In Luciensport, within a secret chamber unknown to all outside; the Pentarchs of the faith gather, the room alight with much frankincense. Mighty men of the Lotharingian band, guard the only entrance to the holy sanctum. None whom aren’t of the prime regency are allowed passage.

 

 

“Our faithful Pontiff has left us for the seven skies to join our lord behind his pearly gates. One among us must be named in his place, according to a majority vote, whoever gains the three votes needed shall ascend to claim the golden laurel of Horen; write down vote and let the creator’s hand guide our actions this day.”
 

 

The council convenes, they discuss in whispers whom will rise above the other.

Edmond rises from his seat. Looking to his fellows draped in red and black he scans all corners of the room.  Letting air fill his haggard body he speaks unhindered, his tone echoing across the council chambers.

 

"Our flocks have been through hard times, quite collectively have they not?  Despite our efforts to bring dignified rule to the clergy in Daniel’s absence we’ve seen constant hardship. Brother Leann, may the lord bless him, has passed along with Daniel, as well as a knight of our own holy sepulchre. Our man, faithful Baldwin, crippled by woodby edgy ******* assassins."

 

"Our faithful have been in turmoil for too long." He states, his eyes drifting to each of his colleagues.

 

"Having said that I wish make myself clear; I wish to succeed our comrade and ascend to the pontifical throne. Under both my mentor Sixtus III, and our Daniel II I’ve seen in a relatively short span of years what can bring our establishment to its knees. Murder; deception; and bribery have all played intricate parts in the reigns preceding our ecclesiastical synod.  Civil war ravaged our fatherlands and wrothful heretics put the torch to my own damn church. he says,a brief flash of pain emanating from his features  If GOD wills it I would strive to see dignity and order returned to our clutches, I would see Luciensport built, and I would see to the fair trial of Daniel’s pontifical gestapo."

 

"If elected I would for a start, see constantly to the care of the church; Daniel II was a kind man, and of many feats, but he was as I’ve mentioned, often absent. This would end under my GOD given reign. Luciensport would become a shining city in the south, built on the commerce that the location allows."

 

"The Curia will be worked, A codex of Canonist laws and procedures made clear and formed under the careful guidance of myself and the Pentarchy. It is my hope to prevent the heresy and decadence that reared its head; If elected I’ll do my best to further prevent the heresies of the past and serve GOD’s justice to those in the future."

 

"With faith in our LORD, I wish you all well. Let this be a new chapter for all of us."

 

Edmond once again looks carefully at each of his fellows, wondering on their intentions on the vote to come, before humbly softening his presence and seating himself back at the table.
