  1. DixieDemolisher/AtlantaAnnihilator/MalchediaeulVult/Kornazkarumm/SimplySeo/Himring is the type of person to genuinely care about justice of a situation, even at the expense of apologizing. Far too many people I've met on this server make a bad call and absolutely refuse to entertain that they might even be wrong.

I've known this guy since 2018, and as far as moderation goes his greatest quality is his humility to accept when he is wrong (despite his theatrics that can appear arrogant to an outsider). He cares, more than most people I've met on this server, and will genuinely seek the right decision with a self-doubt that guides to truth more than most.

    +1.

  2. The Duke of the Adrians sat at his desk waiting, and contemplating the events that had led to the moment. Ever since he had left the central Midlands, the man was haunted by night terrors of fear and wroth for the fate of his folk. They were scattered, so few had come to join him in refuge at Numenost. There, he had drank from the Chalice of Saint Lucien- but still his terrors were not defeated. Would the Adrians ever have a home again? What had happened to their cousins in Veletz- who many he had never seen since the surrender? He heard of the desecration of Winburgh with fire and brimstone wrought by voidal magi- a far cry from the memorial he was promised. Even as the Adrians were granted the slopes beneath Mt. Hugues' Helm and more of his compatriots returned, he feared that the cycle would renew, and the world would know war once more.

At the chance of resolution, the finale of the Dumapalooza was disrupted by the bitter and vengeful. The terrors began to conquer the feeble old man, and he was starting to lose hope despite his outward confidence. Perhaps the petty Mikhail would succeed in his ploy to undermine his siblings' commitment to Markus. Perhaps the overwhelming victory of his former enemies would be enough to validate a final act of pettiness and undermine the legacy of Adria just as it had been before.

In the time leading to the recount, a wise gnome-scryer approached Markus and reminded of the quests of youth, and renewed his youthful promises to Godanistan and His virtues. Accompanied by his oldest living son, Markus spoke with the King of Crows at length, speaking of the Tapestry of Man, the dignity of their shared ancestry. Carrion Black was poured by the cupbearer, both bitter and hopeful words of war and peace shared. Was there not a time, long ago, where Adria's flourishing was cherished by Haense? In the interest of peace, and for the good of our brothers, Ivan had said.  Carry on Carrion, replied Markus. The namesake of his folk and progenitor of his house Saint Adrian Sarkoz of Leuvaarden, patron of Statecraft, must have interceded that day, Markus thought. A courier interrupts this reminiscing with his entrance, and gives Markus a ballot from the Pontifex Maximus. Despite his exile, the Duke of the Adrians knows youthful confidence. He swiftly fills out the ballot. Adria for the Adrians.

    ELECTOR: Markus Marie

ELECTOR HOUSE: House of Sarkoz var Adria

VOTE CAST: Adria for the Adrians; Da!

For what it's worth, I laughed at the April Fool's Joke but this was confirmed to be an actual glitch which due to Coalition vast numbers had a tangible effect at the LEAST.

That's not to mention at worst, intentional logic error but I won't pretend to speak to that with certainty. There was plenty of bias from 60th on other stuff though, so even if it was cleared I could understand why people would doubt that.

    Upon ADRIAN Debts

Neither the Veletzian Treasury not their vaults remain in my possession. The former was drained in the course of war to a measly sum of a single thousand minas, which was turned over to the King of Hanseti-Ruska as well as the vaults of Aldersberg. The Vaults of Burgundy, however, never came under my possession from the Van Aerts, rather in the ensuing Midden Rebellion were taken away I believe to off shore accounts- I cannot attest where that may be.

I shall be frankly honest; I don't know what happened to your two thousand minas. I suspect that they were in fact used for the purposes you paid it, yet the Red Devilry often associated with War stirred confusion upon whether their servants the Blue Devils would allow you to build.

Nonetheless as we are old companions, I would wish to offer charity to your impoverished house. I shall pay you your full sum of two thousand minas which is not owed to you by me, once you have accomplished what is owed to me by you. May Godanistan bless the streltsky of the Rychwald.

    "To Markus Marie "The Adunian"

Spare me the historical lecture regarding how Dumacracy came to be as we now live a few hundred years past that. It would seem that your father has instilled the skill of manipulation and the will to puppeteer an entire election.

The House of Varoche and Montelliano have cherished their Adrian history which includes Duke Paul Varoche, long after your father made the idiotic and barbaric decision for a war of independence and taking the lives of innocent men, women and children in the lands of Aaun.

It is however of poor judgement to say that they do not cherish their heritage because they had contributed in the Adria that your treasonous kind of a father led as they too have played part in the establishment of Adria in its past, and they likely did a better job at leading the Duchy then cooperating with Neo-Renatians who were out for the blood of those around them.

If it was not for the House of Varoche and Montelliano, your father would not have been a Duke, but then the dream of those who opposed him would come true; the title to be put in abeyance. You blame these Houses for not cherishing their Adrian heritage, then what is the TRUE cherishing of Adrian heritage? Spilling blood for your own gain like your father or spitting on the historical signifance by becoming a vassal of Adunians? If you can remember well, it was independence for which your father slaughtered innocents, so let us pray that the Adunians will not go through a similar fate as our martyred brothers and sisters in Canondom.

You say they ignore their ancestry, and Adrian heritage, yet it seems that the Horenic genetics that have come from the circle-succession and plotting Dukes of Adria after Adrian I, Josip II, and the other lot whose blood runs through your veins, have played in a big role within your act as the puppeteer of this election.

The Patricians know the truth. And soon everyone else will.

    Mikhail Sergei Sarkozic"

Markus' hands would be trembling still from the prolific writing, though he chatted to his close advisor Stefan Euler as he read the reply( @Gaja). "Still he yaps!- yet he cannot rebuke the truth of the Tapestry of Man. But why does he kvetch so about my father so- does he know I am not him? Perhaps he thinks me a skinshifter of the Heartlands," he rambled on, lifting the page in shaking grasp to read again. He shook his head. "The Patricians. I wonder who he thinks those would include? I must write to the East and West Turkin immediately!" he decided, sending word to the foreign agents of Sarkoz Spy Incorporated. A variety delegation would be accompanying him to all future DUMAs.

  6. Markus Sarkozic has night terrors in the months preceding the event. Shall his folk's legacy be ripped away from them once more? Or shall the mandate of Heaven shine on the Adrians as it had at the Battle of the Steeples against the odds. He remembered advice he had given to Canonius, and repeated this mantra to himself in comfort; "Align yourself to the designs of GOD, and you shall know no failure. Any obstacle is just another thread of his tapestry..."

    THE WITCH ACT OF 1968
    ORDER OF THE ADRIAN DUMA

TO THE PEOPLE OF CAMP ST EMMA,

The Adrian interests are best served by a habit of proper superstition and opposition to the gifts of other races, be they magik, fairy otherwise unnaturally fantastical. In times of unrestrained magik amongst Adrians, scandal is frequently stirred by its tolerance as it is in many communities of men. The agents of magik often put the interests of their arcane study before the ethics of the Scroll of Virtue and traditions of the True Faith of Man.

Therefore the Adrian DUMA moves to preserve the virtues of its people, and hereby declares that foreign-magik to be forbidden within all lands under its authority. Magik shall only be hereafter permitted by the authority of the DUMA or its relevant agencies on a specific practitioner basis, to be granted only to Adrians or those of close trusted Adrian affiliation who shall be accountable to the ethics of Man.

Any who practices acts of magik within our lands shall find themselves banished from it and fined a sum of 200 minae should they wish to return upon such a banishment.

Upon either repeat or severe offenses they shall be forced to serve 2 years of penance at a parish or monastery of the DUMA’s choice. so that they may be brought to humility before the graces of GODANISTAN

Members of the Adrian guard and the public are allowed to report and in the case of guards, enforce the punishment, should such cases of illegal casting take place. Furthermore, members of the various holy orders of the Church shall be allowed to ensure compliance should coincidence place them to do so.

    THE SETTLEMENT OF ADRIANS

As the sun rises, casting a warm glow over the rugged landscape, activity buzzes near the southern edge of the Midlands. Here, nestled against the mountainous hills that fortify the intersection of Aevos a camp is settled.

The air is alive with purpose as families of Adrian and Middelan descent work tirelessly to erect shelters and create a sense of home. With each stake driven into the ground and every canvas stretched tight against the breeze, they defy the hardships that drove them from their homeland, determined to make a new start. In the heart of the bustling scene, figures of authority and resilience yell out commands; Count Markus, observes with a mix of concern and resolve. At his side is Baron Stefan "The Old Turtle", who soon hurries off to bring the famous Euler Max and other refreshments to the working Adrians, sporting a mirthful smile.

The hard-working yellow berets, Ordermen of St. Daniel and regular guards can be seen cutting down a tree to set up their makeshift guard tower while Brother Ninnias gives a rather unconvincing speech centered around his deep-rooted hatred for yellow flowers.

Camp St. Emma, placed on the steps of Mount Hugues’ Helm. Depicted from the west with the towering Kingswood hiding the horizon.

Amidst the sounds of construction and conversation, a spirit of unity emerges, binding these displaced souls into a community forged by resilience. The Sarkozics and Eulers, with their unwavering resolve, step up as leaders, inspiring their fellow exiles. Ancient names of Adrian Lore return to positions of service, a Vladov commander and Tuvyic wiseman. Aspiring young refugees from the burnt Heartlands enlist in the civil services and restored Greycloak Watch. Burghers, knights and artisans flock to the campsite to partake in the Adrian experiment.

That which was forged in the crucible of Raevir culture and refined through its traditions integrated with the spirit of the Heartlands; the jewel of Humanity, the Adrian DUMA shall be restored in exile, duchy or not.

The greatest quest in Humanity is renewed as the four corners of the DUMA grounds are set, and as the tent town takes shape against the backdrop of the looming slopes, through shared struggles and triumphs the exilic Adrians carve out a new legacy in this untamed land. All the while, a shadow lurks as rumors of Dark Adunaic lepers pour forth from the Kingswood, foreign interests conspire again to conspire their legacy, and strange sounds are heard in the coming dusk. As night falls, the flickering lights of the Adrian settlement are burning bright within the cold darkness…

    LEADERS OF THE CAMPGROUNDS

Markus Sarkozic Exilic Duke of the Adrians

Son of the controversial Duke Heinrik Sarkozic and raised in the cruel crucible of his rebellion, Markus Sarkozic is a chivalrous scholar of Adria who orchestrated the surrender of the Midlands in the Aevos Coalition war to bring peace at great cost. Entrusted with land by the Throne of Numenost afterwards, Markus Sarkozic is lord of the slopes of which Camp St. Emma is settled upon. He is commander of the Adrian Legacy, and protector of its institutions. Reach out to Markus for questions about Adrian Lore or to seek his patronage!

Stefan Euler Producer of the Duma

Nominated by Markus for his prolific service in previously restoring Adria during the reign of Heinrik, Stefan Euler is the second in command of the Exilic Duke and governs the most important Adrian institution; the DUMA. Stefan also manages the tavern and has published philosophical writings for the Turtle Knights. Reach out to Stefan Euler to learn about the Duma or to work at the tavern!

Canonius of Winburgh Maer of Camp St. Emma

Canonius was elected still as a boy to be Maer of Little Belvitz, the Adrian ghetto of Numenost. Now that the Adrians transition to the slopes of Hugues’ Helm, Canonius is in charge of common activity and overseeing the stewards. Reach out to Canonius for any questions about housing and storage!

Rickard Vladov Captain of the Greycloak Watch

House Vladov was one of the two original founding houses of Adria in the Old Realm, and its ancient blood has returned in service to the Adrian people. Rickard Vladov was an orderman of St Daniel’s bridge who migrated to join the Adrian Diaspora upon hearing of their renewed mission despite the loss of the Midlands. Quickly showing a wit for command as expected of his esteemed bloodline, Rickard Vladov was appointed Captain. Reach out to Rickard Vladov to learn about the Greycloak watch or other military training!

Regina Chief Burgher of Aldersberg &

Tobiasz Maxim Sarkozic Burgher of Sarkoz Supply

Regina was originally a guard of an armed force who left the Midlands, and was immediately commended for their loyalty when she stayed. Regina was granted her title after displaying immense aptitude for merchant work. Tobiasz Maxim was the eldest son of Markus, though was disinherited after a troublesome youth and sent to travel with Vasiyeva caravans. There, he was foretold to secure a great wealth like his namesake St Tobias of Aldersberg, so he returned as a merchant to work for his father. The two of them are recognized as quickly rising stars amongst the diaspora, having amassed a great wealth for the resettlement effort. Reach out to Regina or Tobiasz for job opportunities or if you wish to become a wealthy merchant!

    Alexios Bishop of St. Arpad

    Vasyl Sarkozic Acolyte and Steward

Bishop Alexios is entrusted by the Church of the Canon to shepherd over the flock of Adria, and oversees their liturgies and faith life. Serving along side him is the second born of Markus Sarkozic and a young veteran of the Aevos Coalition War, Vasyl Otto Sarkozic. Vasyl’s service to Adria entrusted him to any position of his choosing but the humble Vasyl sought only to entrust his life to the Adrian folk and the One True Faith. Reach out to Vasyl for general help, and to either for guidance on Adrian faith!

    RULES OF ELECTION

Given the multitude of candidates, a system was devised and agreed upon by the High Moot to ensure the dwarven voter maintains their ability to vote freely rather than be coerced into voting against their favored candidate.

    I. Every dwarf present within Urguan shall be allowed to cast a ballot. This shall be determined by the Lord Regent, with counsel from Guild and Clan leaders on questionable ballots and the activity of their elector.

II. Ballots shall be sent through the mail to the Lord Regent. Votes shall not be spoken in person, nor shall they be offered through DISCORDIAN nor GOOGL’FOERM magiks. [Votes may be given via the AVIARY PLUGIN or direct forum message. Must be in a Roleplay format, and would be considered IRPly a letter sent in mail.]

III. Ballots shall consist of a ranking in descending order of least preference. 1st shall be the most favored candidate, 2nd shall be the 2nd most favored, etc. It is up to the elector if they shall rank ALL candidates or only their most favored.

IV. Voting shall commence upon the 8th of Ogradhad’s Study [8 AM EST Monday the 4th] and end upon the 16th of Anbella’s Grace [4 PM EST Friday the 8th] with a feast dedicated to the KING’s of the PAST to be hosted by the Lord Regent where the tally of votes is declared.

    V. The Coronation shall be at the discretion of the newly elected, though advised to be the stone day after the election’s conclusion.

  10. "The skin color of Caves Dwarves is always a darker coloration."

While I would agree this is poorly worded and ignores the chance of variety, saying it has no bearing on skin color is definitely wrong. Cave dwarves have always been either pale, or gray, desaturated. But you never have a bright pink skintoned cave dwarf.

  11. Markus Sarkozic recalls a memory of when he first encountered homosexual behavior, and rambles to a Numenedain knight.

“I can remember exactly when my epiphany was. I hadn’t thought much about it, to tell you the truth. I was a squire in Velec, and my papej was dropping me off. I remember I was about to get out of the cart, and I look to my right, two well-dressed men in wigs kissed each other. They gave each other a kiss. And I’ll never forget it, I looked at my papej, and he said, ‘Mark, it’s simple. They love each other. It’s simple,’ — now I’m not joking … And it’s never been, it’s never been … It’s just that simple. It doesn’t matter whether it’s same-sex or a heterosexual couple. They should be married. What is the problem?”

  12. When Realm Applications make a return, I would advocate that they should require the signatures to be on their most active persona- because communities are composed in their core of players who are invested in them.

More importantly however in my opinion is that Realms need to have progression. I mentioned this in mapdev a while ago, but groups are successful when they go through actual progression. This is a Roleplay Server after all, so narrative of course maintains a high importance. This could be implemented by forcing groups to have actually had time going about different nations or what have you, or maybe allowing them to have a campsite before they can have a nation.

I think as well the concept of Realms should be changed from purely a governing system for tiles to be implemented more substantially across all levels of 'Groups'. I think we are artificially encouraging people to divide up as much as possible because you get more recognition for being a less active but independent state than you do for being an active vassal of another nation. I think it's a warning sign that the system is flawed that RP hubs are discounted as being put on map but far less active 'Realms' are put on there. Maybe the system should instead be designed to be about integrating the different levels of RP groups and their ability to affect world than it is just monitoring tile ownership at the highest organizational level of group.

I may draft up this idea with more detail and make my own forum post, because I don't think I can do it justice with just 300 words. But I really think we should focus on the user-end of how people interact with groups and how it encourages gameplay and roleplay as opposed to closely following the default of what we have done on server for a while, because all the current realms change as opposed to settlement and nations did was make everyone a nation, but nothing actually else.

  13. Markus Sarkozic watches over the events of his former domain with trepidation. His fingers anxiously twitch upon the pommel of his family blade Aventine (something he would never give up, despite his fondness for old books).

"Was it so urgent to rise to rebellion only to Surrender as I had? I recall an agitation against my own maneuvers of surrender for the purpose of reconciliation." He paused to consult the expressions of his own sons, who were unlikely to raise any word of dissent against their father's character either in their familial trust or perhaps acknowledgement of his growing violent paranoia. Markus prattled on, "If the Covenant denies this, I would like to see what reason they have. My greatest complaint against House Van Aert was always that they would brandish their sword before having a chance to wield the pen. But by GOD, this coalition is hardly different! They cannot speak what they want of the Midden, nor communicate regarding their leader's suspected habits. It would be just war, even if not agreeable, should the wargoal be to suppress a previously violent regime- or to enforce terms of Surrender previously agreed by the sovereign of the Midland Realm. But nothing!"

The former duke would continue to kvetch to any who would listen, and would waste his day whining about politics that he could after all instead do something about.

  14. Markus Sarkozic read over the allegations from within Numenost. No other city across Canondom, in his estimation, took so seriously offenses against Church and GOD. This grizzled veteran furthermore maintained a great suspicion of Haense, and suggested to his sons a theory.

"Why does the King nor his court speak to his innocence? A claim so wild is easily disputed- but they make niet effort whatsoever. This is wildly against their own interests- and remember, that always a prince is guided by his own interests. There can only be two reasons; that the accusations though wild are largely true, or that the King of Haense thinks so little of the world that he does not believe they are warranted an explanation; that he is due their total trust without advocacy. This latter attitude is what began to spell the doom of Gaspard- I worry for our Ruskan cousins in House Barbanov. They spur scandal against their storied legacy- and for what reason?"

    The Adrian shook his head as he contemplated such horror. Then he thought of his former kinsmen who had enraged return to Winburgh to fight against Haeseni control of their city. He detested the wars continuation; but could he blame them? He would speak to all Adrian refugees and any he met on the streets of Numenost a similar message;

"Pray for the House of Barbanov, and pray for the Men of Midden! May redemption find both by the graces of GOD!"

  15. An old veteran of Adria's wars vaguely recalls childhood memories. The Duke, the Chancellor, and the Maer; all three laughing as they shared drinks at the Basking Turtle. One night, a drunken Duke spoke that if only more men were like the Maer, there would be less worries in the world. Markus Sarkozic signs the Lorraine and offers a prayer that the wisdom of Stefan might ride across the seas and many may live long mirthful lives.
