Definitions

 

What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is the act of becoming someone or something other than yourself, and 'playing a role' as another character, rather than yourself.

 

What is metagaming? metagaming is using out-of-character knowledge that your character shouldn't know to shape your rp in to your advantage. An example would be hearing something over teamspeak and using that info to change what your character has initially been doing to avoid or take advantage of the ooc information.

 

What is power-emoting (powergaming)? Powergaming is when your character does things which force a situation on another character, without allowing other characters to respond. For example, when a character says they attack another player and kill him in one blow, this is powergaming because it doesn’t allow the other character to respond to the attack, and “forces” them to “die.”

Biography:

Max was born in the year 1582, to a poor Kha fisherman and his wife. Though he and his parents lived in squalor-- often moving from place to place to find work-- in his early years, Max was always happy. His life was simple in those times, as he was still too young to understand things such as pride and contempt.

 

From the time he was old enough to walk, Max’s patta would often take him out fishing with him, teaching him everything he knew about rods, bait, casting and nets. Max would listen attentively to every detail-- not so much because he wanted to learn these things, but instead, because it was the only time his patta seemed to bestow upon him all of his attention. Max loved his patta dearly, and though he knew he worked hard to provide for family, Max couldn't help but feel slighted by his patta when he would leave Max and his mother alone for days at a time to sail into deeper waters and more treacherous waters in attempts to net bigger fish, and in turn, a bigger payday.

 

One evening, Max was hungry, but there was no food left. He decided to take a few apples from a market close by while the owner wasn't looking and ran home with them to give them to his parents, as well as eat them himself of course. They asked how he got them, and Max could not lie to them so he told them what happened, but they didn't get angry because they had no food and the fish his patta caught was not enough to support the family. So for a long time Max's patta caught fish with Max during the day and in the evening Max stole food from the markets.

 

Max's parents were thrown into a dungeon because they could not pay the fine. Max would soon be 18, so he had to support himself however he could. He wasn't quite able to get by with only stealing food, so he had to start stealing trinkets and jewels from people's houses. Usually if he was caught, he would manage to talk his way out of it, but if not, he was basically helpless. After half a year Max tried to break them out but was caught and thrown out of town.

 

Max therefor travelled for a long time till some orcs found him and sold him to a goblin named Gu'Gren (vegterble) in San'torr. The first year he used Max to make drugs but after a year they became close friends. Outside Max was a slave inside they where friends and room mates but Max still stole when they where outside. Gu'Gren used to take the chains of Max and let Max steal a bit before Max ran home.

 

 

 

Personality Traits: My character often times is criminal, calculating and cold, keeping to the shadows, remaining an aloof outsider in most situations. He prefers standing on the sidelines sizing things up to see if it’s in his interest to get involved.  However, he is very strategic and disciplined, and once he deems a situation worth getting involved with, he will work cooperatively with whomever he must, manipulating them to achieve his ends. He is also attractive and suave, which he uses to his advantage (especially when in sticky situations).

 

 

Ambitions: My character has trained his whole life to become the world’s best assassin and thief. he started with the thought of making enough money to become rich because the most of his childhood he and his family was very poor.

 

Strengths/Talents: My character has spent years training to become a master thief. His physical appearance (dark fur), feline reflexes, and limberness make him stealthy; capable of slipping  into and out of places unseen when under the cover of night. He is also very clever, and good at thinking on his feet. He rarely encounters challenges he cannot overcome with his limitless ingenuity. In addition to this, he has extremely good vision in darkness, can typically handle falls from moderately high places, and, when necessary, make impressive leaps to save his hide.

 

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Though he is masterfully skilled at the art of pilfering, Max is typically outmatched in a physical fight. He has never trained in combat or weapons, save for some experience with short swords and daggers; therefore, if caught, he will likely wind-up flat on his back? and if somebody begins to talk bad about him he gets aggressive and mad fast he will probably attack them after a short time of being annoyed.

 

Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) My character is 5'1" ft, and is dark like the shadows he hides in, with eyes as green as the emeralds he steals
