Recent Forum Conduct

Recently the forums have been quite a bit more turbulent than usual. Some of you may have noticed the increased FM presence because of this. This is likely due to the war and the two conflicting sides. I can only imagine how bad it’s going to get this weekend, and to be blunt the FM team is more than a little concerned and over it. Monday was pretty bad and that was only a skirmish. Most of it’s been just people being utterly despicable to each other and honestly the community is getting pretty tired of it. It doesn’t matter if it’s your friend, or it’s a joke. The forums are a public place, and as soon as you put your comments up it becomes a public issue. The first thing new players see when they join LotC are the forums, and they’ve been pretty bad. They’ve been SO bad old and new players alike have noticed and started to come to the FM team. When that happens it’s no longer funny and it’s no longer a small problem.

 

In lieu of this weekend and for future reference, the FM team will not be taking such a lenient approach as we have been. Consider this your verbal warn for this weekend. The RP threads specifically have been pretty bad; OOC targeting, poor effort going into RP posts, racist/offensive memes, etc have become almost normal. As a community it’s our job to not only stay professional and put on a good face for new members; it’s important that we stay kind to each other. It may be easy to throw a jab at someone or curse them out over the forums, but stop and think if you’d say the same thing to that persons face, probably not…would your friends or family approve of some of the things we’ve seen…definitely not. If any of those thoughts go through your head you probably shouldn’t be posting it.

 

On a more positive note the FM team realizes that this isn’t everybody, and we appreciate those of you who have been respectful of others. We appreciate your patience and we appreciate those of you who have taken the time to read this. The forums are meant to be a fun place to talk to each other and post, not a stressful environment to be bullied or harassed by others.
