Grief and pain are deadly arrows to your heart. As the arrows of grief hits, you do not know what to do or how to feel. You begin bleeding and become numb, and you think the world as you know it is coming to an end. You sit on the ground unable to move, and the arrow continues penetrating into your heart. Some pass by and pray for you, voices filled with pity.

Suddenly there it is.

Thoughts of despair.

A mother’s wail, a father’s sob–

Could our dear son be gone?

This precious boy, this vibrant man–

His heart, somehow undone.

“No… Not for this Qali.”

The sun rises and sets alone

The cycle that doesn’t end

But, the moon has eight of its own

And the crescent and star has yet to ascend.

“This was the switch-up, the plot-twist my father always knew,

but the world did not prepare for.

Now be new.

Be the man my father meant,

And created me to be.

Oh, and don’t forget,

Do it passionately.”

But was he ready?

What kept him at bay from proposing already?

A delusion of a crown made made to offer him some hope,

but how could he even fantasize when he had to cross that blood-filled moat?

Life can be fearsome,

Its decisions, challenging.

Do not let years of  grief cause you to run and be shunned.

Embrace your choices with open arms, not isolation.

For although it may mean life or death,

We’re Qali and will always be ready.

Past my bedtime. Have a nice cringe.
