(A normal day in the life of the peasant family)

Meet the d’Épression family. These poor, unlucky and unknown people have nothing to call their own besides the clothes they wear and the body they have.
Somehow still passing their genes ahead, the only thing who keeps the family from dying out is the closeness between its members, after all “d’Épression helps d’Épression”.

Don’t fool yourself by thinking that the name represents how the family is. Through thick and thin they keep going, not giving to despair, growing stronger after every mishap.
Heck, you can even characterize them by it. Knowing that anytime soon life can just go south, they are teached as kids to enjoy every bit of fortune life gives them, for that could be the last in a long time.

ORIGINS OF THE NAME:
Legend has that once, a long time ago, lived the unluckiest person to ever grace existence. The man was so unlucky that he had lost everything he once had: House, family and honor.
“Luck is just not with him” people would whisper as he passed by. But as with most folkloric characters, he was stubborn and impulsive. So, determined to regain everything he once had

he made a deal with Luck itself. They would flip a coin to decide, the winner gets all. Not having anything else of value, he betted the only thing it was still truly his: His name.
Knowing he couldn’t lose, he decided to cheat the flip by using a coin that was heavier on one side, after all, he believed there was not anything else to lose if he got caught.
Anyone with a brain and older than 3 can logically reason that is impossible to cheat Luck, but he was so distressed his mind wasn’t properly working.

Luck was so furious when it found out that it decided that the man decided to lean a lesson. So it let him win, giving him everything he once had, and more, back.

So for the next three years he lived the most enjoyable and happy life. But everything was to change when Luck found out the man was going to have his first son, for it saw its opportunity for revenge.

So, the day his first-born was to be delived, Luck called the man out on his cheating. Retrieving everything it had given back prior, his name and, the cherry on the cake, his happiness.

That day, the first d’Épression was born, a child condemned to a life of irrelevancy. Not feeling avenged enough, Luck also made whoever shares their blood very fertile. So that the curse could live forever.
