Introduction and Question(s)

Hello everyone, nice place you've got here.  I go by Num, mostly posting here because I have a few questions that I was having trouble extracting answers to through the wiki.  As far as biographical stuff, I've got a long history of being on the edge of RP, mostly leaning towards world-building and running stuff rather than as a player.  I was a founding member of the campaign builder's guild back in the day.  I'm more of a builder than a gamer, and I'm really excited to get to doing that on your server.  Actually, I applied mainly due to the delightful builds covering the Athera map.  Anyway, onto the questions.

I'm looking for Dour Watch starting out, if anyone could give me some directions, that'd be swell.  If there's a reason I shouldn't be starting there, or there is a hub that's more approachable for someone starting out, please advise.

On the wiki there are mentions of Northerners or Highlanders, and as a trope that's more my jam but it appears they're not included on the newest map?  If I'm wrong, I'd love to know

I am interested in professions, checked out alchemy.  I was curious what the best way to get started in that vein is?

Last of all, I'd be interested in speaking to a mentor at some point to sort out sundry basics and whatnot if possible, not sure who to contact on that point.  I haven't logged in yet as I understand y'all have some moderately severe rules about not responding to RP and I would not want to offend.  Cheers.

To answer you question Highlanders, Heartlanders and Farfolk are all in the map. Highlanders and Heartlanders (and to a lesser extent the farfolk though most live in the Caliphate) are all part of a nation, the Holy Orenian Empire. Although major cities/rp hubs dedicated to highlander (Raevir, Waldenian/Northerner and Adunian) rp are mostly gone, so now the highlander cultures are spread out.

Mentors were removed a while ago, anyhow, from my own experience the only way to get better at role-play is actually starting to role-play yourself, learning as you go along and also by observing others. Joining a player base with a reasonably steady flow of role-play really helps as well, they'll help you get caught up to basics and so forth.

Personally, if you're looking for human role-play then Felsen (the Human Capital) is the best place to start, get role-playing with others and eventually join a player base within them, be that the Duchy of Istria (aka Dour Watch) if you wish but there is a fair bit of activity to the East of human lands in Riga or Saltstone.

While most highlandic/northern cultures fell into a stagnation a few months ago, a group of players including myself are working to revive and revitalize the subrace and it's lore. Feel free to PM me if you want more information.

As Bird said the highlander (raevir, northman, etc.) cultures are being rebuilt!
