Jadles 85 Share Posted September 4, 2011 (( I just thought i'd write a little note to potential guard recruits. (and anyone else in the guards who may benefit from this)... they are just the things i have observed from my experience in the guards... So you want to be an Oren Guard, eh? As i see it, the job of the Oren Guard is to protect the city and the innocent people within it. To that affect Gate duty is an important job, as it not only stops undead and criminals getting in, but it also adds immersion to the world. Having guards on duty creates an ambiance in the city, and you will get involved in roleplay just by being on duty, stopping crimes and arresting people or being asked information by travelers etc. The more we see you on duty, the quicker you'll get recognition and the sooner you start getting paid. The Guards is also a hierarchy, so if a sergeant or captain (or Lady High Constable) address you, respond with sir or ma'am - not yeah mate, or likewise. Again this is to keep up the immersion, these people are your commanding officers and should be addressed as such. Get to know the country - or at least where the roads go to and what is in the city. Read the lore on the forums, keep up to date with what's going on, and get your sword skills to 30, (as an unskilled recruit won't be promoted) be polite and you'll do well. So if you don't want to spend a portion of your online time guarding the gates and walls, or helping citizens, and generally being around in-case something happens then the Guards is not really for you. So there you go, hopefully this helps somebody. Have fun out there!))
