  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peLEorA41tY [!]An old book lies before you, seemingly ages old with a torn binding.[!] The Fallen Shadows Long ago, two spirits came together, and formed the first Court of immortal beings, bringing those whom that have passed, together. It supplied them with reason, order, and power above all. These two Graven will always be remembered, and their return shall bring a coming of an age unknown to all that are aware. The Court has long been forgotten, for its founders have left and forgotten their needs. This, was soon to change…. For within a dark and mysterious catacomb, lies the laws of the spirits. The very laws that were Engraved upon these halls, and shall be remembered for an eternity... ...To never harm their Unholy Brothers... ...To hold vigilance against the Descendant's promise... ...To fear and shun the hated lights... ...To never succumb into the Mortals’ Ignorance... ...And to protect their brothers and sisters of Dark unholy Fate... These laws were set in stone by the old scribe, whom remained to protect his unholy land. Known only as the Engraved, the scribe took to these laws, and were bound by them. His laws, however, remained barren of his kin, and so was brought upon the new court. The Court of Fallen Shadows. But what is a court without his Kin? And soon the Engraved set out, seeking his fallen brothers and sisters to return. The Scribe removed his former title, and was no longer bound to the Court of Souls. Soon, his very being warped and shifted, soon evolving his very existence not as a simple scribe, but as The Shadow of the Court. The Very Shadow that lurks behind every corner, every alley, and every ruin. But for all who shall heed word, Beware the shadows, for they hide darker things... The Court operates on a Judicial level, supplying positions to those who deem worthy by the Shadow. The Shadow brings order into the chaos of the Court, allowing for all disputes to go about peacefully. This, however, is not guaranteed. The Court of Fallen Shadows operates on a sole ideal - power. Absolute, complete, and total power. And it is this pursuit of power for which the Court exists. As they say, strength in numbers. A thousand ghosts are more powerful than one, and the more spirits which stand or float at one's side, the easier it is to survive, to fight, to escape, and to complete various tasks. Popularity and favour giving is very much a thing in this Court - it is well-known that the more allies one has at it's side, the more powerful it becomes. In short, the Court functionally treats every ghost as though they were equal, and exists for the continued gathering of power and survival of all spectral-kind. It is a dangerous and mysterious force, and it's true inner workings are unknown even to me, however, it undoubtedly exists. Be wary - you may face one ghost now. But in the future, will it call upon it's allies to give it aid? I wish you luck in the hunt, be you man, Mali, Uruk, or dwarf. I am James Lawrence the Second. Beware the shadows, for they hide darker things still. ((OOC Info)) As stated in James Lawrence's so called study on the Court, there is no true ranking system. Officially, the Court holds no prejudice. There is no true imbalance of power. There are positions in which you may be a part of, such as peacekeeper, scribe, etc. But the power does not alter, even with the Shadow himself, for he is there to start, conclude, and keep order to the court. What is respected, however, is age. Age defines a Spectral being, giving it wisdom, power, and Influence. This will undoubtedly result in more respect from your fellow kind as well. This "guild" will essentially be a player-led event team-like construct, mainly OOC with RP elements, that focuses on a very specific roleplay style that is often overlooked but can be very fun should one RP it properly. Created in mind to allow large scale ghost events with multiple ghost RPers taking part, this OOC/RP creation will focus on teamwork, collaboration, and competition. Each event will cater to a different playerbase. Each event will attempt to inspire either dread or awe. Whether it is exploring an ancient sprawling catacomb, attempting to appease the spirits of the dead, or fending off waves of attacking preternatural creatures, or even the good old fashioned witch hunt, the event will be crafted in mind to create a classic spooky (and possibly humorous) atmosphere. While this organization will take longer than the Event Team to pull together and arrange events, will find it more difficult to roleplay effectively without the aid of the mechanics/looseness of the rules available to the Event Team, and will not have such great rewards as the Event Team, it's roleplay will be no less enjoyable, and of no lesser quality. We hope to see you around. Sincerely, The ghosts of LoTC. The Court Positions(To stay organized) The Shadow of the Court: The Shadow starts the meetings, ends them, and keeps the meetings less chaotic and organized.(cman64) The Silencer: keeps the spirits from attacking one another, a guard if you will. The Engraved: Records all that occurs within the court, keeping track of what is said and done.(Akiriza) The Horsemen: Brings new Souls to the Court More positions will be added if needed* The "Ranks" (If meaningless titles make you feel good. ;) ) Use these in RP to signify age and/or refer to another spirit by an honorific. 1000+ yrs = Ghast 800-999 yrs = Fallen 600-799 yrs = Phantom 400-599 yrs = Spectre/Poltergeist (Not just used amongst the two respective kinds of ghosts, Graven have been known to be classified as one or the other as well according to their alignments) 200-399 yrs = Spirit 0-199 yrs = Soul The Rules OOC -Be friendly to other players! Even if they aren't to you, try your best to be polite. -Avoid BRs! Try not to make them over the tiniest little thing. That doesn't mean DON'T do it - just try and avoid it. Try to solve it with them first. And no, trying to solve it does not count as "BR!!!1!!1!" -Take a chill pill and be courteous. Ask the other players for feedback, for permission to continue RPing as though night, etc. As a Graven, if you want PvP, don't force it on people who don't want it. Ask them. If they don't want it, don't call PvP default, unless it is absolutely necessary, like, say, "Oh ****, I gtg for so and so reason." And don't just be a jerk and say that just because you want PvP. -Follow server rules! This should be obvious. -I would say have fun here, but obviously, that's not exactly something you can make a rule about... Albeit if you're not having fun, why are you here, man? :P Go out there and RP as you like! -Follow lore! Follow it, can't stress this enough! Act spooky! Use spectral magic to it's full extent and scare the **** out of someone's character! Do it! It's fun and if you do it properly, it'll be so for other.. The Commandments of the Court -Do not aggress a fellow Soul without reason. Those whom aggress their fellow Souls will be SHUNNED. -There is a fine line between alliance/protection of mortals and friendship! Those whom dally with the living will be SHUNNED and PURGED, lest they bring down upon us the might of the living. -Fear the light, for light weakens and burns. Those who walk the light will be SHUNNED. -Leave the Clerics and Shamans in peace, lest they hunt us down and rend our souls with faithful light! Those who provoke their wrath will be SHUNNED, PURGED, and DELIVERED UNTO THE LIGHT. -Protect and aid your fellow Souls, that we may each attain Godhood in death! Those who refuse will be SHUNNED. ((Further OOC Details)) We'll be RPing the actual group as though it were something akin to a council/moot, with meetings held every other week or whenever any one member calls for such a meeting, either in order to call into question some of the "laws," propose new "legislations," or call for favours (event part of the "guild.") Laws will be very largely subjective, with different interpretations by different ghosts. A ghost, if found to have apparently broken such a law, would be called to task and trial, with each ghost voting on whether to dole out punishments or not. Just the same, a ghost can possibly appeal said verdict after a time IF they were simply shunned. OOC Application Minecraft name: Skype ID (Required): Time zone: Have you been banned sometime in the past 6 months? What are your characters? Is one of them a ghost? If not, would you be willing to make one and possibly PK a character to do it? What sort of allegiances have any of your characters held in the past? What sort of roleplay do you specialize in? (e.g. Peaceful, Conflict, Exploration, Spontaneous, etc.) What do you believe are key factors for a successful spooky event? What strengths could you contribute to the Court OOCly? Are you knowledgeable in lore, great at organizing, good at building, a good writer, what? Don't have to get into detail, and doesn't have to be super amazing stuff, list it off. Why do you want to be part of the Court? Create a distinct event you might do as part of the Court. Doesn't have to be long or detailed now, just decent! Tell us what you expect personally from the Court. This doesn't particularly matter and is optional, however, your saying something will help us develop the group into what it needs to be. Finally... Do you agree to adhere to Supremacy's lore pertaining to the estrangement of mortals, among all other lore pertaining to proper Spectral etiquette? What position do you want to have(If interested in one)? ((RP Application)) [!] The boom and rumble of hooves trampling the ground sound through the night air, seeking spirits of old and new alike. Taking the form of a ghostly rider, burning with fire and smoke, and sitting upon a vile horse, it hurls a dark, old, and crumpled scroll at your ghostly character's feet. Within the scroll is first written the Commandments of the Court and following that, it's purpose as a legislative entity bent on pursuing the survival and empowerment of all spectral-kind. Finally, there comes the actual letter itself. You have been summoned to take up a role at the Spectral Court. Join us now, brother or sister in Death, and we shall attain Godhood together. Write the letter and call for the spirit of the Cavalier, and his protégé will soon ride to take you home. Welcome back, friend of Darkness. Your name and/or title. Your allegiances in life. Do you agree to adhere by the Commandments of the Court, and to actively pursue and follow any future verdicts that the Court as an entity chooses to establish or abolish? Your age. Note: You do not have to PK a character to be in this court. New characters or ones that are already dead can join, they just have to be of the Spectral kind. 3. I support this comment. Now for the idea, it is honestly really good as far as rp will go. The should NOT talk very much-at all, and strictly use body language, writings, or even tatoos to demonstrate names, traits, etc. That should in fact coincide with Egyptian culture to a point where symbols are names and traits to help distinguish and define this new race. Let their be sacrifices and open slavery as well to go along with religion, as well as chants and such. Now if there will be open slavery (The jews and the Egyptians), then there should be a sub-race of much smaller, yet stockier "dogs" that favor prayer and written languages rather than full out body language. They would generally be workers/farmers and have no control (With a few exceptions) of changing their position in their society. The idea of having packs of dogs wont do too well. small communities with different cultures around athera will do better, even one that only consists of the lesser dogs(Slaves) that are harassed/ threatened by the greater dogs. PM me if you want help with this since I have quite a bit of knowledge on this subject (Being Jewish and growing up with the passover stories)
  4. Family tree:http://imgur.com/EeHFIZO The Strabo family The Strabos have lived among the halflings and hobbits for quite a few generations. The Strabos have been known for their vast intelligence in various fields. The original Strabo, Argrin, was best known for his medical creations and skills. He also created, bred, and perfected the medical pipeweed plant that surpasses any other. The current generations have the Strabo gene, which allows for a high IQ in their chosen area. The Mugworts The Mugworts were a family whose main bloodline have died out with Fredegar Mugwort. The first Mugwort, Fredfort, had a knack for coins and minas. He specialized in his accounting skills, and soon became the first family banker. This tradition was brought onto Fred, but sadly has ended in their line. However, the Mugwort gene does carry on in some of the Strabos, allowing them to use their coin wisely. Traits The Strabos have a distinct blond hair, which can vary from dirty blond and brown from the Mugwort genes. They tend to be on the shorter side of halflings, yet are slightly more stocky. Both families can handle drink well, sometimes better than most. It is even said that Argripin can operate drunk AND sober! As of now, the Strabos are looking for more of their relatives in order to reconnect the family and become whole again. ((PM me about joining the family so you can be fitted into the tree))
  5. I am slightly older, so be around 20 years old (I'm 33). I will try to get a main post for the Strabo family soon
  6. ((We are so far a small family, that is mainly known for it's knowledge in many different subjects. We originally came in the Fringe after a close cousin, the Mugworts, died out(My previous halfling). We generally have blondish hair that is closer to the dark side, but this can vary from the Mugwort genes(Brown hair). Here is our family tree: Fredfort Mugwort isabelle Mugwort-Pennyworth Jenetica Mugwort-Flatfoot <Benjamin Mugwort >Fredegar Mugwort < Jenny Mugwort-Strabo Argrin Strabo Collin Strabo > Daniel Strabo Mary Strabo-Seeder Jiri Strabo-Padfoot> Diri Strabo >Arthur Strabo Sarah Strabo-Fourdir > Argripin Strabo -PM me whomever wants to be a part of the Strabo family(More can be added) ))
  7. ((Be a Strabo, I'm trying to grow the name. My character is Dr. Argripin Strabo, the surgeon/ pharmacist.))
  8. I like this idea, and I'd like to see this IG. Honestly, you should direct your focus on not only helping out the RP, but also be a place where you show new players around. Let it be a fun way to draw new members in and help them face the daunting server. With all these new rules, wiki lore, and subjects to get familiar with, new players may feel overwhelmed. All of us who came to the server as a new member must have felt this same feeling, so why not help 'em out? This would be the best way to in my opinion.

  14. The dark catacombs of the court bustled with insects, all attempting to eat the remains of those that have passed. The atmosphere changed as the spirits filed into the meeting room, each with their own intentions. However, this meeting had yet to begin before some guests unexpectedly arrived. The Necromancers, hearing word of our endeavors, came to speak with the matters on hand. The ever so modest Silver Sentinel converged with this Wraith, hoping to forge an alliance and to allow for safer conditions between all parties. “The simplest we ask for is peaceful cohabitation,” chimed the Librarian, hoping to seek out an easier and much more pleasant discussion. “What are your real terms, the ones you find necessary?” repeated the Gravelord, his patience being tested among the spirits. And so came one of the few terms in which the two parties agreed upon, that the spirits shall traverse the Embermoor and occupy it without fear of harm. Further discussion took place between the Wraith and the spirits, as talk soon came upon guarding the very swamp itself, and they agreed to become the Guardians of the swamp, but would not hunt those that leave the land. Finally, did two more terms come into play, as the spirits agreed not to be included within the endeavors of the Coven’s plans against Haelun’or, nor should they prevent the coming conflicts that would come. The agreement to keep the peace between the two parties by not causing any harm on either side concluded the meeting’s main goals within this new alliance. However, that was not the last of the Gravelord, for it required an item of loyalty from the spirits. A wand from the Emerald Wraith. A pocket watch of the Galbenza Gentlemen from the Engraved. A sword from the Silver Sentinel. Finally, a chain from the Captain Condemned. Thus were created the ties in which the allies now hold, and what may come of the near future…
  15. I agree with this. The idea of give and take does interest myself and I'm sure a few others. I am not in any way offended (Being Jewish and having this not in any way offend my religious beliefs), but can see how others are. I would suggest taking a different approach to this "new magic'. Instead of what you had wrote, try a dark arts "buff" magic. If you want more strength, you lose speed. If you want to be smarter, you lose strength, so on and so forth. With that being said, do not make it with blood (then its basically blood magic which we already have). just include either minor extractions from animals such as a rabbit's foot, a bear claw, etc to provide that "buff" power. This change in no way coincides satanic rituals(as far as i know), and goes along with the give/take idea. Now for the arguing, This is just our community and we need to respect everyone. If there's a disagreement then we don't point fingers and shout, we compromise. If you disagree with this idea, look to make it better rather than completely dismiss it into the void.

  19. (Information cannot be used IG) Note from Sancus - Let anyone from within the Court of Souls to use it as RP, but no one else. Within a dark and musty attic, chosen precisely for a single purpose, five immortal entities conversed. One was The Silver Sentinel, a powerful being capable of many feats. His age surpassed any mortal known to have walked on the planet. Next to him sat the Golden Soul, who was in the midst of questioning her very existence as the powers she held could overcome any who crossed her path. She undoubtedly knew of the coming moments that were soon to happen within the court. The Captain Condemned sat with The Silver Sentinel, both Graven, and both very dangerous. Masters of the shadows, they dedicated their thoughts on the most pressing matters within the spirit world. To the Captain’s left sat the Engraved, to whom nothing is set in stone, despite the Golden Soul’s opinions may be. Any documents, vows, and even life can be torn, broken, or destroyed. “Nothing is set in stone”, he would often say. A few hours in, the Court welcomed a new spirit, The Forgotten. He was welcomed as a friend, and gave his word within the court. Being but only a simple spirit, his journey within the court had just begun. Even so, the Engraved demonstrated what this newcomer could do, given power, given time, and nearly leveled the room in which they converged. As the discussion proceeded, talk came upon the new lands within the realm of Athera. Whispers of a swamp holding only the darkest of magic reached the court, and intriguing many. The rumours of its secrets gave hope to these immortals, and drove their determination to claim what was rightfully theirs to own. The land was said to allow the spirits to walk among the mortals in full form, and allow the full use of their powers. Talk soon disbanded into a vote on how these immortals shall acquire this land, and what to make of the mortals that may well already dwell in the region. Hyra voted to claim the land by peace. All others deemed it wise to acquire such lands by any means necessary, even if it meant violence and death - or banishment of their own. The Captain Condemned, in his utter darkness had, as always, been going about his duties. His control was increasing greatly as his duties grew to encompass those of the Cavalier and Horseman. Traveling through the land in the shadows of death, he would bring about the spirits that could soon participate within the court. The meeting soon ended, leaving the godly spirits to wander back to their own doing…for now… Note from Sancus - I believe that covers all of import in the meeting. The rest was mostly explanations about Hyra’s status as Graven.
  20. Many may wonder as to how these spectral beings continue to thrive, despite being conscious energy within another plane of existence. Many do not realize what challenges face these spirits, and what they must do in order to survive. Your average spirit contains enough energy to supply itself with many years of strength and life (or should I say death). However, if this spirit has found its abilities and powers, the energy will be sapped as quickly as it can be regenerated. Yes, a spirit can regenerate itself and use that as its thriving source. The only issue is that it may not regenerate fast enough. What I have noticed is that the older the spirit, the slower the regeneration. This is due merely by the fact that the spirit can wear itself out without the proper “nourishment”. This will result in a lack of power and can limit what the spirit can do. However, my research concludes another source of this energy. These “beings” can suck the energy out of our existing plane. You may see ghosts, poltergeists, or even graven chow down on the life surrounding them. They suck out the remaining energy within the plane, and this reduces the overall temperature within the small surrounding atmosphere. It is the source to the chilled feeling one may get when interacting with the spectral species. I would like to note that this also explains how many supernatural encounters result in these chilled settings, deceased or decayed life, or even an entire area reduced to nothing but a barren waste from spirits consuming their much needed energy. On the account of Graven, their survival and need for energy is not dependant upon the life surrounding them. The Graven do suck out the life as a drug which gives them a quick and volatile boost to energy as suika to elves, rather than as a primary energy source, and can become highly addictive if conducted repeatedly. Furthermore, a new kind which has been fast appearing seems to emit heat rather than cold. The reasons for this are vastly unknown. -Anonymous researcher ((This is to cover up the idea of us ghosts eating the food mortals eat))

  22. I see what you mean as just an attack (And not the main one as you stated). If you need any other help, with this, just send me a PM. I love the idea though and would like to see it IG.
  23. I like it, but it limits what a ghost can do. I play a poltergeist, and we are generally more ruthless than your average spectral being. What you're suggesting does scare the player (or victim), but requires too much energy. This will restrict the ghost player-base into just being the biggest, baddest, and strongest ghosts out there. Instead of just using this large amount of energy, why not limit how much a single being can do. Haunts can barely hold and use that energy. They cant handle the amount of stress that comes with it after recently being deceased. Revenants can use this energy at it's minimal usage. They can Ghost lock for a short period of time, and will just startle the victim. Their ghost touch is mere scratches that go unnoticed, rather than painful bruising. Their feeding is weak, and cannot grasp the full understanding of absorbing that fear. Spectres can wield the Ghost lock not to frighten, but to gain the player's attention. This will still use that chilled feeling, however it can still cause fear. Their Ghost touch can be almost just as they were still in their mortal shell. They can cause damage just as a poltergeist can, but do not enjoy doing so for their peaceful nature. Their feeding is hardly used for they do not look to be feared. Poltergeists can wield the Ghost lock for long periods of time, looking to frighten their victim. They prefer to scare and harm, rather than take the spectre's way of thinking. Their Ghost touch can cause deep scratches and small wounds. The bruising can become painful, often seen as a warning to mortals. Their feeding is no different to that of the Spectre, but rely on it more out of their hatred, or obsession with causing fear in mortals. (The spectre and poltergeist are nearly the same, but they use the abilities differently)
