KaiserJacobII 1461 Share Posted December 3, 2021 The Poem of Parting An Imperial soldier departing for war, circa 1849 A pain we must share, a loving-suffering that Burns within our hearts as the day draws near There is no love without pain, nor suffering E’er to end, my love, is that pain we must share. O’er mountains, and through valleys, love You will never leave my mind, and when I return, the flowers will bloom e’er brighter For you and for me. I love you, and no matter what happens I won’t stop loving you, because I go not for Empire, nor Emperor, but For you and the promise I made; That promise which bound our fates, And entwined our destinies, forever Waltzing circles in the sky, Even if I die. Even if I die, even if we part forever, My love will not cease, For you are the reason I fight, and The thought of you will keep me alive. -For Liesa- Michael Genevius O'Rourke
