Definitions

 

These terms are a major part of the server and in a few of our rules. Please define them so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers or check on our wiki, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person!

 

What is roleplaying?: Playing out the role of a character in a fictional setting through a wide range of mediums. I prefer writing for my medium, LARPing is too hardcore.

 

What’s metagaming?: Utilizing out-of-character information to influence the actions of your character in-game. It's bad. Like, you can't just got waltzing into the enemy base in-character just cuz a bro in Skype gave you the cords.

 

What’s powergaming?: Being a general *******. Nah, joking, it's when you roleplay a scenario where another person has their character controlled without their permission/having your character behave in a manner that the other person hasn't been given the chance to respond to. Can't run up and shank/kill a person automatically, it's wack.

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that you follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Give us a highlight of their past, What life events make your character the person they are today? This is your character's biography. It is also required to include server lore when writing. (Names of towns, major server events, ect. Most lore can be found on our wiki.): The dramas of recent times have been left unknown to Aeryn. Having been raised in typical Highlander fashion, the girl has been left oblivious to the political affairs of the world around her. For the majority of her life, she has traveled with her father. She was unaware of a mother, having lost her at a young age when the woman came sick and passed from a fever. Her father, on the other hand, was a grumpy old codger that rarely settled. From time to time they would stop in nearby settlements at the outskirts of Oren. Very rarely did they stick around, but there were a few months out of the year that the two made a living through spare work offered to them. Her father, known as Rorack, was surprisingly supportive to his daughter despite his bristled attitude. The two lived respectably, and by the time Aeryn reached her teen years, found herself out in the wilds. Her father made an attempt to establish a homestead for himself, eventually succeeding. He claimed that he had grown too old to keep traveling, wanting to have a place of his own to stay safe in his older years.

 

Seeing the success of her father, she too drifted away from home. Still young and full of energy, she had no intention of lingering around the nest. Since then, Aeryn has maintained the traveler lifestyle. Being on her own has been a jarring experience, but hitting the road is a common scene for the traveler. Over the years she has grown more adaptive and wise, still traveling around Oren while growing more and more familiar with the land. When the Chivays of Kaedrin seized control of the land again, the girl was mostly oblivious to the change...and she has continually tried to avoid the raging political matters that surround Oren. To her, there is no need. So long as she can find work and support herself, then there is no need to bother with such matters.

 

What are they like? (personality): Strictly simplistic, Aeryn doesn't display much interest in the complexities the world has to offer. She is firmly grounded into a sense of reality, where she happily works and labors to maintain a living. The woman is stubborn in her ways, often doing tasks the hard way when a simpler alternative is available. Taking the path less traveled is apart of her lifestyle, and believes that doing things the old-fashioned way is the most rewarding. She's a tough thing, but her hard living has granted her a strong sense of patience. Mostly mellow, she's rather easy going, so long as people refrain from agitating her.

 

What are their ambitions?: Aeryn wishes to continue her travels, see the world, and live off the land. She's pretty boring in those ambitions, but they are easily attainable and keep her appeased.

 

Do they have any special skills? What are their weaknesses? (Try to list a few of both): Aeryn, during the course of her life, has become comfortable with survival in the wilds. While she may not be as agile or composed as wood elves, she has a means of carving into the land to make her own home. The work does not come easy to her, but she never shys away. During her younger years, she became competent with steel work, though her craftsmanship is average. The knowledge of magic is completely lost upon her, nor does she have any talent with any advance arts. Horrible cook, simply dreadful.

 

Give us a description of how they look?: Aeryn is short in stature, standing at approximately 5'3, and holds a wild appearance. Tanned skin, dark askew hair, and hard glaring eyes that make her appear unapproachable. Her hands are roughly calloused from labor, nails bit short for convenience, and her knuckles bruised. There's nothing soft about her, though her features could be considered appealing (pardoning the smudges of dirt). She's built short and stalk, holding more muscle in her frame than what could naturally be assumed. Not very refined, she has a slouch in her posture and sometimes fumbles during tasks. Overall, the woman is rough around the edges.
