  1. The vote count doesn't so much matter to me as does the strength of the arguments presented. I suggest focusing on reason over sheer numbers.

Well, doing nothing now is forcing something on half the server, when you think about it.

Well we can't do anything about it since it is already set in stone, why bother argue something that can't be changed.

Isn't the whole reconquest thing happened with like, Romans and Nazi Germany in the real world? And in the end they had too much land to defend.

Reconquest is based off the Spanish Reconquista.

  5. Anyone know where latin stands in the lore? I've heard different things.

The reason is looked down on is because it was the official language of the Undead.

Thanks for clearing things up Ptah. Do you think we should just look past it, at this point, or get scared when we hear the ancient tongue of Iblees' champions? It wasn't a publically used tongue, if I recall, but it would still be mysterious, I imagine.

    4. Patrick.

      Patrick.

I know one man who calls it the tongue of science in game. Of course, it is almost vain to argue a point with one who's established that with themselves, so I refrained from doing so. I know it may sound a tad over the top, but a post of the matter would definitely clear some things up in order to prevent lacking immersion.

  6. This is a really neat take on vampirism, and a pretty subtle one, at that. I think what I enjoy most about this lore is its characterization of the affliction. With vampires, there is a kind of unseen force or blood disease that causes the vampirism. You can't really see it or interact with it, which is part of what makes a vampire a vampire. With these Skin Dragons, however, the disease itself has a character. I think this is pretty darn interesting, especially because this parasite can apparently remove itself (which I was wishing for, while I was reading). Because the parasite leeches abstract things from its host, like intelligence and emotion, it can grow in mind and spirit, and thus character. It is a very literal voice in your head and not just a simple compulsion. What makes things more interesting is that it can remove itself, presumably to find another host. In this case, though, does it retain whatever intelligence and maturity it gained from its previous host? It would be pretty cool to have a parasite jumping from character to character, building its own identity to be passed from host to host. It also helps characterize some mental illnesses to an extent, like schizophrenia or dissociative identity disorder, and makes them concrete, which fits well with fantasy and fairytale type aesthetics. It represents disorders like these metaphorically, which always appeals to me. Solid job, dude.

An utterly incredible addition to the lore. Are you planning on picking up that role play?

I don't think I'd be at the center of it myself, if it gets accepted, so I'd need people to bite into it and get it going. It would likely start with someone finding the journal somewhere in the world and going from there. Thanks for the huge compliment by the way!

  8. Wondering if I should throw a "complete" tag on my lore thread.

  18. Hey, glad to help man. I trust you'll be getting into some solid adventures in no time. It's probably the best time to be a character like that. Keep a look out for antagonist related stuff, too, because believe you me, I spent a solid few months being curious about the Undead back in the day and it was some exhilarating stuff (and a great deal of character development came from it, too!).
  19. I would suggest keeping an air of seriousness with your character, and possibly some sort of concrete purpose to back up his curiosity. Think about someone like, say, Indiana Jones. He's one curious bastard, and he accomplishes a lot of the things you describe for your character, but Indy doesn't do the things he does simply out of curiosity. What Indy sets out to do is secure artifacts for study, display in museums, and to keep them out of the wrong hands (it just so happens that Nazis get in the way and throw several wrenches in his plans). Of course, I'm not suggesting that you roleplay as Indiana Jones, but to keep him in mind when it comes to curiosity. Without something concrete to keep your character from seeming on-the-nose, he might feel more like a cat, which some people might find frustrating. Perhaps look for work at the Mage's Guild (or is it College, now?). Of all the people in the world, they probably need curiosity the most, as theirs is the study and mastery of arcana; all that is secret and hitherto unknown in the world. They would thrive on oddities, curiosities, documentation, and theories based on observation. Hell, they even keep a "Kraken" in the bathroom. If anything, they would be able to provide insight and direction, or at least someone to please, even if your character isn't involved in the practice of magic. Unfortunately, the hour is late and I'm not the most thoughtful at the moment, but if I think of anything else to say, I'll post again.
