Thesis on Holy Relics

Holy relics are items that were once held by former Pontiffs or Sainted people, considered to be holy due to their use and purpose. Canonical relics are usually held within reliquaries for safe-keeping and guarded to prevent thieves. They should be kept safe and unharmed as they represent our history and lessons that ought to be learnt. Once must not misconstrued the difference between safekeeping relics and hoarding them or worshipping their owners.

It is logical to look up to or revere those canonised as they are considered to be very pious people and all men and women should live in the footsteps of sainted individuals. It is usual for the church to have a large collection of relics, but what actually are relics? Relics are historical items that have a meaning to them and have survived time from a past era. What makes relics holy is who they were used by or what they were used for. For example the crozier of a high pontiff might be considered a holy relic due to what it was used for.

However holy relics should never be used as trophies to show off or boast about, they should be kept safe and displayed to all so that all may learn from them. Anybody attempting to barter off relics for hefty sums should incur the punishment that the sacrilegious incur.
