Definitions

 

What is roleplaying?: Acting out the role of a character, usually with other people.

 

Example of Roleplaying: You made a character for a Minecraft Server, you act as that character would act, and you do what that character would do. While using the knowledge of your character rather than yourself.

 

What is metagaming?: Acting out of character when you should be in character. Also using Out of Character information while you are In Character.

 

Example of Metagaming: Your character has no idea where a certain town is, and you go out of character and look it up. You find where the town is then go back into character with the knowledge you had out of character and use that said knowledge.

 

What is Powergaming?: Always assuming for everything you do in the game you won, you never say you lost.

 

Example of Powergaming: You have the desire for all the money you can get, you break your character and do stuff he would not do or couldn't do in order to achieve this goal in the shortest time possible. Such as dodging an arrow you did not see coming or stabbing someone with a knife, from 10 feet away.

Biography:  Araton a Highlander, was the son of minor nobility in a small fief towards the borders of  the Kingdom of Renatus . He had a rather pleasant life and was taught to string and use a bow, until at age 11 when their manor was attacked by bandits and Araton  was whisked away. The Bandits offered a ransom, a kings one at that. Which Araton's family could not afford. The bandits, tired of waiting for a payment that never came, sent an assassin to the manor of Araton's family killing everyone and taking all the valuables he could find. They then threw Araton out into the forest to be eventually killed by wolves.  Though unbeknownst to the Bandits, Araton shaprness allowed him to survive. For years he was lost out in the wilderness and managed to survive from foraging and hunting, he fashioned a bow out of a yew branch and tree sinews. He also learned how to fletch his own arrows from makeshift materials.

 

He eventually found his way back to civilization and people realized that he had forgotten the life style of more civilized people. Slowly integrating back into normal life. He was housed by a small family on a farm near Nerezza. Until one day a rogue band of orcs came and ransacked their farm killing them all. Araton now fights greed and corruption whenever he can. He enlisted in the town watch of the area and set off to end any banditry for taking so much from him. Though knowing this task is impossible he still tries his best in order to protect those who can't protect themselves and hires himself out to protect traders from harm for little to no payment. As he got into his mid 20's the lord of the region in gratitude of his assistance, gifted Araton a bit of armaments to assist him in his fight against banditry. He was given a bow from one of the best fletchers in Laureh'lin, a set of the greatest chainmail in all of Athera , and a sword forged from the finest smiths in Kal'Arkon.  He then promptly sold them, bought more simple weapons, and gave the rest of the money back to the people he strived to protect. Eventually he made it to Vanderfell to seek new opportunities of fighting evil of any kind.

 

He now presently continues to fight the principle that took him away from any family he has ever had,  and will stop at nothing to finish it off forever. Though a greater threat looms, and he may have to stand against an enemy far more dangerous than banditry.

- Chooses not to use advanced armor and weaponry.

- Relies on the element of surprise and will not last as long in fair combat.
