The Rescue of

Princess Amelia Margaret,

Lord Joseph d’Arkent,

Andronikos Mareno,

& Lord Viathan Othaman

14th of Owyn’s Flame, 1831

Written by Ensign Viathan A. Othaman

The 12th of Owyn’s Flame

A cool breeze rustled the golden fields of Providence; another day, another patrol, another pleasant stroll. Yet as I crossed the bend to the city, I was ambushed!

The Ferrymen - after a shocking victory against allied Ork & Orenian forces, were back for blood. Before I could react, the clever devils had a dagger to my throat and more folk at sword point . . . Someone had let them in to the city! Begrudgingly I obliged, and was taken down the walls and cuffed, then transported to their keep in the Northlands.

Time blurred. As I opened my eyes, I saw poor Princess Amelia & the great Adronikos Mareno beside me in the same cell - Mister d’Arkent was contained in a separate room, for whatever reason, playing Sword-Spear-Shield with one of the bandits. An hour passed. And then a day. I believe we were contained for two, until the Ferrymen became impatient . . .

The 14th of Owyn’s Flame

Mister Joseph d’Arkent was taken out, and ferociously SLASHED with some wicked, blue blade. His flesh turned to skin, nigh rotting once the weapon was sheathed. At the same time, someone had finally hearkened our letters.

“Princess Amelia, out. You two stay here.”

No, this wouldn’t do.

“Psst, Private Mareno. When they open the door . . . We charge,” I suggested. I didn’t think that legendary man - who’d previously faced off against twenty Ferrymen with only Cyrus Mareno to aid him, would agree. But he did!

As their wicked ringleader, a Mali’ker, opened the door, we busted out with the Princess and began to batter down the several Ferrymen with just our fists. They drew their blades, but Andronikos and I had been too quick. There, we met Cyrus himself outside of the keep, who fooled the bandits into handing Amelia over for a mere few mina!

With Cyrus Mareno’s wit, and my & Adronikos’ sure footing, we escaped the maw of the beast and fled home!
