RENUNCIATION OF THE MARGRAVATE OF ARDENNES, 1686

Issued and confirmed by his Lordship, Francis d’Amaury, Margravate of Ardennes, 13th of Godfrey’s Triumph, 1686.

TO HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, AURELIUS I.

I, Francis d’Amaury, humbly write to you with the intent of renouncing my personally held title of Margravate for the Imperial territory of Ardennes. Although I wish to remain Baron of Belcrest and desire to swear fealty to the Margrave of Styria, with your gracious permission.

The reasonings for such a decision do not weigh lightly. I fear instability building within the Margrave and believe it would become a threat to the prosperity of my former territory. Additionally, I see it fitting and just that, in order to quell such instability, to preemptively return said title unto your grace so that the Imperial Crown may not be pestered by the chaos that could ensue.

Yours Forever Faithfully,

Lord Francis d’Amaury, Baron of Belcrest, Lord of Summerhall
