SirPrestonII 4 Share Posted February 24, 2013 So, I had a few questions regarding Vigilantism.. Does it require a VA? Say you are not affiliated with any army, or guards post of any kind. You simply don't like bad guys.. - You see a notorious villain hanging around the forest, you successfully catch him. Do you need a VA to "bring him in?" Or would this be considered Kidnapping? - Say you see a group of men who robbed a Tavern a few days before. You decide to Attack them, and bring justice. Do you require a VA for "non-provoked" attacking/killing? Would this be considered Assassination? Or Being a good Citizen? - You see an old lady being held up by a punk. Could you RP shooting an arrow at him, although you haven't actually confronted him yet? Or would this be similar to "assassination," or "un-provoked" killing? Just a few questions as my Character might consider doing some Vigilantism!
Aiden 173 Share Posted February 24, 2013 It has been said, from what I understand, if you see the person committing a crime on the spot you can help without a VA, but you can't hold a grudge or come back later and try to kill the person. So... 1. I would say yes, you would need a VA as the criminal isn't doing anything on the spot, and you said you weren't a guard. 2. Yes. Their actions happened in the past so you would need a VA or to be a guard to try to kill them. 3. I would say no, because you are witnessing an old woman being attacked. Your character probably wouldn't just stand there idly from the way you've described him. Good luck!
SparehoeCakes 547 Share Posted February 24, 2013 -It would be considered kidnapping. -You'd need a VA for non-provoked killing. Since people seem to stretch the provoked killing. Here is a clarification so there is no read between the lines, or grey areas. Provoked killing was made for when someone irritates and angers you to the point that there is no other idea in your characters mind(at that brief point of time and rp session) than killing the person. It is not in place for for like say, some people raid your village, then you raid them back. Or if something bad happens to someone you care about, then hours ,weeks ,months later, or IC years, you cannot go and kill them. This does not mean you can go out and just go kill them the next time you see them. Instead use your other options and create RP by hiring someone to do the action instead. This makes for better RP in the long run. Use the options available, or make a proper VA to do it yourself. -Please refer to the quote above to answer this question.
