501warhead 1796 Share Posted August 29, 2014 This little post is about the scale of events the event team does. It's a bit of a proposal at this stage and I hope it turns out well as I'm heading down this tunnel blind with a rough idea of where I want to go (what I want to say) The lacking issue I felt was predominant in the Event Team of The Fringe and Thales was the lack of larger events. Once we began the transition events it bumped up but before then we had no plan, no direction in doing anything but small events... so. Events are classified into 'Significance' ranges. What does this mean? It means that we can get a better feel for how each event is played out, what can be done, and the length they should have. Not only this but we can plan a 'Massive' significance event monthly to satisfy the player's taste for adventure and danger. So without further ado let me introduce the ranges. 'Massive' Minimum Event Team Members: 6 Actors Maximum Event Team Members: N/a Minimum length: 3 Days Maximum Length: 1 Week Maximum amount p/ Month: 2 Maximum amount of Players: N/a UNLIMITED BROADCASTS AUTHORIZED. These events are the showcase of the Event Team as well as the 'main attraction' for the month. They should be planned out in advance and have a clear step by step floorplan. Rewards should be determined before hand and characters as well. These are intended to be server-wide and accompanying 30-50 players. Do not plan much roleplay, it should be PRIMARILY mechanics. Rewards for these events must be discussed with the staff team before hand but could range from Unique items, Rare spells, or even Skill tomes. MUST be approved however. 'Large' Minimum Event Team Members: 2 Actors Maximum Event Team Members: 6 Actors Minimum length: 1 Day(s) Maximum Length: 3 Day(s) Maximum amount p/ Month: 8 Maximum amount of players: 16 TWO BROADCASTS PER 'LARGE' EVENT AUTHORIZED. These events are ones planned for specific groups by actors most affiliated with said groups. E.g - Two druids make an event where the druids calm a raging Ent to discover how he got there and what has infuriated it! Rewards can be RP items of a 'Rare' quality or any equivalent 'Medium' Minimum Event Team Members: 1 Actors Maximum Event Team Members: 3 Actors Minimum length: 3 Hour(s) Maximum Length: 1 Day(s) Maximum amount p/ Month: N/a Maximum amount of players: 8 BROADCASTS NOT AUTHORIZED These events are ones planned to get smaller groups into things. They are usually designed around the concept of giving smaller groups something to do. Rewards: WIP 'Small' WIP Will add more later.
Wolf Druid Ouity 1461 Share Posted August 30, 2014 Of course we didn't do any largescale events lmao. Nobody knew when the map was ending so nobody invested any effort into permanent structures. I made a dungeon that went totally unused in the Fringe. I like the idea of having one largescale a month, but the logistics of creating a new sequence, environment, plot, everything would be extremely difficult. Setting minimum and maximum time limits for any event is nonsensical, in my opinion. I like the first bit, but there's no need to over organize the rest, it just creates more work with very little payoff at the end of the day.
