It Cracks..

 

Dusk set upon the desert dunes and bathed the landscape in a pale light, columns of sand flew about in the winds. Yet, in the distance.. the wooden palisade sheltered a lone worker. The cloaked man drew his pickaxe from his backpack and flung it on his shoulder, Alifer Amice was his name and he proceeded to the cave. The columns of sand then blew into the gorge and fell on the remains of the Orenian expedition. The sand that blew into the gorge collected along the rocky outcrops and Vultures circled the setting sun. It was this way ever since the battle of the gorge. Sometimes, one or two vultures would drag a corpse out of the sand, revealing a decayed Orenian soldier. They always picked it clean in a manner of hours. Below the carnal gorge, as it was now called by some, the ground tremored once more. Alifer Amice entered the cave, he withdrew his pickaxe and swung it on the rocks. Minor tremors would be felt above ground as he does this, yet this did not deter Alifer. He struck the stony cave wall one final time, his sparks erupted from his pickaxe. He had struck a solid iron wall, Alifer jumped and the pickaxe flew across the cave. Alifer inspected the exposed wall and a look of horror plastered itself on his face, the legends were true. It existed.

 

 

 

The rubble had been cleared, and the dungeon had now been exposed to the surface world. He quickly withdrew and sealed the entrance to avoid its discovery. No one will know of what he had found, no one will know of the fissure below.
