to the nearest town you might want to find their healer. I might have gotten the wound sealed up, but you can never be too cautious.” The man nodded. “Bless you sir for helping an old man”, he slurred. I think he might have drank a little bit too much. With him around my shoulder, acting as his crutch, we walked down the path to the city, leaving the gold to shimmer in the sunlight..
