THE DUCAL COUNCIL

 

 

Let it be known that through the graces of God, Lothaire d’Amaury enriches his respectable reign with the formation of his own Archducal government in accordance to the Lotharingian proclamation of 1564. As the Human Realm faces its own era of adversity, confronted with the threat of Barbary at its gates, the reign of Lorraine transcends the Archduchy of petty politics and intrigue. Entrusted upon this government to carry the righteous torch of the Lorraine is something far more elemental, the very survival of our Human Dominion. As God wills it,

 

Ministers of the Archduke and his Court, the Ducal Council sits abreast of the Archduke and aids in the governance of the Archduchy and all of its holdings.

 

Duke-in-Council: His Exalted Grace, Lothaire d’Amaury

The Duke-in-Council refers to the Archduke when he sits with the Privy Council and acts with them - serving as the greatest voice and person of utmost import. Although not always present, the Archduke determines the final result of the decisions made.

 

Lord Marshal: His Excellency, Aldast Marchand

Enfeoffed with primacy in the matters of military, above all other counselors, the Marshal acts as the highest general within battles and commander of all bannermen within the Archduchy. Oft expected to order censuses, he is also entrusted with the vigilant maintenance of these armed forces. Due to the rich militaristic culture of the Archduchy, the Lord Marshal is also acting as the chief and foremost representative of the Archduke and the Lorraine, holding the rarely granted authority to hold court should His Exalted Grace be absent or incapacitated. Empowered with the ability to form a Chancery, he is charged with the insurance of stability in the Archduchy.

 

Steward of the Heartland: His Excellency, Jacques d’Amaury

The overseer of all works within the Heartland, the Lord Steward is charged to uphold its defense and continued safety. Managing the administration of various holdings and overseeing them, he alone is able to approve charters for newly formed settlements beneath the Archduke.

 

Magistrate of the Court: His Excellency, Marcus Marchand

The Magistrate is entrusted with command of the law and judicial happenings within the Archduchies borders. He is the only figure, other than the Archduke or Lord Chancellor, who is able to grant Pardon to criminals, it falls within his duties to act as judge over the Archduchy’s courts and see justice delivered.

 

Viceroy of the Archduchy: His Excellency, Lord Mehmed Sungur

The administrator and diplomat to vassals and foreign territories, the Viceroy is tasked with the details of foreign and internal administration and ensuring that vassals are both happy and lacking in any dissent - all governors are subservient to him.

 

Master of Coin: His Excellency, Lord Altaron Stafyr

The master of coin, responsible for taxation and financial affairs within the Archduchy. In times of warfare or economic dispute he is granted the power to introduce emergency stops or additional taxes for the security of the Archduchy’s coffers.
