  15. THE DAWNSTRIDE VOYAGERS "We ain't no damn pirates!" THE CREW: The Dawnstride Voyagers were established in 1539, the Deep Cold, as a means to unite the budding sailors of Vailor under a single banner, and is currently one of the most powerful and influential crews in Vailor. The crew revolves around expeditions, and adventures - it being the heart and soul of the organization. The crew will often partake in said expeditions for rare, and/or magical artifacts and treasures; as well as going on explorations for lands afar -or hunting for dangerous bounties, and great beasts. Loot, and treasure can be easily acquired during these voyages. Crewmates may opt in and out of hunts, and expeditions as they please. As well as hosting voyages, and expeditions, the Dawnstride Voyager aims to provide an escape from the strict, draconian procedures of military guilds: allowing members of the crew to belong to other factions, and guilds; as well as having the freedom to pursue their other careers, and lifestyles. All crewmates are considered equal, though some are more equal than others, of course. It is the currently one of the most influential and powerful crews in all of Vailor, owning three large warships, and having a number of smaller vessels constructed. As well as that, it also owns various port towns, and cities: once having owned the ports of Seahelm itself. HISTORY: The crew of the Dawnstride Voyagers originally started as a naval division for the Courland military, however after numerous disagreements, it was disbanded. However, this spurred on the idea of a crew - and a few years later, the Dawnstride Voyagers was set up in the city of Felsen. It proved to be hugely popular, and soon expanded to other cities. After that, a ship was promptly acquired: "The Tailor". However, this was sunk after a conflict with ghost pirates, and for a while the crew were without a proper ship. Though, another bigger, and better ship was built, thus restoring a proper central headquarters for the crew. The Dawnstride Voyagers have experienced many expeditions that some people cannot imagine. During our time we have fought Captain Skal Limlock and his ghost pirates twice. The Dawnstride Voyagers have also killed a giant spider, Kraken, and a basilisk. The group plans to claim bounties, and deliver cargo throughout Vailor. RULES: ((WIP)) APPLICATION FORM:
  16. I'll be sorry to see you go HB, especially after all the servers we've been through- from Smudgecraft and Daedwin long dead, to LoTC. How long has it been, four years, maybe five? It's unfortunate that I couldn't see you more; but eh, things change. It was nice knowing you in the long run, and I wish you luck with life.
  17. Varin Frostbeard would perch upon a seat, ink and quill beside him. For days, the Duchy of Courland was rocked to it's very foundations by a terrible coordinated swarm of beetles. What the beetles held apart from the common garden pests, was that they themselves were extremely organised, taking orders from a Queen, and coordinating their attacks; so as to cause huge amounts of devastation to the city. The purple Iblees spawn held many similarities with their harmless counterparts, aside from the fact that these beetles possessed huge pincers, capable of tearing through wood; and an overly aggressive attitude. It was so, that the inhabitants of Riga, the capital of Courland, found themselves suddenly besieged by the hordes of beetles. Men at first fought valiantly on the walls and on the gate - but alas! The gate failed to hold eventually against the sheer number of beetles, and their Queen. Made worse the situation was the presence of "Burster" beetles, as they had been nicknamed. They were huge, bloated beetles, which lumbered about the place and when directed to a specific area, were capable of blowing themselves up, creating huge openings for the creatures. The "Bursters" proceeded to blow a large hole in the portcullis, and surrounding walls - allowing the beetles to swarm into the city. It was at this moment, that the greatest loss of life was caused. Men, and women alike panicked as they were struck down by the beetles. Blood, crimson ran through the streets of Vydrik that day. Eventually, however, Duke Percival Staunton managed to regain control of the people. There, he rallied the people to the keep, and it was so. The brave Varin Frostbeard, constructed wooden fortifications within the keep, and had food supplies quickly moved there. So that the people of Riga might easily hold out in the keep, if need be. Hurriedly, a council was set up consisting of some of Courlands officials and soldiers. Together, they concluded where the beetles' nest was located, and the due cause of the beetles' attacks. No doubt, a book will be written on why the beetles attacked, but currently, it is not fully known. Eventually, after much debate and discussion, the council denounced that the nest of the beetles must be located under William Staunton's castle, beside a geyser. However, during the council meeting - the beetles attacked, and, in the ensuing panic that followed, Cassandra was slain by the beetles. Eventually, the rest of the beetles were dispatched. The rest of the council managed to flee safely, and tell Duke Staunton of the news. At hearing word of the news; Duke Staunton gathered a force of men, and rode to the nest. The nest itself was easily located, due to it teeming with hundreds of beetles. Varin led the way, with Conan not far behind, as the group cut through the swarms of beetles. The group battled valiantly, as they descended further and further into the caves - until finally, they found the Queen. The Queen herself, reared tall above all the other beetles, and had pincers able to cut an orc clean in two. Behind her, stood a throbbing rock, which seemed to pulse with light. Lord Staunton (who had taken the liberty of travelling into the depths with his party), divided the force into two. One part was to distract the Queen, whereas the other was to lay waste to the peculiar rock, which provided the Queen with power. Lord Staunton put his plan into action, and the heroes threw themselves into the fray. The heroes, with great effort in their endeavor, distracted the Queen beetle, all the while dodging it's pincers - whilst the two dwarves, and a handful of Staunton's other men, took to bringing their picks down upon the stone. At first, the stone would not give way, but in due time, it cracked, and then shattered. The Queen beetle faltered at this moment, as did the other beetles in the nest. Using this window of opportunity, one of Lord Staunton's men brought their sword down upon the Queen's neck, shattering it - and decapitating her. As the Queen slumped, dead. The remaining live beetles took the opportunity to scurry away. The heroes smashed the Queen's eggs, and returned to Riga triumphant. It was as so, that Courland had been saved.

  22. THE CITY OF TAL'AZWYR About: Tal'Azywr is a beautiful city nestled amongst the mountains, with a view overlooking great valleys and mountains, it is a city to die for. Not only is the surrounding environment awe-inspiring, but the city itself is a work of magnificence. A sheet of pearl white snow coats the streets, and roofs, and you find yourself unwinding as you are engulfed by the warmth of multiple fires. Winding, cobbled streets make up the city and it's many features. The waft of cooking bread and pancakes often drifts throughtout the city, as our many cooks toil away. There is an abundance of food, and drink. The crunch of snow beneath leather boots, the shouts of merchants, and the sharp bark of orders from the Azwyrian officers make up the regular sounds of the city. Tal'Azwyr is a very varied city, with all different types of races inhabiting it, whether they be dwarves, elves or humans. Each day a huge influx of residents surge in, bringing new crafts, and cultures. The city is just big enough so that there will always be someone new to meet, but also just small enough so as to always see a familiar face. Tal'Azwyr, being a relatively young town, and just recently coming out of a civil war means there will always be something new popping up, whether that be new buildings, streets, or shops. This means that a resident can help in shaping, and forming the town. There will always be new opportunities for merchants, and craftsmen trying to make a living. Government: Tal'Azwyr, unlike other cities, and kingdoms - is run differently. The government consists of a council of three men - the Jarl, the Steward, and the Commander. Of course, the Grand King rules over all of these, but has little to do with the actual running of the city itself. Citizens may have the right to suggest new changes, and features. HISTORY: Tal'Azwyr was founded after a cave was purged of spirits, and dwarves began to settle there to respect the memory of the ancient dwed. Verthaik Frostbeard proclaims himself ruler of the small town, and the town becomes known for housing the Frostbeard clan. The Frostbeard clan hall is built. The small town grows into a small city, and other clans settle down in Tal'Azwyr, however, the Frostbeard clan is still the most prominient, and powerful. Verthaik Frostbeard opposes the newly appointed Grand King, Skippy Irongut. A civil war ensues, Tal'Azwyr faces raiding parties. The Watch is established. Verthaik Frostbeard is beaten, and most of the Frostbeards and Azwyrian residents are wiped out. Grand King Skippy is victorious, and his followers plan on burning Tal'Azwyr down. The newly appointed ruler of Tal'Azwyr, Erik Frostbeard makes peace with Skippy, meaning Tal'Azwyr is spared... and because Skippy's followers realised they couldn't burn down a city made of stone. The city remains a ghost town for quite a while, with many of the Azwyrian residents and Frostbeards dead. Varin Frostbeard is appointed Steward of the town, and money, and residents soon start streaming into the town. New homes, and roads are built. It is the start of a new era for Tal'Azwyr. Tal'Azwyr acquires a considerable amount of citizens, and expands slowly. Many new races and clans join. Erik Frostbeard reforms the government, and many of the laws. The city is now ruled by three people, the Jarl (Erik Frostbeard), the Steward (Varin Frostbeard) and the Commander (Dwalin Irongut) . Dwalin Irongut re-establishes the Watch, and adds many new ranks and changes. THE WATCH: The Watch was established during the reign of the Clan father, Verthaik, originally as a force that would fend off raiding parties, and man the gates. It wasn't very popular. It soon fell into disrepair and neglect, and when Verthaik was killed, disbanded completely altoghether. During the New Era of Tal'Azwyr, the Watch was re-established, and placed under the command of Commander Dwalin Irongut. It has since then undergone many changes, including that of new members, uniforms, and more. The Watch now serves as a guard force for Tal'Azwyr, and is by no means to be associated with the old Watch created by Verthaik, or other rebel military orders. It is under the command of the Grand King. The Watch's ranks include: Captain - the highest achievable rank in the Watch, manages everything to do with the Watch. Azwyrian Officer - Second highest in command, they manage anything to do with the troops, such as recruiting, training... etc. Frostguard - the standard rank in the Watch, the backbone of the guard force. Frostguards make up most of the Watch. Watch Guard - The lowest rank, usually new recruits. They have no power, and their only duty is to guard the gates.
