History - Avar

House Kaedric dates its origins back to barren icy planes of the Isle of Avar. They are farmers by trade, first cultivating the fields of Crestholm. From these humble beginnings, they began to build up their influence and family name. Once Brennus had reached his early twenties, the son of Sven Ruric returned to Avar, bringing with him what was left of the Ashguard from Lorraine.  Thomas set out to revitalize Avar, and bring it out of the state of disrepair it had fallen into. Thomas erected the Nortruppen, an army of soldiers meant to defend the frontiers of the Orenian empire. Brennus joined up, quickly climbing the ranks until he hit Kommissar, the sole disciplinary and second in the command of the Order. It was here that he continued his line, wedding and bedding Lagertha, a Norland born wench. Quickly after Thomas the ‘rat’ Ruric rebelled from Oren, Brennus abandoned his position, feeling distraught about his oath to the Emperor and to the Order he had sworn to. This would last until the entire realm migrated to Axios, only being broken once Brennus had found purpose in Haense.

History - Kingdom of Haense

Later on, Brennus would go on to serve Count Sergei Kovachev and would be granted a small fiefdom upon his lands. There, he founded a small Norlandic settlement upon the biting cold, snowy lands of Tahn’s north; the village of Myrka. During Brennus’ tenure of fealty to Count Sergei, he had amassed quite the amount of respect from his fellow countrymen. Brennus oversaw daily activities of the village and also maintained a small warband, which rallied to the Count’s aid during times of war. Myrka had become a popular destination within the Kingdom of Haense and its famed meadhall saw a nonstop flow of visitors from all corners of the realm. With his loyal service to the County and the Kingdom, Count Sergei saw it fit to have Brennus recommended for knighthood. Unknown to him, at the next court session, King Andrik him dubbed as Ser Brennus, a title he would bear proudly to show for his loyal and continued service to the Kingdom.

History - Svenheld

However, having heard of the re-emergence of the Norlandic peoples in the settlement known as Svenheld, Brennus felt the urge to return to his peoples, a culture and identity that he had thought had been left in the history books. Thus, to Count Sergei, he respectfully requested to be relieved of his vows so that he may once more join with his people. A heavy hearted Count Sergei would be sad to let his long-standing friend go, but agreed to allow him to depart. And so, Ser Brennus gathered what remained of his warband and set off to the Norlandic settlement of Svenheld, far across the continent in the west of Tahn. He was there taken in by his kinsmen, namely Baldur Ashtyr, and would spend the next couple of years there. Having laid the foundations of Myrka himself, he also drew up some architectural for Svenheld, designing most of the additions to the city. In his honor, a large portion of the city was quartered off and labeled the “Kaedric District”.

For the next few years, Brennus would live out the rest of his days in Svenheld in relative comfort, until his quiet passing several years down the line. It was a tragic loss for the Norlandic peoples, though his contribution would not be forgotten. During this time, the world would be engulfed by another global scale conflict, with the Holy Orenian Empire and the forces of the Axios Coalition pitted against each other in total war. Baldur would go on to side with the Holy Orenian Emperor Philip Frederick, and under him, granted the Jarldom of Ostermark. Brennus’s two surviving children, Mira and Seamus, left Svenheld to seek refuge with distant relatives to survive the upcoming conflict. Meanwhile, at home, Artyom Ruric, the heir to the Ruric line had returned with a host of his loyal men. He had took everyone by surprise, and demanded that the people of Svenheld bend the knee to him and abandon Baldur Ashtyr. For serving the Empire, Artyom essentially banished Baldur, allowing him to never return to his people. Baldur, who at the time was in Johannesburg preparing the defenses for the inevitable siege and would be in little position to interfere. The men and women of Svenheld, faced by Artyom’s ultimatum of subjugation or destruction, reluctantly bent the knee.

History - Kingdom of Norland

Years after the Empire’s fall and the creation of the Kingdom of Norland, things would seem to look well for the Norlandic peoples. However, their exponential growth was halted by a sudden outbreak of mysterious plague which would incapacitate King Artyom and several members of the Ruric line with illness. While Artyom was out with a coma, his cousin of the line Freysson, would take up the responsibility of the Kingdom. However, the Dwarves of Urguan saw this an opportunity to press an age-old grudge and to strike Norland while it was at his weakest. Despite attempts at peace between the two nations, war eventually broke out. Being heavily outnumbered and outgunned, by a combined force of Dunamians, Teutons, Orcs, and Dwarves, the situation for the Norlandic peoples appeared dire at first. Norlandic forces were pushed all the way back to the Krag, where they were forced to make their last stand. However, seeing Urguan’s overwhelming initial victories, the Dwarves of Urguan would doubt the Horde’s usefulness, and began to have second thoughts about the hiring of the mercenaries. King Donovan, prepared to empty the coffers, proposed a counter-offer which he’d use to secure the Horde’s assets for the Norlandic side. After a two year long siege, and several failed Urguanic incursions into the perimeter, the forces of the Krag would prevail. Having beat back the Dwarven onslaught, the combined forces of Urguan and her allies would pull out, vacating the Norlandic lands and finding themselves in the midst of their own, internal conflict. With the Dwarven blockade lifted, Brennus’s surviving children, Mira and Seamus would venture forth into the lands of Norland, reuniting with their people. There, although young, they pledged to lend their aid to Donovan and the Kingdom of Norland, helping to bring Norland out of the state of disrepair the war had left it in.

Predominant Features

The Kaedrics are known to possess bushy manes of charcoal black hair. Their eyes are of a lighter hue, ranging from light blues to emerald greens. They are typically on the heavier side, having stout and stocky builds. Thus, quite fittingly, its family members have been compared to bears. Much like bears, the Kaedrics share the traits of endurance and ferocity.
