Gladuos 869 Share Posted August 22, 2016 ~= The Bimbleweed Family =~ The Bimbleweed family first appeared somewhere during the earlier years of Athera with a halfling named Jimmy Bimbleweed. It is not known, but it is believed that he first diverged from some other dwindling halfling family of the time, deciding instead to build his own legacy upon laughter, free spirit, and hats. The family values commitment of a well-knit community and being especially kind to halflings as if they were their very own familly. This kindness tends to pervade towards bigguns to a lesser extent with many of the family's members, referring to halflings as family while bigguns as friends. Although many will still practice caution and suspicion under appropriate circumstance as necessary. These are the only rules the family abides by besides the normal rules of properness, knowing that kindness is what keeps the pillars of community strong. Culture and Tradition In the early years of the Bimbleweed family, some were known to be avid sailors and fishermen, focusing upon harvesting the fruits of the sea. Grandpa Jimmy, as the halfling is known today, was first to take on this tradition, being a pioneer and teacher to his kin. He was also known to enjoy his hats, crafting a number of them in his younger years. As time went on, this tradition began to decline, some members of the family opting instead into livestock. Thus many members began herding sheep and other animals. This wasn't always the case, as any halfling has and may choose their own profession. The family is a very close one, and visits are often amongst one another. Dinners and parties are usually held to celebrate holidays or days of momentous occasion. Just like most other halflings, they do enjoy a good smoke, drink, or party! Appearance Although often varied in appearance, there are a few similar characteristics to look out for when spotting a Bimbleweed. They usually have light brown to ginger-colored hair. The brown-colored hair is never dark, and the ginger-colored hair is either orange or in more rare circumstances a light red shade. As for eye color, they are generally blue, green, or hazel, although more exotic colors have been found such as a dark amber gold. Perhaps due to their trades as herders or fishermen, the Bimbleweed family tends to have more stocky members in comparison to the average halfling. They tend to be above 3 feet tall, but never taller than 3 feet 10 inches. Finally, they're known to sometimes have darker toned skin. Not heavily darker, but usually tan in comparison. Religion Most current members of the family worship either Knox or the Aspects. Some of the older family members such as Grandpa Jimmy would revere the old harvest gods. Although just like any other halflings around, they are fairly relaxed about whom or what you worship. Worship is mixed between Knox and the Aspects between current members, with Knox having a slight advantage due to his prevalent position amongst halflings. Finally, Billy Bob is usually not worshiped, respecting his wishes to be known simply as a master farmer. Yet many decide to treat him with the same kindness they would any halfling. Bimbleweed Mutton As they are herders, some of the members of this family are also chefs of the meats they procure. As such, a recipe within the family eventually surfaced to allow a most succulent, well-seasoned dish of mutton, served in various ways. Alongside this, many members of the family grow facial hair in the muttonchops style to signify their respect for the family, due to their herding and mutton-cooking ways.
