Arteh 1837 Share Posted August 30, 2015 House d’Amaury A house born of victory. “Gold in Peace, Steel in War.” History The story of House d’Amaury starts in 1521 after Augustus, formerly of de Sola, found himself emerging victorious against the Adrian dissenters opposing the crown rule during the late 1510’s and early 1520’s. Despite a lack of prior military experience, the youthful Lord Marshal proved to be a brilliant strategist and skilled tactician, rallying the forces of the Loyalists against the internal threat alongside Guy de Bar, a capable Savoyard nobleman. Over the concurrent course of the bloody war, all thoughts of a swift Vladovic conquest were soon extinguished under the force of Augustus’ shrewd and tactful military acumen. Following the stratagems of his predecessors that favored bold, open-field engagements over sieges, the cunning young soldier was able to rapidly turn the tide in favour of his liege. Time and time again, the well-drilled shock infantry units under the commander repelled the opposing cavalrymen characteristic of their Raev foes. Those who thought it a hasty and impudent decision to promote Augustus to Lord Marshal were soon overturned as tales of the man’s daring victories reached their ears. Between his valiant triumphs over the rebels, and despite his devotion to claiming a hard-won victory, the young d’Amaury frequented through a maze of courtiers Annabelle de Bar, daughter of the Lord Chancellor. Soon after the war Guy, his dear friend, organised a marriage between the two, and in a ceremony devoid of fanfare the pair were wed. Better still, the fledgling nobleman was granted extensive lands in the former Vladovic territory, guaranteeing his newfound house into the annuls of history as wealthy landowners of verdant and lush plains. Together, Augustus and Annabelle made the decision to begin their own house. Neither of them were to inherit the prosperous legacies their families had left behind - and so Augustus made a name for himself in his own right. With the renowned prestige, extensive equity, and vast wealth required to do so, they christened the House of Amaury, effectively gaining lands and subjects with naught but their own labor. Summerhall is a complete renovation of the former Vladovic holdfast, Barrowyk. Ruined by war, the old keep was completely demolished, with a new one hastily constructed in it’s stead. A grandiose and esteemed fortress, Summerhall boasts a tepid, favorable climate, and is complemented by green and luscious fields. Settled around a quaint swath of farmland, the seat of House d’Amaury is home to a modest handful of levymen, farmers and other people who wish to live under the watchful eye of Lord Augustus. Situated on a formidable hilltop and flanked by a river, the daunting castle was designed to be impregnable, much unlike the Vladovic stronghold that once stood in it’s place. The keep is located in the County of Amaury, a fiefdom sired by the honorable lord Augustus. Family The house is headed by Lord Marshal Augustus d’Amaury. Augustus d’Amaury is the youngest son of Titus de Sola, lord of Dour Watch. A strong willed and intelligent man, skilled in strategy and war tactics, the youthful combatant boasts the honor of being a veteran of the Duke’s War, and is widely regarded as an honorable and steadfast figure of stalwart militarism besides. Annabelle d’Amaury, the third born child and sole legitimate daughter to Lord Chancellor Guy de Bar and the late Lady Jenette Stafyr, stands dutifully at her husband’s side in times of strife. Born with a characteristic kind nature, the youthful noblewoman is well-educated in many regards, due in large part to her upbringing as a courtier.
