A shaky sleep

The great white winged beast seemed to writhe with an almost silent crying out at something unseen, as the pair of blinking and disoriented eyes met its brilliant form. As if it was cruelly imprisoned and chained to the floor, it struggled heartbreakingly; its ashen wings swayed erratically and beat against the cold, hard ground with a sickening crack. A sense of apparent worrying sickness seemed to echo in the observer's stomach, breathing hastened somewhat and his facial expression saddening as he clenched his helpless fist. He scowled and reached out testingly in the direction of the afflicted creature. As he did, a feeling of acute burning seemed to sear his hand, which drew back ineptly as he took a quicker breath and looked at his own digits which now clenched once again into a fuming fist. 

It almost seemed to let out a pitiable scream as he looked on with a sense of helpless horror in his chest, which he numbly placed his shuddering hand on. A set of teeth silently gritted together and a shocked head twisted away at the sudden, piercing noise, his eyes shutting in a seeming pain on his own. No closed eyes or hands over the ears could mask the screaming that he heard constantly in his tormented ears. He looked once again as his hand shook in fear and latent anxiety, the beautiful animal's thrashes and lashes of pain dampened down into but whimpers and squirms slowly along the ground. It crawled weakly towards the outstretched hand for a brief moment, verdant looking viridescent eyes curiously meeting his own sunless grey gaze before they shut abruptly. Its head falling limp as it made contact with the ground.

At this, a pair of intent eyes sharply snapped open as raspy, rushed breaths escaped a breathing mouth, breathing slowed and calmed as he looked expectantly to his side.
