Lukariatias 524 Share Posted October 28, 2019 Progressing the MinistryFrom layman to clergyman A guide to advancing to Priesthood Composed by Godwin Cardinal KaedrinPrelate of the Priesthood Shepherds of Man through times of quietude and turbulence; providers of instruction and explanation of life’s tumultuousness. These are the Priests of the Canon church, the true faith of Mankind and its ancillary cousins. The sole body instilled by the will of God to guide the misguided, educate the uneducated, and clarify to the confused, the will of the Lord, the way of life, and the means by which to navigate the topsy-turvy of life (Gospels 5:2). It is as well Man alone who shall be entrusted with the wisdom to act a herdsman, compassionate and righteous, to conduct sermon and analysis, to be a trusted giver of local judgement, and to act a respectful neighbour. However, the journey from layman or intrigued bloke to erudite priest or cultivated bishop is not facile, and demands a level of attention befitting a post of such rigour. I. Acolyteship. The first and doubtlessly simplest step, compelled by will and designed around education, clear explanation, and hands-on experiences. It is either structured, or unstructured, and shall be timeless, free from the constraints of overburdened scheduling, and catered to the needs of the disciple. Whether under a teacher with a sole student, or in attendance of a seminary, monastery, or other organized and recognized institute. To progress from any man to an Acolyte of one’s respective local cathedral, it takes but a letter of intent, sent in or given in person, to any clerk or member of the Canon ministry. Alternatively, a letter can be sent to the Prelate of the Priesthood, that curate whose responsibility it is to tend to the well-being of the clergy. II. Thesis. The second and doubtlessly delightful, thought-provoking step, compelled by the will of one’s teacher to explore a religious topic of interest. It should not be especially demanding, nor agonizing (either alone or as a product of the aforesaid), but rather should be an assay of one’s scholarly skillset, their aptitude for putting words to paper, and their comprehension of the values of the Canon faith. Although discouraged, help can be sought out, and should start with one’s teacher. The thesis is a very unescorted challenge, and is designed to prompt one prospective priest to think for themselves of that which they shall be proselytizing. III. Ordination. The third and final step of the first leg of one’s ministerial journey, and the point at which this simple guide shall cease its explanation. Like a graduation, ordination is the practiced rite of assent, the step from any man to one clergyman, and an affirmation of the knowledge to progress, conducted by one’s teacher, or another of pertinent rank. Once ordained, one is no longer known as an Acolyte, and casts off all ties to their surname, taking the title of Father, and remaining ever stalwart to the time-tested oaths of the ministry: poverty, chastity, celibacy, obedience. From this point forward it is one’s flock they care for, all men indubitably, but foremost those who lie under one’s wing, for they are those so close as to be afforded, justly, immediate care and attention.
