MamaBearJade 2090 Share Posted September 14, 2018 They were meant to be together until the end. Their daughter was going to grow up in a stable family, with a father and mother. They were supposed to have a happy ending. When did things change? What caused the disruption in their small fairytale? Where had she gone wrong with her devotion? You are nothing but a burden. Rin sat in the family library, her daughter, now a mere four years of age, sat in the corner playing in silence. Rin’s eyes trailed from the water to the child then back. Her voice given as a wedding gift, now once more silenced. She refused to see anyone in the past year and a half, locking herself away in her home with the child. The pain of that day sealing away what little strength she had managed to gain. No one would love a monster like you. Tears filled her pale green eyes as she stared out into the sea from her window. Valkriin’s mask held tightly in her dark fingers as she choked back a sob. The tears had yet to cease, creating lines down her patched face. She gripped it as her mind trailed back to that day. She had never thought it would happen to her, never thought he would turn. __________________________________________________________ Valkriin entered the home looking more worse for wear. His dual colored eyes traveled around the room as he headed into the druid’s room. He spotted Rin by the pond, cleaning some laundry. She looked up and smiled at him, holding the bundle as it dripped. “K-Karin’ayla…” she whispered, her voice ever so small and meek. If it hadn’t been for Hareven, she would never have been able to talk to the man she loved, or their daughter. Valkriin’s eyes shifted from the bundle to her. He seemed to struggle with focusing upon her. Her head slowly tilted. “V-Valkriin?” she asked as she slowly stood. He closed his eyes, mumbling to himself as she neared. She reached out to touch his cheek only to feel a sting in her cheek as he swatted her away. Pain welled up in her eyes as his dual colored orbs turned to her. “You aren’t real.” Her heart faultered as she stood there. “None of this is real. Why must you torment me?” She held her cheek, a cut marring the pale side of her face as she stared at him in confusion and horror. She took a step back. “Papa?” A small voice asked, causing him to turn. Fearing he would hurt Arianora too, Rin moved to her daughter’s side and looked at him. Her mouth opened to speak but nothing came out. “This isn’t real.” He turned, walking out of the small grove, leaving Rin holding Ari, unsure what had happened. __________________________________________________________ Rin touched her face as the memory faded. He had packed his bags and left immediately after. He did not even say goodbye to Rin or Ari. She could not help but blame herself for his leaving them. Ari had asked where her father went, but Rin could not answer her. She herself did not know if he would return. Eventually Ari stopped asking, forgetting what he looked like. She was still a happy young girl. Rin was thankful Ari picked up on sign language quickly, so the two still communicated, but Rin knew she could not stay hidden forever. Her cut scarred over, leaving another blemish on her already strange colored face. If he left you, she will too. They always leave you. She pulled her gaze away from the mask as she began to silently weep once more. She had missed her lessons with Hareven, tea times with Nivindil, and bonding time with Elenora. Her confidence had waned and the demons took root once more in her mind. She was alone. She had Ari, but she was convinced even Ari would eventually abandon her as well. Spoiler This is just an explination as to where Rin is due to my current absence from LotC. Twofeather gave me permission to write for his character departing as well. If you wish to rp with Rin, here is the best place currently as I cannot be in game at the moment.
