You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) "Ah, hello you wish to know my story, do you?" asked Farath sitting on the cushion gestured to him, "I suppose I have to start with who I am and what I aspire to be here don't I? Farath questioned as he raised his fist to his chin ready to tell his story, facing the tent wall he begins, "I am Farath, I am quite the cautious type" Farath described, "I have trouble trusting people because of experiences of people betraying me in the past, but we will get to that later". Farath said squinting suspiciously "I am quite distant, cold, untrusting, hot-headed, and overall callous before you get to know me, but once you get to know me I become most compassionate, caring, trusting, loyal, and loving if I do say so myself, I am also very easy to communicate with once you gain my trust" Farath cleared his throat as he readied himself to tell the next part of his story. "Advancing, I only have one aspiration throughout my time here, and that is to have a reputation as a great, hardworking, individual across the human-breached lands of Almaris" Farath declared proudly, "if that be through vigorous days of farming, or just searching for people in need of help and doing what I can to assist them in whatever predicament they might be in, then so be it." Farath went quiet for a moment, before beginning to explain his fears. "I have little fears, but one fear that has mentally scarred me for life, is my fear of being betrayed by someone close to me, as I mentioned earlier I have had experiences in the past of people backstabbing me, but one of these experiences I'll never forget". Farath whispered sombrely, "when I was younger, on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Balian, I had a childhood friend, we were so close and had spent so much time together since childhood, that when we became adults we could read each other like an open book." A slight smile crept onto Faraths face before quickly disappearing as Farath adjusted his position on the cushion, "one night, I woke up to the sound of a sword being drawn, I opened my eyes to see my friend holding a sword above his head ready to strike, only this wasn't my friend, this was a deranged lunatic who was hell-bent on killing me, I could see it in his eyes. Farath said with a hint of sorrow in his voice as his eyes began to fill with tears, "he struck down where he knew I was laying, only I wasn't there, I was headed for the hills, running for my life, I can still hear the scream of frustration that he let out after finding out I had escaped, it haunts me. Farath squirmed and wriggled slightly as he continued, "I know why he did it the sick, twisted fellow, I know that I am forever burdened with the fear of trust, with deep-rooted trust issues, for the rest of my life." Farath hung his head for but a moment, and rubbed his eyes before resuming, "I must now tell you about my backstory eh? so be it" Farath Pauses for but a swift second before beginning again "I am from a camp that my mother and father set up for us to live in, across the outskirts of the Kingdom of Balian, father was never around much he was always out hunting and farming to make ends meet, so I was raised by my mother for the most part". Farath explained, "My mother was a very kind hearted, caring, but also stern person, she like me is from the outskirts of a different Kingdom" Farath goes into further detail "She was an outcast and she had quite the rough childhood, like me she had one parent because her mother died when she was incredibly young, and even then her father was a dead-beat, so she practically raised herself". Farath explained with a despaired look on his face, "as for my father, like I said he was never around much, but from what I can gather from the little snippets of information he has told me and from what my mother has told me about his past, he was a farmer from the Kingdom of Norland, who got bored of that and decided to adventure off on his own, and that's when he met my mother." Farath went on, "my education from childhood was mostly about wars and the history of them taught to me by my mother, specifically the war Acre Rebellion, and the war Hyspian Schism". Farath exclaims with a glint in his eye, "My favourite was always the Acre Rebellion war personally just because of the Kingdom of Oren which I have always been interested in". Remarked Farath "Going forward a few years, is when I met my best and closest friend, we would go on adventures together, all across the human allocated plane of Almaris, we would go out and not come back till dark, we would leave our families worried sick for hours sometimes". Stated Farath excitedly, "We were the closest of companions and he was my motivation as I moved into adulthood and my parents began to pass on, my reason to live even" Farath boldly claimed "we would eventually start to take on the farming and hunting responsibilities as our fathers and mothers got older, and soon we were upkeeping my fathers farm". Farath would say turning to face the old hag finally giving her insight, "but then, soon after my fathers passing, in the dead of night, as I said before, my friend turned on me, to get the farm, the food, along with the camp, all to himself" Faraths eyes starting to swell with tears would once again turn to face the wall, "He succeeded in that goal, and I've been a loner ever since, which is what brings me here today, wanting to rebuild my life as a stand up citizen of Almaris!" Farath says optimistically as he stands up from the cushion and faces the old hag. "That is my story, thank you for listening to it my dear, but now I must get out there, and fulfil my aspirations, goodbye". Farath ducks out of the tattered tent, and begins his journey to become what he knows he can be.
