The forest was alive and filled with the sounds of nature, the sun hung halfway in the sky, the world bathing in its light. A boy sat alone there, his legs crossed and his hands upon the ground. His fingers writhed gently through the grass. He upturned his head to the trees, and sat there silently, making an effort not to move, his ears were perked up, he was listening closely for something. His eyes scanned the foliage around him softly, he was looking for something. His breathing had slowed, beginning to take the world in second by second.  The small boy watched a few ants crawl by, oblivious to the observer. His thoughts turned to the effigy he had seen in the city, only a mile or so off. He had walked far to get away from any noise or person, bathing himself in silence as the forest had in sun. The depiction of a woman is what he sought, a rendition. His eyes scanned the skyline before his gaze finally began to settle.

The abstract idea of an effigy being just that, an effigy, a representation was far beyond his mental grasp, but somewhere deep within the boy understood. For it takes a certain level of detachment and childlike wonder to consider something ethereal, the ideal, something not there but still there in the mind. His gaze had stopped upon a tree before him, and he began to understand.
