Eventide Sparring

The sounds of battle echo harshly through the halls of Eventide’s Archaerus Keep.
A new applicant is being vigorously tested.
The swoosh of an attack, the dull thud of impact.
Both are audible throughout the keeps halls.

Mason Owynson pants heavily on one knee, his lip swollen,
looking up at the applicant with a crooked grin.
Raego stands over Mason with a fiery rage burning in his eyes,
blood in his gritted teeth, and a large bruise blossoming on the top of his head.
Both their wooden batons discarded.

Suddenly Mason lunges forward, attempting to tackle Reago to the ground.
A scuffle insues, as Raego collides with the cold stone floor,
showering a barrage of punches onto Masons back.
Mason struggles to keep his down, but Raego is persistent,
striking him on the back of the head causing him to recoil, rolling to the side.
Raego quickly takes his chance to retrieve both Batons and point them at Mason.

“I yield!” Mason winces, holding a hand above his head,
and Raego lowers the Batons.

“An great dual!” Exclaims Inquisitor Markuz, who had been overseeing the fight.
“Now, as the victor you get to fight with me.”



Reago passes a baton to The Inquisitor.
Markuz emits a light chuckle at the applicant’s confidence as they begin.
After some time Markuz too is defeated, despite his experience.
Raego takes heavy injuries however, and they are both sent to the infirmary.

“The Eventide Dominion surely attracts some of the greatest
warriors the world over!” Mason states as he tends to The Inquisitor.
“This is testament to that!”

Markuz does little more than nod in satisfaction.
