Warclaim Announcement: Part 2

Good evening LotC,

Today was quite the eventful day full of a plethora of issues revolving around the warclaim that took place. To understand the technical aspects of what took place you can jump on over to Telanir’s post here-

For awhile now we’ve been operating the server on 1.9 and for warclaims it has held up pleasantly, more or less. For the conflict in the north this past month we’ve had pretty decent numbers ranging around an average of 120 players per fight. You had your typical drops, but overall it would run quite smoothly. Today was a different story. We had nearly 200 players involved in this warclaim which is a very large and amazing number! The sheer amount of player involvement in the event and what was on the line made it a very exciting morning.

Issues arose, one thing led to another, again read Telanir’s post for more details, and we came to a point where the server could not operate and house the warclaim we had set out for. This is not anyone one person’s fault and our Development Department is looking into a means to make warclaims function. Definitely with that stated we will be looking into the possibility of changing our current system to make it less server heavy, yet still fun for the regular player.

As you can see this post has not yet been posted on and as many more of you know there was a broadcast and announcement made by the Game Moderators overseeing the warclaim as to the outcome. It was in discussion then and it has been in discussion for a good chunk of the late evening as to why that call was made. By no means was it a bad call, but it was definitely a call that should have incorporated more people. As very few of you know I was unable to oversee the warclaim due to my outing in the mountains this weekend to officiate a tournament as a referee. Thusly, I was not able to be there when this call was made and provide further insight.

Looking through the conversations that took place and the lack of communication amongst party leaders I have decided to lift that verdict and void the battle altogether. Meaning, there will be no decided victor and the battle will have to take place again.

I’m well aware that some of you might be screaming for joy and even more of you might be discontent with this decision. However, as it has been outlined, warclaims altogether are being halted until we can come up with a more solid solution to this lag we’ve been dealing with. Until that issue has been resolved the conflict itself will freeze and no further warclaims will take place. I will be contacting party leaders to further discuss plans for the future as this is their conflict.

Anyways, have a good night and enjoy this picture I took on the drive up this weekend :D

Thanks Fireheart, to summarize for those of you curious, there was not enough evidence for us to declare a victor of the battle. In fact, there could be no victor for a war that never took place, the warclaim was canceled and remains voided. Thank you for your understanding, we are working hard to resolve the lag issues.
