oblivionsbane 714 Share Posted June 11, 2015 Mark’s eyes snapped open before lying motionless in thought over what he had just heard in his dream. Sitting up, he glanced around the wooden walls that comprised the hull of his now worn schooner. He turned in his bed, setting his feet onto the cold, wooden planks of the floor. His eyes narrowed and began to glow a dull blue-green. A moment after starting, they ceased and Mark began hurrying to put his clothes on. Climbing up the stairs to the galley, he looked behind him out the window to see the light of the sun stretching over the waters and horizon. “Day it seems.” He said to himself before going to step out onto the deck and over to the railing. Grasping it, he surveyed the total area around him while eyeing the skies inquisitively. For a brief moment, his eyes flashed with color once again. “I see.” He said with a level and understanding tone. “So the work must begin immediately then, and here I had been hoping for more rest.” Sighing, he moves over to the galley once again and back down into the bowels of the boat to reach his quarters. He glances to the corner and surveys a desk covered in many rolled up writings. Stepping over, he unfurled one of the many. “All those years making these charts while out at sea may yet serve a greater purpose.” Indeed, the chart that lay scrawled out by his hands was a finely detailed sea chart, showing several diagrams of where the wind blew, where the currents flowed, many known landmasses, and all their correlations to the stars. He nodded to himself, rolling the single piece of work up and setting it aside. He picks up another and unravels it. This one was a detailed sky chart marked for a certain month. He nodded again to it and set it aside. Finally, he reaches to the center of the desk and with both hands he unfurls a large schematic. The schematic revealed a large ship. He scanned over it several times before allowing it to roll back up. “The stage must be set before the ending of the calm. I will make sure this is done.” He says slowly to himself while moving to pack what he may and set off to begin making preparations. OOC: For 20 years my character has been at sea on a journey from Athera to Thales and back. Having nothing else to do and being armed with intellect and Cognitism, he spent much of this time perfecting his ship design and making very high quality sea and star charts. I did not have a way to fit this into the story, so I figured it would be best to explain why exactly he has so many star charts and whatnot.
