Media team needs to learn to take constructive criticism. Not just tell people to back off. The things you make represent this server, quality is important. If you make something and its not great... don't release it. Spend more time on it and refine it. 

 

You want the players support then I suggest you earn it and try to see things from their point of view. 

 

That being said.... Don't be a **** when giving feedback. 

 

We take constructive critiques quite well. We have a doc that was wonderfully filled out with GOOD critiques. It makes me happy to see the community take that so seriously. When we receive cruel feedback, we get a little more defensive. Sorry ^^;;

My question remains unanswered. How is this a new Media Team if all the same people were simply re-added back onto the team? How did this change anything? I'm really curious.

not all of them were readded. It was cleaning out those who did nothing and readding those who did. I didnt think we /had/ to explain every little thing the media team did >.>

Considering a post was made about it, it's not an unreasonable question. I've gone through the accepted applications and it literally appears that 90% of the people who were media team before this post were accepted back in. I'm simply asking how this fixes any of the problems that many people have brought up in dozens of threads about the media team.

Considering you have done nothing but tear us down, we dont need to answer you. If you want an answer, change your "critiques" from constant put downs, to ways of fixing. We do not need to give you reasoning as there were more additions than just our "old ones that bring problems"

The risk of having one's head removed is a great motivator for some effort. Sometimes.

Starting afresh wasn't about removing bad blood but to make sure everyone in the team STILL has a desire to be there. Hence all had to reapply. The moving forward will come down to the functionality of new management styles. This could be the beginning of a much more productive Media Team. We shall have to see.

I dont take critiques personally. I dont care for the rudeness and often cruel "You did shitty work" critiques that pop up. Especially when its coming from the same person on multiple threads.

There is no such thing as bad critique. Seeing as how the team only wishes to keep the "good" critiques saved (as opposed to everything), one can only guess about the credibility of anything they say. In my view, this only shows that the team hasn't changed a tiny bit, and is very likely to end up the same way as the old one.

 

I do wish that the team would prove me wrong and make things that everyone could be happy about. I really do.

Why yes, you do need to answer to us, you are representing the server with trailers and advertisments, after all. You are called Media team for a reason, how are you going to represent the server without even trying to earn it's respect? No sane man will take you seriously with that attitude.

The previous posts prove you wrong. A simple question was asked, yet no respectable response was seen. Especially when you tell them, and at the same time all of us, to just shut up and let you work.

 

You people need to first work on your image here within the community, as right now, with the way you talk, you won't go far at all.

Problem is, El_Hwaldaro,

Time and again we post content, weekly now, for people to see. We take critiques that can /help/ us fix things. There is such thing as a bad critique. When we get posts as "this was cringe worthy" on videos not made by Zilldude (gasp!). We get complaints we dont do anything, that you guys dont SEE us doing anything. We get complaints you want trailers or battle videos, yet when we /do/ post them we get "Cringe Worthy". Comments such as "The area is too dark, cant see anything" is far more helpful than "That was cringe worthy" or "Horrible" or even "that was great".

I honestly dont care if you have something negative to say about the videos or the team itself /IF/ you can provide something in your "critique" that can be used to make things better. So please, before you go on a rant about how we aren't "Credible" look through the comments we get. If they are negative and attack us in some way, we will be defensive. If they are negative and /HELP/ us, we take it in.

Here is an example of some GOOD feedback we got that we wish the community could continue to do.

Dear lord god, stop with the silly things. I know it's fun for the community, but we will get more players with more of an idea of what this server stands for if our media is demonstrative of the server, the goings on in the server's timeline, and our Role-Play.

Right now, the media team is a somewhat crass band of entertainers and photographers that create newsletters and what have you for the sake of these community, when it's purpose in my and a few people I know's humble opinion is that it should be the curators of a library of our server's events that potential new players can look into to get a greater knowledge of what our server is.

Call me harsh, but I actually found out about this server by a video on YouTube called "A Wedding in Ildon". Right off the bat, I learned that it was a role-play server with some fine players with developed characters, and that I wished to join.

This stuff is not created anymore, and the MT produces odd material, overly humorous and somewhat opinionated skits, and OOC news for no seeming purpose and that really rubs me the wrong way.

Yes this is a harsh critique, but they are helpful. These kinds of critiques are desired. You can be harsh, you can be nice. So long as you critique, in some way, helps us get better.

I am not trying to be defensive or cruel to anyone, I just want people to understand. A critique is something that has your opinion in it, but we want Constructive Criticism that is meant to help us get better.
