The eventline just wrapped up last night, actually! 
There was a big portion of tainted land after a voidal fallout happened in 'Ando Alur,' what was previously a city residing on that land. I can't remember the exact reason for the fallout but it was something like a rift/tear opening up in ando because of some mages.

a bunch of mages made the city float with a VOIDAL TEAR
then schizophrenic alchemists and their homonculi suicide bombed into the tear

the city fell and nukes went off
