The Plague of 1526

With the fire which burnt away the Ash which plagued the land, so came another blight upon the world. A blight which far outstripped the relief felt when the ash did burn away in what seemed to be a Holy Blaze— another trick upon mortality to send them spiralling down into despair and agony.

 

The Watcher's Creation had been set upon the world, and with it would come the agony of decay and torment of mortal kind— helpless in its path. The Wheel shall Turn and Turn again, so he did say. And so it would. But what was to come to pass? And what would be?

 

Those who did dare enter the presence of the infected and record the symptoms of those suffering would so notice a pattern;

• These individuals were barely capable of magic of any kind, within 3 elven hours of infection rendering them inept at their crafts.
• The individuals would, on occasion, experience a variety of symptoms such as blindness.
• They would scream of scrolling text which whirls through their mind without sense or reason.
• Some would report hearing voices.
• Exhaustion would be a common symptom, the individuals seemingly sapped of all energy— in some this would be permanent, in others it would come and go.

But what was this strange affliction? And what did it mean of what is to come?
