โ๏ธ ON THE LAW OF THE COUNTY OF AESTERWALD & LORDSHIP OF TROST
In the year 2074 of The Age Of Man, it was decreed by the Lord of Trost-Aesterwald in council with the Knights of The True Sun, that the laws of Trost-Aesterwald be codified and written for the public of all the known lands of The Emperorโs Continent of Azuras.
Any who enter the boundaries of Trost-Aesterwald, as outlined in the Emperorโs decree, shall henceforth adhere to the local law of Trost-Aesterwald.
โ๏ธ ADMINISTRATIVE LAW
THE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF
Elected every month of the Sunโs Smile (OOC MONTH), a citizen of the fiefdom of Trost shall be raised to the position of Sheriff. The Sheriff of Trost shall enforce the laws of Trost-Aesterwald when the Lord is not present. The Sheriff of Trost-Aesterwald, even if he is not a Knight of The True Sun, shall be permitted to form a posse deputizing those under his purview, raise a temporary militia levy, enter a household without a warrant, and hold final say over punishment in criminal matters, only giving way to the Lord of Trost-Aesterwald. The Sheriff shall be permitted to live within the wardenโs house connected to the townshipโs jail and criminal lodgings during the duration of his tenure.
The Sheriff of Trost is expected to uphold Chivalric Law even if they are not a Knight of the True Sun.
CITIZENSHIP IN TROST-AESTERWALD
A citizen of Trost-Aesterwald is a permanent resident of the county with lodgings, a soldier stationed within the fortress serving the Lord, any servants serving the castle, or a dependent of another with permanent lodgings. Citizens of Trost-Aesterwald are permitted all the rights entailed in The Rights Of The Citizen. Only a human of the age of eighteen may own property within Trost-Aesterwald. All other races are barred from owning or renting property.
Citizens of the Imperium are permitted rights within Trost-Aesterwald; however, their rights differ as outlined in The Rights Of The Citizen.
COURT OF AESTERWALD-TROST, DEFENDANT HOLDINGS, CRIMINAL HOLDINGS
Every week of the Sunโs Smile (OOC week), a court will be held for those who have been accused of violating the law of Trost-Aesterwald. Unless an issue has arisen that requires immediate judgment, subject to the Lord and Sheriffโs approval, citizens of the County and Imperial Citizens may appear on this date to defend themselves. If a lawyer cannot be found by the accused party, they may defend themselves or have an attorney assigned to them by the Lord.
Should a citizen of Aesterwald-Trost or the Imperium of Man be accused of a crime, they must be housed in the defendant's lodgings and pay rent for the period of their holding. If a citizen can afford to pay for lodging in the rooms of house arrest, they will be permitted to live there until their court date. Should they flee the township, they will be breaking the law and charged with fleeing judgment. If a defendant cannot afford such a cost, they must remain in a jail cell until the time of their judgment.
In the event they refuse to wait, a defendant who is a citizen of Trost-Aesterwald or the Imperium of Man may request immediate judgment from the Lord or his Sheriff; however, in this event, they will not be granted access to a lawyer.
