Election of the Okarir'hiylun: Voting; 7 SA

((MC name: Arachne_07 )) Name: Alluin Miravaris Vote for Okarir'hiylun: (XX) Seth Calith ( ) Valyris Wynasul -
Alluin needed a moment to think about his votes. He knew Ellisar to be competent, but his opinions were bordering on impurity, Valorin had some good debating points but was at the moment a Tahorren, a huge leap away from okarir'tir. He mainly approved of Olrin's points in the debates, but did not know the 'thill well. As he balanced out the options for a while, he finally casted his two votes and dropped the ballot into the box. Progress is the Republic VIII: Okarir'tir
Arachne_07 replied to squakhawk's topic in Silver City of Taliyu'lin
Alluin Miravaris had been listening to the nominations of the three candidates. He was still waiting for Zelios, who he expected to run, but as there was a silence, he took his chance. He was not planning to run for the position as he did the last few times. He already was short on time to spend with his family and interests, and he was not planning on burdening himself even more. However, after over a 100 years of servitude to elsillumiran, he would at least make sure to speak up about its leadership. "Valorin, I have known you from our earlier days among elsillumiran, and I know you as a valiant and capable 'thill. You speak of servitude and intricacy, and I know you as a mali who can make these terms true. Focus on training, both physical and in legaslative matters and Law, is an important part of elsillumiran, and worth the attention you are planning to give to it. However, you have been away for a long time. Do you not think this caused a gap between you and our mal'onnan who joined recently?" "Ellisar, you make a few good points. Your years of experience are valuable, and so are your ideas of strengthening our city's defences and setting up a system of intelligence gathering. However, in the last months I have noticed a shift in our conversations. As tilruir'sil, you do not only have the responsibility to serve elokarir'tir, but also to keep an eye on them. Why did you not take this responsibility and speak out against the path Celiasil Uradir was taking? When I asked about it, you tried to take a neutral point of view and concluded saying that the Silver Council approved of him remaining as okarir'tir. How are you planning to act if such impurity rises again? Will you stand by and say 'I can't do anything', again?" "Olrin, we have not properly met. I do agree to the points you bring forward and the restoration of maehr'sae hiylun'ehya, purity and safety which you have in mind. However, good ideas do not make you a good candidate for the position in of itself. You are not a sillumir and lack the shared experience Valorin and Ellisar can call upon. Were you to be elected, what are your plans to bridge this gap between you and the other officers and sillumiran?" Alluin, having finished his personal questions, crossed his arms with a small frown. "And, lastly, a question for all of you. Recently there have been worrying developments in our Blessed Bastion. All of you mention maehr'sae hiylun'ehya and purity. However, corruption and impurity are gaining presence, and every day more 'thill seem to fall in its grasp. What does everyone of the candidates think their place and responsibility is in this situation: a situation of rising mental impurity, of mali'thill befriending Azdrazi, valahan and sentient tree-creatures, shortly, lessers, a situation in which we allow another nation to threaten us and back down, a situation in which even the acid pits have been removed?" His voice was sharper at the last few sentences, afterwards sitting down to allow the candidates to answer his questions. -
Alluin received the note in silence, a barely visible smile appearing when he read the resignation. Celiasil may have had promise or talent, but his open tendency to impurity was a blemish on all of elsillumiran. He vaguely noticed Zelios' voice further away, slightly surprised at the open sympathy of his friend to a 'thill who was clearly defying maehr'sae hiylun'ehya. This, however, seemed not the right moment to address that. The time would come. One impure less, however, does not make a nation pure. There was still much work to be done.

Uhier Elokarir'nor! - To Find an Okarir'nor

Alluin would rise again. "Lliran, I am glad to see that my nomination brought life into this debate. However, I am announcing the withdrawal of my candidacy. The last few weeks have been a havy burden on my shoulders in trying to combine these debates, my duties as tilruir'sil and my family. This resulted in sleep depriviation and a lack of time to spend with my family and to do the things I find enjoyment in. As I am young and hope to live many more decades, I am sure another opportunity will arise to prove my qualities in serving you. For now, there are many capable candidates and I am certain they will fulfill the position properly." After this announcement, he would sit down and fold his arms, ready to be a spectator of the events for the first time in a while. [OOC: I like the position and responsibilities and the okarir'nor/ tilruir'leyun can always call on me for some grinding or architecture/ building, but my irl situation doesn't allow for another job. From September I will have a fulltime job and I am very glad about that, but it also means I will have much less time for rp – as I also have other hobbies. The time I have to rp I would like to spend on elsillumiran and just family and other rp 🙂 May the best candidate win!!] -

After what seemed an eternal silence, Alluin Miravaris rose from his seat. “First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Elathion for his service as okarir’nor. Even as he was occupied with other issues in the recent past, as far as I could see, he did an excellent job as okarir’nor. That is also clear in the fact that no one sees themselves fit to take over the position – it will me a challenge to match Elathion in the way he fulfilled his duties.” He paused for a little while, his eyes wandering over those gathered. “A challenge I am willing to take on. Most of you know me as tilruir’sil and sillumir – and it is true, I am a sillumir. I have been, and will be. But it is not the only thing I am – many can confirm I have contributed my share in diplomacy and resource providing.” He nods as to confirm his own words, spreading his arms slightly. “Ti, you are right – I have no direct experience for the position of okarir’nor. I will need help, as all of us do. However, my experience in diplomacy will help me sustain and establish trade routes with other nations to support and continue the healthy economy we have built up over the years. I know ways in which to acquire resources – our mines are rich, our soil is fertile, our woods extended!” He smiles faintly, looking around once again. “Of course, lliran, I am aware of the dire times we live in, the Infernal menace, the threat to the peace and stability of our Realm. My goal will be to provide stability and safety in our material needs. For the coming time, there is no need for the new taxing system that was rumoured on the streets. However, there is need of an assessment of our current resources and of the way these resources are used.” “And then, there is the Athera expedition. As the threat currently seems far away and the Azdrazi protect our Eternal Legacy, the need to move seems abstract and far away. However, we may not lack in our endeavours to ensure the safety of both elmali’thilln and our Legacy! As elsillumiran take responsibility for the immediate needs in that regard, it will be the duty of elokarir’nor to make sure there is a place to move to if the need arises – and so I will do.” He took a small breath, looking around a last time and stating simply: “Maehr’sae hiylun’ehya.” -
Alluin Miravaris listened to the news of the pact and people's comments alike, to find himself in the end agreeing with Saeldur. This pact was necessary for the safety of the mali'thill and their legacy, and reverence was acceptable for this pact and protection. However, the 'thill should be aware to keep their integrity intact – these were draconids, after all, and could never be considered pure.

Uhier Elokarir'tir - To Find An Okarir'tir!
Arachne_07 replied to Johann's topic in Silver State of Haelun'or
Alluin just had been following the ongoing debates between Storm and Celiasil. The past months he had been forced to divide his attention between these debates, his duties as interim-okarir’tir and his personal schedule – not a great combination, as the now visible dark circles under his eyes proved. As he hadn’t contributed in a while, he rose once more, inclining his head to both Celiasil and Storm. “Celiasil, it seems that earlier on, we both made the mistake of judging one another to quickly. I do much appreciate your contribution to these debates and see that you have some valid and strong points. I agree with Storm that we could use your experience among elsillumiran and would repeat his invitation to join. As for Storm, ahern ito nae’leh for your elaboration on anonymity. As stated earlier, I personally do agree with your opinion, but I would advise to gove both elsillumiran and the citizenry the opportunity to share their opinions and act accordingly.” He sighed, glancing at a note he was holding. “Celiasil justly pointed out that elsillumiran have been lacking in presence and for rallies. Currently, divkinael Aeth’sulier and I are the only officers, with Elahern also having his duties elsewhere as tilruir. Practically this means that he can take on a small portion of the Secretarial tasks – and I am doing the rest on my own. I am not stating this to take any credit, but what it implies is that all necessary tasks are carried out – yet, I cannot give any one of them the attention they deserve. I simply cannot make sure all administration is in order, schedule trainings, give trainings, be accessible for all sillumiran and their questions and problems, organise rallies, attend Council Meetings, and so on, and so forth. Certain issues suffer, and I am fully aware of that.” Alluin shook his head slowly, looking around. “My current state is not my best one, and neither is the current state of elsillumiran. I would be honoured to serve elsillumiran as their okarir’tir, to serve elcihi in upholding the Silver Law and with that, maehr’sae hiylun’ehya. And, of course, as Storm mentioned, a leader not listening to ideas, suggestions and criticism from others is a fool. Being an okarir does not mean pushing your own ideas at any cost, but striving for the betterment of elsillumiran, the Silver Law and Haelun’or. And that, lliran, is what you may expect from me, or from any of the other candidates.” -

Alluin leans back, listening to the other candidates and people gathered. He was positively surprised by both Celiasil and Haskir, and had nothing to add, only waiting for Storm's opinion on the Anonymity Issue. -

Alluin would rise once again after Storm was finished, inclining his head to the new candidate. Somewhat dark circles under his eyes made clear he had not been sleeping well last night – or maybe even nights. However, neither his attitude nor his voice gave this away as he directed himself to Celiasil, his expression stern. “Llir, you say to mean no disrespect, and simultaneously you do disrespect me as a person and tilruir’sil in front of this gathering, with statements and claims you have based on the pure surface of the current state of elsillumiran. You judge me for the things you see at first glance – which may be partly true, but largely not. Indeed, in my position as tilruir’sil, I have taken over Kaelan’s duties. However, you must know that also for me, his resigning came unexpectedly – which meant I needed some time to make clear what was going on: was Kaelan resigning for a definite or indefinite time? When that was clear, I immediately consulted with both divkinael Eath’sulier and elsohaer, and only from that moment on it was clear I was to take over as interim-okarir’tir. During these moments and afterwards I have been present in and around the barracks and at events like gatherings and weddings. Recruitment has not stopped – as you claim it to be – since the resigning of Kaelan Aldin, at least three new haleriran and gatekeepers have been interviewed and accepted. My other duties have been not so much visible – yet they were not absent. Much of it has takes place within the barracks: indeed, a place in which you could not have seen me at work. The beginning of a new training schedule has been announced to all sillumiran and haleriran, all necessary guides, the law book and the Constitution are being copied and extended to all the Weeping Blades, all necessary information is being gathered and updated – ti, invisible work, that is yet necessary. And this is only part of the duties I have been taking over. If the sillumiran have been lacking in their presence, which I doubt, there is no need to accuse me as the cause of that. You claim the Silver State to be vulnerable as of now, which may be true, but elsillumiran are growing in numbers and experience every week. I am around as much as my other duties and personal life allows me. If you think you are more capable than me, llir, so is your right. However, do not accuse me of things you have no knowledge of and no insight in." Alluin took a deep breath, seemingly tired of defending himself. “Celiasil, you speak highly of your own capabilities, experience and presence, yet I have seen neither of those, and you have not specified any. I have not seen you at any gathering or wedding as of recent, neither at the tavern. You speak of experience in fighting, yet you are no member of the Weeping Blades. What experience do you call on, specifically?” Finally, he averted his gaze from Celiasil, inclining his head towards Storm once more. “Storm, forgive me for not giving any attention to your speech. Your words are right and your experience is vast. You are a capable candidate, and you have my respect as a sillumir and fellow candidate. There is one thing I would like to hear your opinion on, as it was a question you asked Kaelan and me during the last debates: the Anonymity Issue.” After these words, he finally sat down, allowing the other two candidates to respond or one of the gathered ‘thill to react. -

Alluin Seregon arose from his seat after Celiasil finished his speech, allowing himself some time to look at the gathered ‘thill, while taking his usual stance, arms folded behind his back. “Dear lliran, fellow mali’thill, first of all I am here to express my regret that our okarir’tir, Kaelan Aldin, had to resign so soon after his election. His experience in military affairs and his affiliation with many of us have led to a renewed and powerful revival of elsillumiran. However, it would not serve his name, nor elsillumiran or maehr’sae hiylun’ehya, to keep our gaze fixed on what has been started, and not look forward. It is our duty to pick up what he started, and to continue from there. I will be running for okarir'tir in order to do so.” His gaze shifted to Celiasil. “With all due respect, llir, but I do not know you, and you are not a member of the Weeping Blades. Your loyalty to elcihi and purity are praiseworthy, but these are things to be expected in all mali’thill, and do not necessarily make you a capable candidate for the position of okarir’tir.” Alluin straightened slightly, having some experience from the earlier debates. “Lliran, you have all seen me running for this position before. You know the arguments I put up then, my decades of experience as officer and a few years as tilruir’sil, and for further elaboration on these arguments, I recommend you to read the reports on these debates.” “Apart from the things that were mentioned these years ago, I have been more often on duty, and have been at Kaelan’s right hand – together with divkinael Aeth’sulier – during the reform and revival of what is now a growing number of haleriran and sillumiran. I intend on continuing what okarir’tir Aldin started, apart from one thing.” He clears his throat. “In the last debate, the Anonymity Issue was a big question, and my opinion on it was clear: I did not wish sillumir anonymity to return. However, as Kaelan was elected okarir’tir at the time, I do not wish to push my opinion on this matter. I wish the Anonymity Issue to be discussed again, during these debates or afterwards, and take a decision based on these debates and, when necessary, a vote.” Alluin took a breath, allowing the ‘thill a moment to let his words sink in. “I encourage all of you to ask questions, or add otherwise to the debate.”
