A lone figure in gray stood in the Dominion tavern, he spoke smoothly with his student, covering his palm to reveal a silver eye with the words "Under Aeriels Silver Light do we walk, and forever we walk in pursuit of knowledge"

The coined phrase meant a lot to him, he lived by it after all, did he not? His student spoke of leaving, and the man quietly nodded but in the back of his mind he doubted himself, he didn't know what it meant, he had doubt.

He said his farewells to the student, but he saw him as almost one of his own blood by now, a younger brother or even a son to the sage, he held back the thoughts that pushed onto his mind for a little longer as his dear student left. He was alone in the Tavern, he looked upwards towards the roof and reached a hand out "Is that you father?" He'd ask aloud, reaching a hand out as his past pushed onto his mind, the terrible times of his fathers abuse and the scars the covered the beings body, only thing that ran through his mind was the phrase "What are you doing? Wasting time? Wasting your limited time on this plane. Pathetic." The voice of his father rang out in his mind and his body tense. "I told him to scatter to the wind like ashes... but i'm not sure i know what it means." He looked to his hand that had the same silver eye that was painted on his students palm. Voices rang out in his mind, the Aerielian flame in his mind could only hold back so much and he fell to his knees with a loud thud. Thoughts of his dead brother came onto him, a feeling that he couldn't even save his brother, that he had hated his brother, his father, his wife, his past. It all surged onto his mind mercilessly and his eyes rolled in their spots as they took over a white cover. "I remember them... I remember my mistakes but yet... where did i go wrong?" He shakily said out as warm water rolled down his cheeks and he brought a cold hand up to wipe away the tears and the words rang into his mind "What are you doing? Sitting here crying like a little *****." those words from his late father.

"What, gonna follow them blindly and be a god slave, I've seen what they do to people Dael, they kill them and make them new, they aren't the same!" His brother said to him when he was going to be an Ascended.

"Where did we go wrong, Aeriel tell me, where have we wronged you, where has my faith faltered, and what sins have i committed..." he spoke out and waited in long silence, nothing happened and all was silent in the late night for the sage

"What did i expect?" He cried a bit more before the mop picked himself up and moved home in total defeat, he had ran out.

His will was simply just Ashes to the wind, his faith wavered for a moment, faltering below the broken man who had barely any order, and barely a student anymore, all he had was his wife, his house that meant nothing and magic that he spent his life working on for nothing.

 

His will was truly just. Ashes in the wind.

Nin peered down at the marking on his palm, a frown set on his features as he pulled his hood over his head and snuck past the Virarim doing their nightly watch and out the city, completely unseen.

"Remind me, Allric, to give that man the fresh herb fougasse recipe," said Nemir to a foot-tall construct made of clay on her nightstand, who gave a firm nod. "You and I can bake some tomorrow, too, for Guyden.  He seems like he could use some good ol' bread."

Cyrene frowned, sitting into the chair with a bit of a huff, hands clasped together with her head lowered. "You've helped me so many times in the past... Now let me help you, Dael."
