MINOR AMBUSH REPORT

20th of Owyn's Light, 1822

ATTEMPTED AMBUSH AT NEW ESBEC - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THIS IS AN INTERNAL REPORT FILED DIRECTLY TO THE WAR OFFICE AND NOT MADE KNOWN TO THE WIDER PUBLIC

 

 

This is a Minor Ambush report on behalf of a Master Vicente, a good Samaritan of the Empire, for dissemination, a follow-up report shall be made with the Ministry of Justice for criminal charges as necessary. The immediate release is to prevent additional Citizens of the Empire from falling prey to such tactics and to advise the leaders of the War Office to take appropriate action, if any, to adjust tactics and procedures.

On or about the 20th of Owyn's Light, three individuals impersonating citizens of the Empire requested aid and an escort along the road to the town of New Esbec where they had relatives living.  Master Vicente, accepted their offer of 20 minas to help their injured friend see his parents. One individual feigned a crippling injury.

 

Upon arrival at New Esbec the individuals escorted Vicente into the bank. Noticing that it was taking an excessive time to retrieve his contractual agreement for payment, Master Vicente became suspicious as the door to his rear opened and revealed additional assailants that would attempt kill  or capture the man in the city.

Master Vicente was able to evade the initial ambush, escape his assailants, and establish a counter-ambush further away as his assailants pursued him. Catching his would-be assailants by surprise, he struck a wounding blow and evaded further detection. It is unknown if this wound is fatal.

Current assessments.

o The ambush was an attempt by non-uniformed members of either the Nordlandic Army or the Ferrymen using uncoordinated ambush tactics to demoralize Imperial citizens and create a lack of confidence in the ISA. We believe these attacks are not being directly coordinated by senior Commanders of the Nordlandic Army, but are encouraged at the lowest level by junior members or mercenaries in order to provide Nordland Chain of Command deniability of actions if they go poorly.

o This operation failed in its objective, however we further assess the enemy will continue to use deception to take advantage of Imperial Citizens who lack combat training and attempting to get them to leave the safety of Imperial Cities by preying on their willingness to assist those seeking help. This tactic has proven a successful morale boost to beleaguered Enemy forces. 

o Total Enemy Casualty assessment was '1' with the potential to return to service in the near future.
